Chapter 2 - Chapter 2354: Super Thief.

Chapter 2354: Super Thief.

The thief used his rank 4 divine ability to steal Black Axe's pathway of the illusionist rank 4 Invisibility divine ability, their assassin's rank 1 Cloak divine ability, their traveler's rank 2 Seeking Danger divine ability, and their propagator of disorder's rank 2 Poison Beacon divine ability.

These are just the abilities he has from one pathway. He still has the divine abilities of the pathway of error to help him.

The divine abilities of the pathway of error included rank 1 Lie, rank 2 Confusion, rank 3 Affliction, rank 4 Face Changer, and rank 5 Disable.

To top it off, he also possessed the divine abilities from Legion's pathway of the telepath. So he will be able to use the rank 2 Mind Read and rank 3 Hypnotize divine abilities to navigate his way through the guard stations.

The first thing the slave did was to take over the identity of one of the guards. The fate weaver helped them pick the right guard to kidnap.

They had to wait a long time for the right guard to appear. But their long wait paid off because the guard that they grabbed happened to be one of the few who had access to the core of the arrays.

This guard they caught wasn't one of the 10 guarding the station. He came from outside the station and was about to replace one of the other guards in the station who also had access to the core of the arrays.

This guard was coming to start his shift at the station, but Legion waylaid him before he could get to the station. It was a good thing they did this far away from the station since he was a rank 4 guard.

After subduing the guard, the slave thief replaced him and went to the station in his place. He used the Face Changer and the Loe divine abilities to gain access to the core.

Along the way, the Danger Sense divine ability and the frequent advice from their fate weaver helped him avoid doing stupid things that would blow his cover.

He didn't need to use Danger Sense and the help of the fate weaver for most of the journey because of the Mind Read and Hypnotize divine abilities.

If there was something he didn't know, he would ask about it or casually mention it. When the other guards thought of the answer in their minds, he would gain the answer through the Mind Read divine ability.

Then he would use his the Hypnotize divine ability to make them forget that he ever asked that question. If there was more than one person at the scene and he couldn't single out one person to use the Hypnotize divine ability on them, he would just use the Lie divine ability to fool them and gain access to what he wanted.

He had a lot of divine abilities and the support of Legion to use them, so he slowly and surely reached the core of the array.

After he reached the core of the array, he slowly and surely incapacitated everyone at the station. He used the combination of the Lie, Hypnotize, Confusion, Affliction, Mental Armament, Disable, Cloak, and Invisible divine abilities to achieve this.

With the Cloak and Invisible divine abilities, he was able to sneak up to a guard. Then he would use the Hypnotize divine ability to stop them from resisting while he used the Affliction divine ability to weaken them, the Disable divine ability to disable their divine abilities, and finally Mental Armament to silently destroy their minds.

If there was someone capable of resisting even after all of these, he would use the Confusion divine ability to confuse their senses. So they wouldn't be able to resist effectively.

His actions were made all the easier because of the demarcation of the walls. The walls had split the station into various sections that can be cut off from each other.

This demarcation was done to make it more difficult for an intruder to make it through all the sections. But it also made each section of the station isolated from each other, so if someone was dying in one section, the people in the other sections wouldn't know about it.

As long as alarms didn't ring, the other sections remained oblivious to the overall situation in the station. Some of them even sleep and entertain themselves in one way or another in order to pass the time. This made them less alert and easier to sneak up on.

The thief killed everyone slowly and surely, one at a time from the inside out. It was difficult for him to get in, but after getting in and knowing his way around, he was able to get out while also killing every guard along the way.

While all of this was happening, the legend was in a bunker relaxing. It wasn't the job of the legend to patrol the station. His job was to defend the station from the attacks of powerful enemies.

The legend would only move into action when there was an alarm. Since there was no alarm, there was no need for it to move into action.

The legend remained oblivious as the thief opened the door of the station to let Legion in. Legion waltzed in and sat in the spring of life as if they were on a vacation.

As they soaked in the spring of life and absorbed its whole content into their body, they smacked their lips in satisfaction and said, "This is good."

Legion-9 shook his head and said, "We didn't have to use our trump cards, which makes this situation better than good."

Legion-3 agreed with a nod and said, "That's true. But this means that this situation is good for both us and Legend."

Legion-7 chuckled and said, "I know what you mean. What he doesn't know won't harm him."

Legion-1 sighed and said, "For the first time in my life, I believe that ignorance is bliss."

Chapter 2355: Two Trump Cards.

Legion-1 spoke as if admitting that ignorance was bliss was a great sin for him to commit. But in this case, ignorance was actually a good thing for them and the legend guarding the station.

They didn't come here to steal something from a legend without planning to fight the legend. They had prepared two trump cards to ensure that they would at least come out alive from a fight with a legend.

One of those trump cards is the cursed vessel that their fate weaver has been preparing for months. This cursed vessel will strengthen the resistance and rebelliousness of the divine flesh of whoever is cursed.

So this curse is similar to what was used to create the mutants that wore down Captain Sheckel and her team. Anyone who is cursed by it will have a higher tendency of losing control.

One might call the cursed vessel a bomb. It is a bomb that will surely harm the target and might also harm them if the target is a legend.

This is why they first plan to use it to threaten the legend into giving up and letting them go. This should work because legends don't want to lose control just like anyone else.

But if their threat doesn't deter the legend or the legend believes that the spring of life is worth more than their life, then Legion will use the cursed vessel and let it unleash the bomb within it.

Once the bomb explodes, they will be fine from the effects of the curse, but the legend won't be. The legend will begin to lose control immediately and will have to stop fighting them in order to suppress their divine flesh.

If that still doesn't make the legend give up and he still wants to fight them to death, then they can only use their second trump card.

They don't want to use their second trump card if they don't have to. They also don't want to use the cursed vessel if they don't have to, but no matter what they think, they believe that they have a better chance of surviving against a mad and easily distracted legend than one who is sane and determined to get them.

Fortunately, they didn't have to use any of their trump cards. In their opinion, this is good news for both them and the legend.

It is good for the legend because he won't have to sacrifice his life for material wealth, and it is good for them because they won't have to risk their lives for material wealth either. So both of them should be happy about it.

They were certainly happy about how everything turned out. They were in a good mood as they left the station and returned to Reinfield without losing any of their slaves and even gaining more divine flesh, divine artifacts, and energy water.

They gained the last few things from the storage of the station. They had practically cleaned out everything there, so they had to be in a good mood.

They thought that the legend would be in a good mood too, but that wasn't what happened when the legend discovered what had happened.

The legend wasn't the one to discover the robbery. It was the next batch of guards who came to start their shift but came to find an empty station that discovered what had happened.

The legend was very pissed when he realized that his station had been robbed right under his nose. He roared and swore vengeance to the heavens.

He was really angry, so his words were not for show. He actually decided to put in the work to find the thief, so he went to hire the help of a legendary fate weaver.

On the other side, Legion returned to Reinfield triumphantly. Then they did the same thing they did with the station. They let someone from within the array guarding the spirit spring open the door for them.

The protection for Spirit Spring in Reinfield had a different type of arrangement than the station. For one, there was only one wall around the spirit spring, and it wasn't for protecting the spirit spring.

The wall was only used to demarcate the location of the spirit spring from the city and to prevent trespassing. The real protection was the sturdy pillars that had been erected around the spirit spring.

The pillars were used as anchors for the arrays protecting the spirit springs. The most powerful array is the barrier shield.

From time to time, people pass through the shield and the protection to harvest some energy water from the spring. The legend and the other guards oversee this process.

But the legend isn't around anymore. There were only two rank 6 godclads and four rank 3 godclads.

All six of them were sitting around the spirit spring. They had their eye on the spirit spring and on each other, so there was no way for Sir Kris to attack one of them without being noticed by the others.

If he was noticed by the others, he would be besieged by the other five. In order to avoid this, he waited until Legion sent reinforcements first.

The reinforcement came in the form of people coming to harvest energy water from the spring. Legion, the giant, the thief, and Black Axe snuck in with the team using the Black Axe's Environmental Illusion divine ability.

The Environmental Illusion divine ability is a rank 3 of the pathway of the illusionist. The divine ability worked here because the array set up to detect how many people were entering the security system had been deactivated by someone from within the array.

The four people came to reinforce Sir Kris, which made the situation 5 against 5. This made it so that both sides finally had the same number of people, but it didn't mean that both sides were equal in power.

It wasn't that Legion didn't want to bring in more people. They didn't bring in more people simply because they didn't need to.

Chapter 2356: Over-preparation.

Just two of their slaves would be enough to kill the other five. The reason they brought five reinforcements is to finish the fight as quickly as possible and prevent any accidents from happening.

So the four slaves they brought with them was already them over-preparing and overestimating the defense of the energy spring.

As for their other slaves, they left them outside the barrier to monitor the situation and be useful in other ways.

For example, they needed someone to make sure that the other end of the gate that they carried into the barrier was functional so that they would be able to escape if something went wrong.

They had other plans that they hoped not to use. All in all, it can be said that they are very prepared.

Their plans were not perfect, but they ensured that they would be able to survive this endeavor if something went wrong. So it was with confidence that they entered the barrier.

As soon as they crossed the threshold of the barrier, Sir Kris took the control plate and locked down the barrier. Then he activated the highest state of defense for the barrier.

His actions caused a lot of confusion. But before anyone could ask why he did what he did, he attacked the other rank 6 godclad.

He used a deadly move that caught the noble off guard. The wealth that he had stored within the divine ability of Power of Wealth was consumed to fuel an attack using the rank 6 Wealth Armament divine ability.

Then he pointed his finger at the rank 6 noble. Before the noble could react, a golden lightning bolt shot out from the finger and into his face. ๐‘“๐“‡๐˜ฆโ„ฏ๐˜ธ๐˜ฆ๐‘๐“ƒ๐‘œ๐˜ทโ„ฏ๐‘™.๐‘๐‘œ๐“‚

The golden lightning bolt blasted the noble's face and head apart. He couldn't even say anything before he died.

He didn't die immediately. His body fell to the ground and twitched as the noble tried to recover from the injury that he had sustained.

Unfortunately, epic beings don't have the ability to recover a lost head. The best they can do is sustain their lives with spiritual energy. This will give them time for someone to come along to heal them, such as a healer from the light pathway.

But no help was coming this time because Sir Kris was not willing to leave any loose ends. He stepped on the twitching corpse and crushed it in order to cut off any future problem.

Even after the chest had caved in, the heart crushed, and the lungs flattened, the epic being still didn't die. It was because his spirit was still intact and still had a lot of spiritual energy to spare.

The spirit of the noble was trying to sustain the body and keep the connection between the soul and the body intact by spending spiritual energy. Unfortunately, its catastrophic injuries quickly depleted its spiritual energy and brought it to the state of irreversible death.

Even before he died, Sir Kris had leapt at the shocked guards standing around and begun killing them. It can be said that he was very sincere and proactive about helping Legion.

Not that he had much of a choice in the matter now that he had become a puppet for Legion. But it is a fact that he had spent a lot of his money to create that attack that neutralized the rank 6 noble instantly.

All three epic divine abilities of merchants have to do with money and gaining power from money. There is rank 4 Power of Wealth, rank 5 Burning Money, and rank 6 Wealth Armament.

The rank 4 Power of Wealth is the base or foundational divine ability for the other two, just like the Aegis Shield divine ability is for the other divine abilities of the pathway of undying.

The rank 4 Power of Wealth divine ability stores the wealth of an epic godclad for them. This wealth can then be used for the rank 4 divine ability or for the other two epic divine abilities.

If the money is used for the rank 5 Burning Money divine ability, the epic merchant gains a boost to their strength by burning money. This boost is temporary as opposed to the permanent and passive enhancement from the rank 4 Power of Wealth divine ability.

Burning money for power is cheap and can grant a lot of power for a lesser amount of money compared to the rank 4 Power of Money divine ability. This is why merchants will use it even though the boost is temporary.

If a merchant needs a lot of power in a short amount of time, they can resort to using the rank 5 Burning Money divine ability. After all, life is more valuable than wealth.

Merchants are miserly, but they understand that if they die, then their wealth will go to waste. Rather than dying, it is always smarter to burn money for power.

Merchants call the rank 5 Burning Money divine ability wasteful. They will only use it when they have no choice.

However, Sir Kris used an even more wasteful divine ability even though he was stronger than his opponent and was also catching him off guard.

He had two pathways, while his enemy had only one pathway. He also had the advantage of a surprise attack. To top it off, he also had access to the divine abilities that his enemy had, plus the divine abilities from the four pathways of his slave master.

It can be said he had all the advantage and would have come out on top. But he went ahead to consume his wealth to create a single attack in order to kill his disadvantageous enemy quickly.

The rank 6 Wealth Armament is a divine ability that converts money into attacks and defensive shields.

This is similar to the rank 9 Blood Sacrifice divine ability of the pathway of killing, but it doesn't use blood to fuel its attacks. What it uses is money, so a merchant with this divine ability must be rich to enjoy it.

Chapter 2357: Shattered Minds.

The Wealth Armament divine ability requires money, and a lot of it, to create its offensive and defensive means. Money is more expensive than lives and can even buy lives, so Blood Sacrifice has the advantage in cost of usage. ๐Ÿ๐š›๐•–๐šŽ๐•จ๐—ฒ๐›๐š—๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐•.๐œ๐—ผ๐—บ

The advantages that the Wealth Armament divine ability has are that it has a lower barrier of entry and can be used to protect one's life, not just for attacking.

Blood Sacrifice requires a killer to be an angel to use, while the Wealth Armament can be used by epic merchants. Plus, Blood Sacrifice does nothing to protect its user.

Killers have always believed that the best defense is an offense. If they are going to die, then they might as well bring everyone down with them.

Legion had all the advantage in this ambush, but they didn't want to waste time fighting epic beings. They came here to advance, not fight, so they opted to spend a lot of money to end the fight as soon as possible.

The only rank 6 godclad that could resist them was eliminated quickly. The remaining five guards were rank 4, so Sir Kris and the other three slaves that Legion brought with them could handle them.

The first divine ability that they used was Psychic Howl. When Sir Kris used it, a silent and formless mental wave spread out from his head to everyone in his surroundings.

The mental wave was silent as it traveled, but those the wave touched heard a great scream. The scream pierced deep into their minds and shattered their concentration.

The remaining guards were about to react and attack before the Psychic Howl divine ability was used. But once it was used, they became stunned and immobile.

The light of focus in their eyes had been shattered so their eyes became dim and their gaze became unfocused. They stared forward looking at nothing while Sir Kris advanced on them like a lion on ship.

The damage that Psychic Howl had done to them was immense. The first layer of their minds had been shattered by the divine ability, so they couldn't make thoughts in their mind.

Their mind was blank and it would remain like that for a long time. Unfortunately, this wasn't the time for them to be distracted. Sir Kris was unforgiving to those who made that mistake while fighting him.

While the fight, or in this case, the massacre, was going on, Legion went towards the energy spring to soak in it. They didn't bother to intervene in the fight and no one bothered to stop them either.

The energy spring looked very different from the spring of life. Its waters were clear and transparent, not milky white like the waters of life. But the entire pond was glowing with a bright light that illuminated the environment and made it look like day.

The people living in tenebrium wouldn't have known about the existence of daylight if not for the sun present in the spiritual dimension. But even that daylight is tainted and meant to kill, not give life.

Legion had experienced true and fresh daylight in the void universe, so they knew what daylight felt like. In that moment as they sank into the energy spring, they experienced that feeling again.

The energy lake was deeper than the spring of life. It was also deeper than they were tall, so they were submerged completely into it when they entered.

Just as they sank into the energy spring, a very angry being arrived above the energy spring. When the angry being saw what was going on within the barrier, they became even angrier.

The legendary noble roared at them, "How dare you?"

This was the legend who was tasked to guard the city and watch the forest for any attacks. He had set up a domain all over the city, which had one rule that would inform him of any attacks or violence in the city.

The rule was aimed at catching any secret attacks from the beasts and also from the gangs in the outer city hoping to bypass the ban on fighting and take advantage of the current weakness of the outer city to expand their territory.

It wasn't the domain that informed him of violence, though. His domain had only informed him that the barrier shield around him was put in its strongest state, which suggested an attack.

His domain hadn't informed him of the violence within the barrier shield because the barrier had cut off the influence of his rule after it was put in its strongest state.

This had confused him, and he came here to figure out what was going on. He didn't expect that an attack was really going on.

So he was first stunned when he came and saw what was going on within the shield. Then he became angry and roared.

The legends of the city were more concerned about the gangs and other people with greedy motives causing trouble from within the city than they were worried about an attack from the forest. This was why the legend on guard set up the domain.

They suspected a lot of things, but they didn't suspect an attack on the energy spring of the city. They didn't have much reason to fear one because they had one of the strongest epic beings in the world guarding the energy spring and a strong barrier capable of resisting even legends.

But the epic godclad that they were counting on turned against them. Not only that, but the barrier that was supposed to protect the energy spring had also been turned against them. Anyone that this happened to would be furious.

The legendary noble ordered them, "Open the barrier now."

Legion didn't say anything. They only focused on absorbing the energy spring.

The energy spring itself is very large and will take them a lot of time to absorb. Fortunately, they have many souls, many pathways, and many consciousnesses, so the rate at which they digest energy water is very high.

Chapter 2358: Talking For Peaceful Resolution.

Thanks to Legion's high digestion rate, it won't take them days to absorb the energy spring. They should be done in a little over an hour if they can maintain their speed and nothing interrupts them.

Even so, they didn't dare expend any mental energy speaking with the legend. They left that job to Sir Kris while the focused everything they had on absorbing the energy spring.

Sir Kris stepped forward and bowed to the legend, saying, "Ancestor, may you be well. May your days be peaceful and your nights be pleasant. May your life be..."

He was stalling for time, but the legendary noble was having none of it. The legend shouted at him, "Cut the nonsense and open the barrier right this instant."

Sir Kris asked, "If I open the barrier, what will you do?"

The legend was furious. The blue feathers on his neck and head straightenes in anger as he said, "How dare you question me? If I say you should do something, you should do it immediately."

Even his blue hair had flared up and his eyes were glowing. He looked like a cock that had been angered. His eyes were blazing in anger and he looked ready to fight to the death.

Sir Kris was not going to do what the legend asked for. But he wasn't going to say that outright.

Instead he pleaded, "I know that you are angry with me. But why don't you listen to my side of the story first? You should know why I did what I did before you judge me."

Actually, the legend didn't know exactly what was going on. All he knew was that Sir Kris had joined some people from the other city to kill the guards protecting the energy spring.

But he doesn't want to listen to anything now. He doesn't want to know what is going on or not. What he wants above all else is to regain access to the energy spring, as that is the most important thing, not Kris's motives and goals.

The best way for him to gain access to the energy spring is for the controller of the barrier shield to open a passage for him. He can't force his way in because the barrier shield is a high-level one created by a legendary mage.

The barrier shield was created to withstand attacks up to rank 8 and not be destroyed. The shield also uses the energy spring as its foundation and source of energy.

To make sure that the barrier shield would be able to withstand a lot of damage, it was created to be capable of healing itself. It can heal as long as there is energy, so any attack that doesn't destroy it instantly will only be draining the energy spring.

A rank 7 legend is incapable of destroying the shield instantly. So if he attempts to force his way in, he will only be destroying what he wants to protect. This is why he, a high and mighty legend, has to coerce an epic godclad to give him access.

Unfortunately, asking Sir Kris to open the barrier was like going on a wild goose chase. It was unlikely to bring forth any meaningful rewards.

Sir Kris didn't open the door. Instead, he began telling his story: "I have always thought that the way this city was being run was flawed and inefficient. But I was incapable of changing anything because I was weak. So I decided to do something to force you and the other ancestors to see the error of your ways."

Then he went on to list the many problems he had with the city. His problems ranged from using outsiders to protect the outer city to not allowing any noble to make Reinfield City into their personal territory.

What he was saying was mostly nonsense. The real Sir Kris was dissatisfied about a lot of things going on in the city. But he would never have attacked the foundation of the city like this.

Sir Kris was just trying to waste time by sounding reasonable and seeming like he had a reason for what he was doing. That way, the legends will think they can stop him from doing what he was doing by appeasing him and promising to rectify the problems he mentioned.

What he was doing actually worked. The legend decided to try and convince him to change.

The legendary noble said, "No matter how bad things have gotten, you should have come to me first before you made this drastic move."

"But don't worry. Things can still be saved if you stop now. I will speak up for you and make sure that the other legends are lenient with you."

Sir Kris asked in surprise, "Really? You would do that for me?"

The legend nodded and said, "Of course I will. We are family after all. Besides, you are very talented. We can't just kill you and lose out on such a great talent because you made a mistake."

What the legendary noble said was mostly the truth. Much damage hasn't been done yet, and the legend thinks that Sir Kris is doing this because he is going insane and losing control.

So he is not angry enough to want to kill Sir Kris for the blunder.

He said sincerely, "I will save you. You can trust me about that. If you can't count on family, then who can you count on in this world?"

Sir Kris nodded and said, "That's true. It is good to know that I can always count on my family."

The legend smiled from beyond the barrier and said, "So you have nothing to worry about. Open the barrier for me."

Sir Kris replied, "But I still have more problems that I haven't mentioned."

The legend became irritated but he didn't show it on his face. Instead, he urged Sir Kris with false sincerity in his voice, "We can chat more after you remove the barrier shield."

Chapter 2359: Something Off.

The legendary noble quickly explained before Sir Kris could reject the request, "This barrier is consuming a lot of energy with the state you've put it in. At least remove it from its full state so that the energy spring won't be harmed."

Then he sighed and said, "Don't do it for me. Do it for your family and do it for your city."

What he said made Sir Kris conflicted. It showed on Sir Kris's face. He was struggling to decide what to do.

The legendary noble saw this and decided to strike while the iron was hot. He said with a calm voice that didn't show any of his expectation and desperation, "You aim to solve some of the problems of the city right? I don't think it will be helpful to the city if you add more to its problems."

Sir Kris struggled more and more. He appeared to be unable to decide between continuing his crusade or opting to ease the strain on the energy spring.

Meanwhile, the legendary noble watched on with anticipation. He thought to himself with a sneer, "Just give me one tiny opening and I'll flatten you to pieces."

All he needs to make a move is for the barrier to fall back to its standby mode. If it falls back to its standby, it won't be able to completely block the influence of his domain and other divine abilities.

In the stand by mode, which is the state that the barrier usually stays all the time, the barrier can only block physical force, not spiritual force.

So if Sir Kris slips and reverts the barrier from its energy intensive complete mode to its energy conservative standby mode, he will be able to use his domain to kill everyone within the barrier immediately.

But Sir Kris, who had seem conflicted, still refused to let down his guard.

He asked uncertainly, "But if I remove the shield, you won't want to listen to my problems, and you won't take me seriously anymore. Only when the shield is up will there be urgency and only with urgency will you have to listen to me."

The legendary noble sighed and said, "Fine. State all of your problems. Just be quick about it."

He decided to continue listening to what Sir Kris had to say. Not that he had much choice in the matter.

His only hope to solve this problem quickly and efficiently is to deescalate the matter by convincing the perpetrator to give up. He was right about this, but he was wrong about who the perpetrator was.

He couldn't see Legion because Legion had sunk into the energy spring. All he saw were four people standing around the energy spring and setting up some things.

He didn't know that Legion was in the energy spring absorbing it, and the things being set up were another set of barriers and a gateway to escape.

So by his estimate, this whole thing was a temper tantrum. He thought that it wasn't much for him to spend an hour trying to convince Sir Kris to stop messing around.

It wasn't until he noticed the water in the energy spring had fallen below half of its capacity that he sensed that something was wrong.

The water in the energy spring shouldn't be reducing since no one was harvesting it and no one was attacking the barrier. The only reason the water in the energy spring will be reducing is if someone is stealing it with a secret method.

The legendary noble roared in anger at Sir Kris, "What's going on with the energy spring?"

Sir Kris asked innocently, "What do you mean?"

The legend had had enough of his nonsense. He said, "I order you to open this barrier now, or I will have your wife and children killed."

He had already ordered people to apprehend Sir Kris's family earlier. He hadn't wanted to use them to compel Sir Kris before because he didn't want Sir Kris to lose his mind completely.

But his caution hadn't paid off, and he had become desperate. So he ordered for Sir Kris's family to be brought forward now.

Sir Kris's face darkened when he saw his wife and kids brought forward with a blade to their necks.

He gritted his teeth and said, "You have gone too far, ancestor."

The legendary noble couldn't contain his anger anymore. He roared as he said, "You are the one that has gone too far. Don't you know that you are destroying our city? Snap out of it and open this barrier now."

Sir Kris appeared to have become angry too. Like a rebellious child, he asked, "And what if I don't open the barrier and you kill them? What next? Will you kill everyone related to the Edwin family, including my brothers and sisters, and uncles and aunties, and my nieces and my nephews?"

"What about my grandparents? And my grand uncles? And my grand aunties?"

He began listing everyone related to him one by one. It was a long list, but he appeared in no rush to list them.

He was willing to list them and their names one by one, but the legendary noble had had enough.

The noble shouted at him, "Enough of this. Will you open the barrier now and live, or refuse to open the barrier and die with you and your family?"

Sir Kris refused to answer the question. Instead, he went on another rant: "This is another one of the problems I have with Reinfield. You know what, make it two problems."

"You think because you're strong you can have your way with everyone, including your descendants. You treat us like grass. What's more, I can't complain to you about it, or you will threaten to kill me."

"This situation is a perfect example of how bad everything has gotten. Here I am, a model citizen of this city, trying to have an honest conversation with you in which I hope to lay out the problems of the city to you. But you don't want to listen."

Chapter 2360: Plant Cannibalism.

As he spoke, he became angrier and angrier, "Instead of listening and taking notes with an open heart and an open mind, you kidnap my family and threaten me with them."

"That's just shameless. I didn't think you could stoop to something so low and dishonorable. If you are not ashamed, I am ashamed for you. I didn't think you were capable of such a shameless and cowardly act."

"How is this city supposed to become better if you continue to act like a tyrant? How are we supposed to care for the city if you treat us like slaves?"

"You know what? I already know the answer to that question. We don't care about the city at all. Especially after you showed that you were willing to watch us die instead of quickly subduing the two ancestors that had lost control and become mad."

"Because you cared too much for your lives, you refused to do your best to eliminate the threat that the two ancestors had become. And because you didn't care about our lives at all, you were willing to watch us die trying to do something you were unwilling to die for."

"Slake died because of you. I didn't die, but I was injured. If not for the angel of death teasing you, you would have probably watched everyone of us die before you decided to do what was needed to eliminate the problem."

"You are tyrants. But much worse than that is that you are stupid tyrants."

The legendary noble roared at him, "Listen to me, you disrespectful shit. I order you to..."

Sir Kris didn't let him finish. He roared back, "No, you listen to me. Listen to my problems and promise to solve them, or I will never open this barrier."

The two sides began to argue and bicker with each other. Everyone watching didn't know what to do. They didn't know to be afraid or be confused by this trading of words.

But some people were amused by the sight. Actually, one person in particular was very amused and was laughing contentedly.

The person who was laughing was a young man with red hair and red eyes. He was standing on top of a building eating popcorn and watching the show.

The building he was standing on was in the outer city. But it was tall enough to give him a vantage point, and his eyesight was good enough to see from the outer city, past the inner city, and to the core of Reinfield City.

As the man watched, he grabbed a handful of popcorn and threw it into his mouth. In response, his mouth split open and spread wide for the popcorn to enter his mouth.

His mouth had split up to his ears, so it was very wide. Even so, not every piece of popcorn that he threw entered his mouth. Some popcorn missed his mouth and fell to the ground.

As for the ones that entered his mouth, they were caught by his long twisting tongue. Then they were crushed by the many rows of teeth in his mouth.

His whole mouth was full of teeth. Even the roof of his mouth had teeth in it. The bottom of his mouth, underneath his tongue, wasn't spared from the presence of teeth either.

His teeth were all sharp canine teeth, and his tongue wasn't flat. His tongue was thin, long, and forked into three.

The young man looked handsome and normal on the outside, but within him, he was very abnormal. Those who only see his external appearance would surely be fooled into thinking that he is a harmless human. ๐š๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐ž๐š ๐•–๐›๐—ป๐—ผ๐ฏ๐•–๐š•.๐šŒ๐—ผ๐—บ

At most he would be suspected of being a weak godclad of the pathway of killing. His red eyes and red hair will be the main clues to hint at that possibility. But apart from that, he seemed easygoing and fun-loving.

As the man watched the show and ate his popcorn, he said, "This is what I have been missing all along. A fun show and interesting food to eat while watching the show. The forest is so boring."

He thought to himself briefly, "Does this count as cannibalism?"

He asked himself that question because popcorn is made from a plant, and he is a plant. The question amused him and made him chuckle again.

Instead of stopping, he grabbed more popcorn and popped it into his mouth. As someone who has lived most of his boring life in the forest, he was enjoying himself immensely.

He is the angel of death living in the forest. To be exact, this is just one of his avatars.

The ability to create avatars is one of the benefits of becoming an angel. When demigods win the fight against the projection of their divine form and become angels, they gain the ability to control those projections and turn them into their avatars.

Unlike projections of divine form, which can only be attached to the main body, avatars can move very far away from the main body. They can be used as second bodies.

In this case, the angel of death decided to use his avatar to travel and see the world. His main body can't move and doesn't want to move, but he can still enjoy himself through his avatars.

This is one of the reasons why he doesn't want to destroy Reinfield City. The attack with the beast tide had only been for his amusement.

If the attack with the beast tide had failed completely and he didn't gain any entertainment from it, then things would have escalated far beyond the death of so many mortals, tens of epic beings, and two legends.

In order to entertain himself and have fun, he would have done more dangerous things that would have put all of Reinfield City at risk.

Fortunately he got his way and was entertained, so Reinfield remained standing. Now another interesting thing was happening in the city. It made him glad that he decided to keep Reinfield City.

Chapter 2361: Suppression Of Rank.

With that final thought, he reverted his attention to what was going on at the energy spring.

From his vantage point, he could see the legendary noble. He had blue hair and blue feathers on the back of neck and on top of his head like the comb of a chicken.

The legendary noble was talking down to someone in the barrier. The avatar of the angel of killing could hear what they were saying from his position despite being so far away.

He could even sense more than the legendary noble could even though the legend was closer to the energy spring than him.

What he sensed made him say in amusement, "There is a killer in the energy spring. The killer is rank 6. He is just one step away from the legendary rank, so if there is a plausible motive for what he is doing, it is that he wants to advance to the legendary rank."

"But that's not the advancement requirement for the legendary rank of killing. The advancement requirement for the pathway of killing is to kill a lot of people, not sit inside an energy spring and absorb it. So he must be trying to advance in another pathway."

"If my knowledge is correct, absorbing an energy spring is the advancement requirement for beasts and humans in the pathway of the undying. Since he is not a beast, he must be a human."

"So he is a human with two pathways. He seems like a smart human too, mixing the pathways of killing and undying together. But how long will he last with that arrangement?"

The legendary noble didn't know that there was someone in the energy spring, but he knew because the person in the energy spring is a killer. He wouldn't have known if the person didn't possess the divine flesh of the pathway of killing in their body.

What he can sense about the person is the divine flesh of killing that they possess. He can sense every divine flash of killing around him too. This is another benefit of reaching the peak of the pathway of killing.

Not only can he sense the divine flesh of killing, but he can also shut them down and prevent weaker killers from being able to resist him. This is a privilege that angels have over every godclad in their pathway from rank 1 to rank 6.

It is normal that higher-ranked godclads in one's pathway will be able to suppress the weaker ones in a fight. After all, they have all the divine abilities that the weaker ones have, and they also have a stronger spiritual power and more spiritual energy to use it.

But this kind of suppression goes far beyond having the advantage of power. The suppression of an angel on epic godclads is so bad that their divine flesh will turn against them and refuse to activate.

Even legends are not exempt from this suppression. It is just that legends and demigods can resist. But they will have to liberate their divine forms in order to resist the suppression of an angel.

But this suppression is not as bad as the one that a god of the pathway will have on everyone in the pathway. A god is like a mountain pressing down on everyone in the pathway.

The will of the god influences everyone in their pathway. For example, when the god of killing ran mad and began massacring the whole world, every killer was compelled to kill with him.

That kind of power is both feared and coveted. He certainly covets it, and he is just one step away from gaining that kind of power. Unfortunately, that step is far away from him and obstructed by a large chasm called the god of justice.

On the one hand, he is glad that the god of justice has prevented a god of killing from appearing. It is only because of the hard work of the god of justice that he can reach this stage.

But now that he has reached this stage of power, he wants to take the next step and ascend. For that to be achieved, he has to go against the god of justice who has helped him so much.

This dilemma made him ask himself, "Should I try to use the pathway of undying too? It will surely increase my survivability against the Church of Justice and their God."

But then he shook his head. "Too dangerous. I barely managed to reach this stage. I can't afford to throw a wrench into the delicate balance that I have with my divine flesh."

He has become an angel, but he is still at risk of losing control. Especially since not every one of his avatars is under his control.

In order to defeat his divine flesh and advance to rank 9, he came to a special arrangement with it. He and the divine flesh will compete for control of the main body using the avatar that they control.

Every avatar has all of the main body's memories, so they all have the knowledge that he possesses. They also have the same divine ability and power.

The main difference between them is that some of his avatars are controlled by his original consciousness, while the others are controlled by the product of the fusion of his souls and the divine flesh.

If something were to happen to the main consciousness and he slips up, the other consciousness will use that opportunity to take complete control.

This loss of control on his part can have very little impact, as both consciousnesses believe that they are the true one, or it can have a big negative impact, as the loss of the three souls that he used as the foundation for the pathway of killing causes his existence to collapse.

This is the delicate balance in his existence that he can't afford to disturb by adding more divine flesh to it.

Chapter 2362: Getting Played.

Even if he somehow finds a way to maintain the balance of his existence after acquiring the pathway of undying, the divine flesh of the pathway of undying will only add to his stress and make it more difficult to maintain the balance and make it easier for him to lose control.

So he can do what the killer in the energy spring is doing and have two pathways. The best he can do is admire their foolish decision while eating popcorn.

For now, he doesn't plan to intervene in the fight. There is just nothing to gain yet by doing that.

He doesn't want to show himself easily, or the nobles of the city will become wary and target him. He also doesn't want to expose his location to the other avatars, as they might try to kill him to gain control of the main body.

So he watched with rapt attention. As he watched, things became heated because the head of the killer in the energy spring had become exposed.

The legendary noble realized that someone was in the energy spring and was absorbing it. He also came to the same conclusion that the person was an undying godclad trying to become a legend.

This conclusion was already enough to make him incensed. But what tipped the scale was the realization that Sir Kris had been playing around with him all along.

He had been angry earlier with Sir Kris, but even when he threatened to kill his family, it was mostly a bluff. He didn't want to go through with it and hoped that he wouldn't have to because it could make Sir Kris lose control completely.

But now he knew that there was no going back and Sir Kris couldn't be convinced to open the barrier. Since the energy spring was doomed and there was nothing to lose, he gave the order to behead Sir Kris's family.

Sir Kris watched as his three wives and the remaining four children were killed. He should have been angry or bitter or sad. But he was just calm.

His eyes were cold, and his face was expressionless. It looked as if he had just witnessed the death of chickens and dogs, not his precious family.

He didn't say anything either. Since the cat was already out of the bag, there was no use saying anything to delay anymore. No one was going to care about what he had to say when the energy spring was at stake.

What he did was to activate the second set of barrier arrays that Legion brought within them. This barrier shield was prepared in case the nobles had a backdoor to the one protecting the energy spring.

Sir Kris believed that there was only one control panel for the barrier shield. But Legion wasn't going to take any chances.

They prepared a second barrier shield that was as powerful as the first one and was also capable of fusing with the first one.

They used the control panel of the first and the same foundation, the energy spring, to combine the two arrays to create one powerful array that couldn't be taken down even if the nobles had another way to access the first barrier.

The fusion of the two barriers not only created a more powerful barrier shield, but it also blocked sight and sound.

The resulting barrier had become black and opaque. Nothing could be seen through it anymore, and communication between those outside and inside of it became impossible.

Their caution paid off because the nobles indeed had a way to break into the barrier. They didn't want to use this method because it wouldn't open a passage into the barrier but would destroy the barrier completely.

They didn't want to use the barrier breaker earlier because there was no need for it. But now that it had been confirmed that they would lose the energy spring if they didn't destroy the barrier, they decided to use the barrier breaker.

The barrier breaker is a rank 8 item specifically designed by mages to break arrays. The item works by deciphering the operation of an array and striking at its weakness with a lethal blow.

This usually leads to the array being shattered. Unfortunately, the barrier breaker needed time to set up before it could be used.

The barrier breaker needed time to decipher the operation of the array before it could strike its weakness. This time could be long or short. It depended on the power and complexity of the barrier.

The time will definitely be long because Legion had upgraded the barrier. What's more, Legion has a slave that is a machinist, so they are knowledgeable enough to make changes to the upgraded barrier that would make it difficult for the barrier breaker to find its weakness.

This was exactly what happened. The barrier breaker was brought in to destroy the barrier while the four slaves worked to keep the upgraded barrier working.

The barrier breaker was a large white disk. It was placed against the barrier and began to flash with various colors as it got to work deciphering the operation of the barrier.

The barrier breaker will be destroyed after releasing the attack to destroy the shield. So it is a one-time-use item.

If the barrier breaker succeeds in its endeavors, both it and the shield will be destroyed. This will be a huge loss for the nobles, which is why the legendary noble had been willing to try and convince Sir Kris earlier instead of resorting to this.

Unfortunately, it was already too late to use the barrier breaker. Even if the legendary noble began attacking the barrier now, it wouldn't be able to destroy the barrier quickly because Legion also brought a log of energy water to support the independent operation of the upgraded barrier shield.

So even though absorbing the energy spring took longer than Legion expected, they were still able to do it peacefully without any interruptions.

Chapter 2363: United As One.

It took them more than two hours to absorb the energy spring, not the one hour they initially estimated. It took them this much time because the root of the energy spring was difficult to absorb.

The root was more difficult to absorb than expected because they had the divine flesh of four pathways in their body, not just the divine flesh of just the pathway of undying. The extra divine flesh caused some resistance to the absorption.

But they finally absorbed it. When they did, all the divine flesh of the pathway of undying in their bodies began to glow.

There was also the presence of a seed in their soul space. This seed was the product of the fusion of the roots of the energy spring and the core of the spring of life.

The seed had a core and many roots attached to it. The roots spread out and attached themselves to all six divine flesh of the pathway of undying, thereby creating a connection between all of them.

Instead of the divine flesh being separate and acting on their own, they can now work together. This indicated they were ready to advance to rank 7.

At least they finally have the permission of their divine flesh and the conditions needed to advance. As for success in the attempt, that was another matter entirely.

But Legion was confident as they took the box containing the rank 7 divine flesh from the slave that brought it over.

They opened the box and also opened their mouth. Then they poured the content of the box into their mouth.

The divine flesh in the box was a silver liquid mass. It flowed from the box like mercury and onto their face.

When it fell on their face, it covered up their entire face. But then it gathered itself and entered their mouth of its volition.

The silver liquid divine flesh slid down their throat and sank into their flesh. It penetrated their flesh so much that it passed the body-soul barrier to enter their soul space.

It arrived above the space above Legion-1, Legion-2, and Legion-3 since they were in charge of the pathway of undying. It fused with the glowing seed above them and pushed down on their three souls.

As the divine flesh pushed down on their souls, the three divine flesh of rank 4, rank 5, and rank 6 that used to be above their souls were knocked out of the soul space and into their bodies.

This was where the second part of advancing to rank 7 began. It was also the most difficult part of advancing.

Anyone who has met the advancement requirement won't have a problem knocking the three divine flesh into their bodies. But the fusion of the three divine flesh into their bodies is what has caused the death of so many people.

The three divine flesh added to the previous three in the body and began changing the body again. For legends to survive this process, they must have a mastery of at least 50% of all six divine abilities of that pathway.

Achieving 50% mastery in six divine abilities in 200 years of life span is a tough order for many people. Many epic beings grow old and die trying to achieve it.

The difficulty of achieving this minimum requirement is why many people would rather give up early on and enjoy their power and extra life span as epic godclads instead of wasting what time they have striving for something they will most likely fail to achieve.

Only ambitious people with access to a lot of energy or water or talented people with innate talents that match the pathway get to meet this advancement and advance to the legendary realm.

Legion is ambitious. They have access to a lot of energy and water and have a perfect talent. So they have the right to advance to the legendary realm.

This right is unchanging even though they haven't achieved 50% mastery in all six of their divine abilities. This lack of minimum mastery only meant that the process was more painful and took more time for them. It isn't something they couldn't handle.

The people outside the barrier didn't know that they were already in the process of breaking through. But they didn't need to see it happening to suspect that it is happening.

After all, they have already seen Legion in the energy spring and already come to the conclusion that their goal was to advance to the legendary rank. So they wouldn't be surprised at all that Legion was advancing right before them.

It was a good thing that they didn't witness the process because it wasn't for the faint-hearted. Any being that wasn't an epic god clad with the divine flesh in their bodies to help them resist would have died for witnessing the process.

Even epic godclads would have felt the spiritual impact, and it would have been strong enough to knock out the weak ones because Legion had a lot of spiritual energy in their body.

The large amount of spiritual energy in their body caused a lot of spiritual impact during the transformation. In fact, some of the spiritual energy ejected out of their bodies like steam from a pressurized pot and caused wind to stir within the barrier.

To be fair, it seemed that Legion's body was being cooked. They were not in boiling water, but their body was being tempered by their own spiritual energy and an explosion of energy water from the rooting seed that they had formed after absorbing the energy spring and the spring of life.

Part of the reason why their advancement process was so violent was that the rooting seed was finally growing throughout their body. The second part was that there were nine other divine flesh in their body that was resisting the change.

Fortunately, their innate talent came to their rescue and calmed down the situation. Thanks to the adaptation ability, their body was able to adapt and accommodate the changes without breaking down.

Chapter 2364: Horned Diamond Rhino.

Their body enlarged and became grotesque many times. But at the end of the day, their body settled into the form of a chiseled statue.

The statue was humanoid. It had the head of a rhino with a single large horn on its face. It was very tall at 10 meters, and it was white.

Not only was it white, but its body was gleaming and glittering. This was because its body seemed to be made of diamond.

The form of the white humanoid rhino statue was rigid, as if cut from raw diamond. But it was flexible and could move its joints.

This was their divine form. It is the form they get when all their previous six divine abilities activate and work together as one instead of six separate entities.

In particular, the diamond look of their skin is as a result of the Aegis Shield. But the diamond is not only skin deep. They are completely made of living diamond down to their muscles, bones, internal flesh, and even their blood.

In this form with all of their divine abilities working together, their mastery of their divine abilities began to rise. Their mastery soared quickly and didn't slow down until all seven of them reached 50%.

This is a privilege that legends gain when they advance and gain the divine form. They can liberate their divine form and use that to gain mastery of their divine abilities. It is where the statement came from that the fastest way to gain mastery of divine abilities is to mutate.

Normal people can't have the privilege of mutating and maintaining control. Only legends can.

However, legends rarely take advantage of this privilege because they have usually reached 50% mastery in their divine abilities before they become legends. As for the rest of the mastery, they try to take it slow because losing control in their liberated form is a big possibility.

But Legion doesn't have that worry. After seven of their divine abilities reached 50%, the progress of gaining mastery slowed down. Only then did they remove their divine form and return to their human form.

Their normal human form has also changed. Their skin and hair are white now. They also have a white horn on their forehead. This feature is similar to the blue feathers on the head and neck of legendary nobles.

The progress didn't stop of gaining mastery didn't stop, but they chose to revert to their humanoid form for wow because they wanted their body to heal and their minds to rest.

Being in their divine form is strenuous on them. Seeing as they just advanced, they wanted to recover a little bit before relishing their newfound power.

They had another reason to want to keep themselves in their peak state. This reason has to do with the upcoming fight which they don't want to lose, so they stopped to rest.

They also used the Mindscape to recover the energy water that they had stored within it. Then they used the energy water to recover their spiritual energy.

They didn't drink the energy water like they used to do before. They simply poured it on their body, and it was absorbed quickly. Then their twelve souls and 25 divine flesh began digesting the absorbed energy water.

Other legends like them would probably have 3 souls and 7 divine flesh. So their digestion rate would be 21 units of energy water per minute.

But Legion has 12 souls and 25 divine flesh, so their digestion rate is 300 units of energy water per minute. That is 14 times the digestion rate of their peers.

This digestion rate is also why they didn't stop at just recovering their spiritual energy. They also sought to raise their spiritual power to the maximum level allowed for rank 7, and they were confident that they would be able to achieve that before the upcoming fight.

They could avoid the fight entirely, as they have prepared a gate and already have an escape plan. But there is benefit to be had by standing and fighting, so they decided to fight.

The other reason why they decided to fight instead of running is that they are confident of gaining what they want now by fighting.

Their confidence doesn't come from their impressive digestion rate. Fortunately, their digestion rate is not the only advantage they have over other legends. They have gained more than that.

In terms of spiritual power and normal physical power, they have no advantage over other legends. They also don't have any advantage in terms of mastery of divine abilities.

What they have in those two aspects are pretty normal. But they have advantages in other aspects.

Chapter 2365: Legendary Advantages.

Most, if not every, legend has a 50% in all of their divine abilities. Their mastery only increases the longer they've been legends.

So even with the 70% mastery of some of their divine abilities, they don't have any advantage in that aspect over other legends. But in terms of spiritual energy, they have a lot of advantages.

Normal legends will have nine storages of spiritual energy. These nine are the six divine flesh in their body and their three souls.

Each storage of spiritual energy can hold 640 units of spiritual energy. So normal legends of one pathway can hold up to 5,760 units of spiritual energy.

This is a massive upgrade from the 1,280 units of spiritual energy that epic godclads with one pathway have. This massive change in capacity is because epic godclads can only store spiritual energy in the three divine flesh in their bodies and in one soul, while legends have more storage for spiritual energy.

They used to have four times the normal amount of spiritual energy as epic godclads. That was 5,120 units of spiritual energy. But they have gained nearly a 100% upgrade just by advancing with one pathway.

Only one of their four pathways had been upgraded so far, but the increase in spiritual energy capacity is still massive. Their capacity increased from 5,120 to 9,600. That is an increase of 85%.

This increase in their capacity of spiritual energy has granted them an advantage of 3,840 units of spiritual energy above other legends.

This advantage is only 66% more spiritual energy than normal legends with one pathway, but the advantage will increase to 300% when they advance their other three pathways to the legendary rank.

In the meantime, this advantage in spiritual energy can be easily converted into power by liberating their divine form.

When legends liberate their divine forms, all three of their souls can be used to enhance their power. This enhancement is in the form of their spiritual power of their three souls combining to enhance the power of their physique.

For example, in the case of strength, their power is 640 units. When they liberate their divine form, the power of their strength will become 640 (Strength) + ((3 (Souls) ร— 1,280 (Spiritual Power)) ร— %Mastery/100).

On one side is the power of their strength, and on the other side is the power of their three souls. Their divine flesh is the channel for enhancing their physical power with the power of their souls, so the proportion of the power of their souls that can be used for enhancement is dependent on the lowest mastery of divine flesh in their body.

In their case, their lowest mastery is 50%. This is usually the lowest mastery for every legend. So their strength after liberating their divine form changes from 640 units to 640 (Strength) + ((3 (Souls) ร— 1,280 (Spiritual Power)) ร— 50% Mastery/100), which is 2,560 units.

2,560 units of strength is a fourfold increase in the power of their strength. This increase will double when all of their divine flesh has been mastered to 100%.

This increase in power in the liberated form is why other legends are no match for a legend once that legend has unleashed their divine form.

Even if the divine beast form is lacking in spiritual energy to generate the enhancement, it will be very difficult for other legends to defeat the divine beast form. A rank 8 demigod will have to act to defeat a rank 7 divine beast.

Every legend gains this boost from their divine flesh. So not only do legends gain the increase to spiritual energy capacity, but they also gain a liberated mode that enhances all of their physical power.

A talented rank 6 epic godclad might be able to match a legend when they are still human. But once that legend unleashes their divine beast form, that rank 6 legend is likely to become mincemeat.

But all of this extra power comes at the cost of spiritual energy. In the divine beast form, it will be as if they are constantly using all seven of their divine abilities at the same time. This will improve their mastery of their divine abilities and even improve their power, but it will quickly drain them of their energy.

For a legend in their divine beast form, the consumption of spiritual energy will increase from 0 units per second to at least 7 units of spiritual energy per second. ๐Ÿ๐š›๐•–๐šŽ๐•จ๐—ฒ๐›๐š—๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐•.๐œ๐—ผ๐—บ

The consumption can be even greater than that in some cases. But even if it is still 7 units of spiritual energy per second, a normal legend with a spiritual energy capacity of 5,760 will only be able to gain 822 seconds of enhancement, or 13.71 minutes of enhancement.

They have a spiritual energy capacity of 9,600 units, so they can get a boost that will last 1,371 seconds, or 22.85 minutes.

This is just the advantage they will get without accounting for their regeneration of spiritual energy. Once their regeneration of spiritual energy is accounted for, they will gain another advantage.

A normal legend with three souls will have a spiritual energy recovery rate of 192 units per hour. But this can't make up for the consumption of 420 units of spiritual energy needed to maintain their divine beast form per hour.

Rank 1 godclads regenerate spiritual energy at a rate of 1 per hour. This recovery rate doubles for each advancement. But it also triples after doubling at the legendary rank. So a normal rank 6 godclad will have a regeneration of 32 units of spiritual energy per hour.

Legion have twelve consciousnesses, so they had a recovery rate of 384 per hour when they were at rank 6. That regeneration rate has increased to 480 units per hour now.

A regeneration rate of 480 units of spiritual energy per hour means that they can sustain the boost from their divine form indefinitely.

Chapter 2366: Schemes And Tricks.

Their recovery rate of 480 units of spiritual energy per hour is greater than the consumption of their divine form, which is 420 units of spiritual energy per hour.

So as long as they don't use any divine abilities in their divine beast form, they will be able to maintain the boost from their divine beast form indefinitely.

With this kind of recovery rate, not only will they be able to maintain their divine form indefinitely, but they will also be able to use their spiritual energy for the divine abilities in their pathway and the other three pathways for a very long time.

Of course, this is as long as their souls don't collapse under the strain. But even if their souls begin to fracture from the stress of maintaining their divine form state for long periods of time, they can just take energy water to recover to their peak state.

They can also use the rank 2 Life Siphon divine ability of the pathway of slavery to preserve the integrity of their souls by sacrificing the lives of their souls.

As long as they don't need to sacrifice the lives of their slaves, they can also use them as energy sources in case they run out of energy. This makes the third advantage that they have over other legends in terms of energy.

These three advantages are why they are confident in their victory. But even so, they still decided to play some tricks and use some schemes because their total number of enemies isn't just one legendary noble.

The fact that only one legendary noble has appeared doesn't mean he will only be fighting one of them. With their domain divine ability, as long as the legendary nobles are in this city, they will be able to attack Legion, so they have to use everything at their disposal to fight.

The first of their tricks is to order their slaves to attack the city from various directions. They did this to see where the other legends are and to make them consume their spiritual energy before fighting them.

The first of their slaves that they sent were the four new rank 6 beasts that they just bought. The four beasts attacked from the north, south, east, and west.

The legendary noble sensed the attacks immediately. Even though he could destroy the four beasts immediately, he didn't make a single move.

Instead he sneered and said, "Someone is draining the energy spring of the city at the same time that some beasts have decided to attack the city. This can't be a coincidence."

He chuckled as he thought about the possibilities. "Either the two of them are working together, or the beasts have chosen this opportunity to take advantage of the situation. Either way, I will not be fooled."

After chuckling, he said to the epic godclads nearby, "Go and remove the disturbances, and do it quickly."

The epic godclads nodded and moved quickly to execute the order. Four of them at rank 6 left to execute the order. With the help of other epic godclads, they would surely be able to bring down the beasts.

The noble legend watched them go with his eyes narrowed. He might have laughed off the attack, but he was taking it very seriously.

Legends rarely fight because it is very easy for both sides to lose. It is always best if legends negotiate and come to an agreement rather than fight.

The only reason why legends will fight is if there is something to be gained by fighting that cannot be gained by talking. Usually, one of those things is the life of each other.

He knows this and has also realized that the beast attacks are a prelude to a fight between him and another legend. So he has to take the attack seriously.

In a fight between legends, they have to consider a lot of things. They have to consider how far they are willing to go with the fight and how far the enemy is willing to be pressured before they snap.

If one doesn't intend to risk everything, including their life and sanity, to kill a legend, it is best not to put too much pressure on that legend, or they will snap and liberate their divine beast form in order to fight back. This usually leads to a bad ending for both parties involved in the fight.

In order to avoid a lose-lose situation, discretion is key. The fight must end at a point when the enemy legends have been pressured enough. Then the two legends talk, and the advantage in the fight is used to get a better advantage in negotiations.

But if one is aiming to kill the legend at all costs, then increasing the pressure on the legend is the key to victory.

The aim is to slowly and surely tire out the legend and exhaust their spiritual energy so that they will be weak even when they liberate their beast form and be less dangerous. ๐˜ง๐˜ณ๐˜ฆโ„ฏ๐“Œ๐˜ฆ๐’ท๐˜ฏ๐‘œ๐‘ฃ๐˜ฆ๐“.๐’ธ๐˜ฐ๐“‚

Whether it is fighting for more benefits in a negotiation or fighting to kill, the amount of spiritual energy that the enemy possesses is very important. Spiritual energy determines what can be used to resist and how long such a means can be used to resist.

As a seasoned legend, he recognized the beast attack to be a move to force his hand and make him consume spiritual energy. So he decided not to make a move personally.

Instead of allowing whoever the enemy is to slowly cook him, he decided to hang back and watch. Fortunately, he has a lot of cards to play as one of the ancestors of a coalition of noble families.

He glanced at the opaque barrier shield and thought to himself, "I wonder who the enemy is now. Is it the angel of killing or another legend entirely or the undying godclad here that is stealing our energy spring? Or is someone entirely new involved too?"
