Chapter 34 - The Sovereign’s Return

Chapter 34: The Sovereign's Return

The heavy atmospheric pressure of the "Nexus Hub" felt light compared to the exhaustion settling into Damon's bones. He didn't stay in the forge to admire the perfected Void-Star Plate. He had achieved the harmony he sought; his body was stable, his skills were unlocked, and his power was absolute. But this power wasn't just a byproduct of his own world. During his time away, Damon had used his Dimensional Rifts to transcend the boundaries of reality, traveling to dying dimensions and alien worlds to find the "bullshit" he needed to end all others.

In one realm, he had fought against mechanical gods to learn the logic of the [Aethel-Regulator]. In another, a world of pure entropy, he had mastered [Matter Deconstruction], allowing him to unmake objects at the atomic level without using mana. These weren't just "spells"—they were fundamental laws he had carved into his very soul.

He made his way through the quiet corridors of the Void Sanctuary. He didn't use a [Void Step]. He wanted to walk through the peace he had bled to maintain. When he reached his private quarters, the air was warmer, smelling of the faint, calming incense Saya always kept lit.

Damon shed the external layers of his gear, his body still marked with the fading bruises and closed scars from the high-gravity trial and his multiversal hunts. He moved to the bed where Saya lay. As he slid under the covers, the sudden shift in the mattress woke her.

She didn't startle; she knew his presence better than she knew her own breath. The moment she realized it was him—really him—she collapsed against his chest. The tears came instantly, hot and heavy, soaking into his skin.

"You're back," she choked out, her voice cracked. "I missed you so much... I thought you weren't coming back."

Damon didn't offer a grand speech about the alien worlds he had conquered or the new skills he had etched into his [Void Heart]. He simply wrapped his scarred, iron-strong arms around her, pulling her close enough to feel the steady, rhythmic beat of his hardened heart. To the Demon Lord Coalition, he was a multiversal threat who had stolen the powers of a dozen worlds. But here, he was simply the man who had come home.

He closed his eyes, his chin resting atop her head. As sleep finally took him, his last thought was a silent vow: he would tolerate no bullshit from the world outside that dared to threaten this silence.
