Chapter 1 - when life throws stones at you

"So, I'm getting sent to some random academy?"

I asked the woman standing before me, she stared at me with her lilac eyes before smiling

I woke up an hour ago and this is the news she tells me after I get out of the shower? She even returned me my 'clock' that she had confiscated a year ago. Was she planning to send me away?

"It's not just any academy~ it's the autherica hero academy, the first academy founded for hero's you know!"

Her cheerful voice echoed in my ear

'So loud..'

"Leader, is this another punishment? I have no intention of going-"

"You said you were interested in living a normal human life before, weren't you?"

"…"

Did I say that? I honestly don't remember

I met my leader about.. 7 years ago when I was 9. After my mom had sent me away to protect me.

My leader has always treated me… normally? I'm not sure if my mom had told her to treat me like a child or something, she probably didn't. If she did, I wouldn't be going on missions with them, would I?

Bringing me out of my thoughts, leader took out a bracelet and placed it on my hand

"This bracelet will block how others see your mana level, and…"

She stopped speaking for about a moment as she moved her hand away from mine.

"It'll let you close your eyes forever"

***

It's been… about a year since I've been in the academy.

Everything's been fine… I haven't made any friends, the teachers be no opinion of me..

There's just an issue, a very small one

She fucking lied

Normal life? Normal life???? What is normal about this?

In the past year, the school has gotten invaded twice, a student has turned into a demon on the campus and…

Yea I don't know what else.

I may not be educated on what having a "normal life" is like, but I know for sure it doesn't include getting assaulted.

Not only that!

The artifact bracelet she gave me..

It was meant to prevent me from seeing the past through my eyes.

No

IT DIDN'T

Now, I see the future instead of the past!

Isn't that wonderful?

In the first few months of wearing the bracelet, I didn't see anything from the past, I was very happy about that.

And then I walked into the toilet one day and saw a bunch of corpses!

What the hell!

I immediately reported it to the teacher who then investigated the toilet and found nothing and I got a demerit for wasting his time!

Fuck off!

Anyway, that scene was exactly what I saw when I returned back to the toilet about a month later.

I even almost got stabbed! I quickly subdued the guy and threw him in the pile of corpses and ran away

Luckily , there weren't any security cameras at that point.

Overall, I'd rate the academy experience a 1/10

The only decent thing was me managing to lay low and not make any friends .

I guess me managing to escape from the calamities also counted? I didn't get affected a single time because I ran away!

Though I could have warned them, I don't really have the responsibility or care to.

They wouldn't believe me in the first place, would they? That they would die and their corpses would be left in the boys toilet? Who would want to believe they would die there with how bad it smelled inside?

Though technically I could help and fight.. I don't want to be a hero in the first place.

I have no idea what my leader is scheming but I want to avoid it, it probably has something to deal with that black haired boy, he's been affected by all the events and is the current rank one

Ah.. enough ranting for now.

I looked at the time, it was 11pm

I spent the past half an hour screaming my frustrations in my head, it has been a daily routine for quite a while.

Tomorrow is the day the academy opens again, and I walk in as a second year.

'Hopefully I can get kicked out this year'

I thought to myself as I covered myself in a blanket, hoping to drift off into sleep.

I stared at the useless bracelet for a second before looking back at the door.

I felt a chill go down my back, something didn't feel quite right.

The bracelet was emitting mana.. way too much mana.

Did it awaken or something.

I tapped on the bracelet slightly and…

'Crack!'

It fucking broke

I stared at the 'clock' I had placed beside me and grabbed it.

I really wanted to scream at her, I really did.
