"W-what medical expenses?"
Before the man could finish speaking, a group of men in black suddenly grabbed him, dragging him toward the stairwell without a word.
From the stairwell came pitiful screams and cries for mercy, chilling and heart-wrenching.
"I came here today hoping for a quiet dinner, and instead… this." Joey helped Marylin to sit, whispering to Cecilia, "What happened at your company?"
Blaze's gaze also fixed on Cecilia, his eyes burning with urgency for answers.
Seeing Cecilia hesitate, Marylin finally couldn't hold back. "We were tricked. The investment failed, the money's gone… and she's even worse off than me. The company's on the brink of collapse."
"This is my problem. It doesn't concern you." Cecilia drew a deep breath and met Blaze's eyes directly. "Thank you for today. I'll repay the money as soon as I can."
"Stop."
The man grabbed her arm as she turned, shoving the checkbook into her hands with unmistakable intent.
