Clash with the CEO's betrothed
(Isabella pov)
(The next day at the office)
I was hurrying to take the coffee to Mr. Orangutan,I found him the perfect name yesterday. Honestly, how can someone's head be that big and still have nothing in his brain? This morning, he told me to prepare his coffee and bring it to him within three minutes or I'd lose my job. The worst part? He actually set a timer, which only made me more restless. I was almost at the CEO's door when I bumped into someone, and the coffee slipped, spilling all over her. I looked up and saw a lady in an expensive, silky full-length gown, and her purse alone could probably buy my whole family.
I muttered, "I'm sorry," trying to clean the spill with my handkerchief, but she shoved my hands away, making me stagger and nearly lose my balance.
"How dare you, lowlife, spill that cheap coffee on me?" she snapped.
"I'm sorr…" I tried to apologize, but before I could finish, a hot, deafening slap landed across my face. My anger surged instantly,Lumina, my inner wolf, clawing at the surface, desperate to take over. I fought to keep her down.
"Do you know how much this gown costs?" she demanded, her eyes gleaming with cruelty. She turned to her guards and chuckled mockingly. "Of course she doesn't. Judging from her cheap look and that cheap perfume she couldn't possibly understand."
The guards remained stone-faced, saying nothing.
She stepped closer, grabbed my hand, and sneered. "I'll grant you the honor of touching it. Feel its elegance, its silkiness."
But her grip wasn't gentle. She twisted my fingers, forcing my hand toward the gown. I struggled, fighting back against her strength, and for a moment, I was winning. Her smile faltered.
Then, with a sharp command, she ordered her guards, "Put the hem of my gown into her mouth!"
I clenched my jaw tight, refusing to open, as the guards pressed closer, trying to force me..
While one guard held the hem to put it into my mouth, I bit the one trying to open my mouth, and his hand started bleeding. She got angry and ordered the other guards to hold me down as she raised her heel, trying to force it into my mouth. "Lick it, girl. Know its quality," she said.
At that, my anger could not take it anymore. Lumina, my inner wolf, was trying to take over, and I knew that would make me shift and attack her, which I couldn't risk in the office. I broke free from the guard and kicked him hard, and while he was on the floor, I charged at the lunatic, who now looked scared. I held her neck tight, and Lumina tried to take my humanity, telling me to twist her neck. But I managed to control myself, though I didn't let go. I held her high as she gasped for air, struggling to break free. Lumina commanded me to scratch her face with my inner claws, which I thought was the perfect idea. But I only used one finger to avoid suspicionThen I let go, and she gasped for air. "My face! My face!" she screamed, ordering one of her guards to bring the small mirror from her purse. I rolled my eyes, and Lumina, my inner wolf, spoke in my head: What if you had used all your claws?
I answered back, She would've kissed her ass goodbye, which made me laugh out loud.
She glared at me. "What have you done to my face? Are you even human?" Then she turned to her guards again. "Beat her!" she commanded.
They hesitated, fear flickering in their eyes, but finally they moved toward me. I fought back, using their strength against them, throwing one into the other until they crashed to the ground in a heap. Deep down, I knew that wasn't just me,it was Lumina, my inner wolf.
I grabbed the woman again, lifting her high as she struggled desperately to break free. Lumina roared in my head, commanding me to strangle her. This time, I couldn't stop it. Lumina pushed past my control, taking over completely, and I felt the shift almost breaking through.
And then that voice, the one I hated most, cut through everything. Mr. Orangutan's voice.
(Alexander pov)
I was in my office with Francisco, both of us on a call with a client, earpods in our ears, just one each. He was jotting down the important notes while we waited for the coffee I'd asked Miss Hyena to make. I had given her three minutes, but now ten had already passed and she was still not back. I was already plotting another sweet punishment for her delay when sudden screams near the door made us pause and listen.
Francisco started to stand, but I gestured for him to ignore it and focus. I added the other earpod into my ear and handed him one too so we could concentrate, though I could see curiosity etched across his face.
When we were finally done with the call, the noise outside was still going on,voices, scuffling, and the sharp clicks of shoes on the floor, like someone struggling. This time we decided to check.
Opening the door, the scene before me froze my steps.
There was Jovita,my so-called betrothed, held up high by Miss Hyena, struggling to breathe and break free. The guards lay on the floor, wincing in pain. Shards of a broken coffee cup and spilled coffee covered the tiles.
"What's going on here?" I thundered.
Immediately Miss Hyena released Jovita, flinching back. Jovita fell, coughing and gasping for air.
"What's going on here?" I asked again, sharper this time.
"Baby," Jovita croaked, her voice weak but dramatic. I rolled my eyes. I hated being called that by her. There were no strings attached between us; our so-called relationship was nothing but business.
"Baby, fire her!" she burst out, clutching her throat. "First she poured hot coffee all over me, then she attacked my guards like some wild animal. She clawed my face,do you know how much I spent at the spa today just to look flawless for you? And then she tried to strangle me,me, your fiancée! She nearly killed me, baby!"
Her words dripped with exaggeration, but I knew Jovita too well. Lies. All of it. If there was a scene to create, she was the one pulling the strings and this Hyena had simply taken the bait."Does she even know who I am? Does she know I'm your fiancée and the only daughter of Senator Luis Crisanto?" Jovita snapped, tossing her hair back.
I rolled my eyes again. Always full of herself.
"Baby, do something! I said fire her!" she demanded, voice rising.
I shifted my gaze to Miss Hyena. She stood with her head bowed, not daring to make eye contact, her face blank, expressionless. Then I turned back to Jovita.
"One," I said calmly, "This is my office. And she is my worker. So the decisions here are mine to make, not anyone else's."
Jovita's eyes flared, blazing at me as if her glare alone could cut me down. If looks could kill, I'd have been six feet under already. She opened her mouth to argue again, but I caught her hand firmly.
"Enough," I muttered, pulling her into my office before she could create
another scene. Over my shoulder, I said to Miss Hyena, "See me later."
