Chapter 1 - Checkout, Then Respawn

The last thing I remembered before dying wasn't some heroic sacrifice. It wasn't saving a child from a speeding truck, or protecting a loved one from danger.

No.

It was me, slouched on my futon, my thumb hovering over the "Checkout" button on an online shopping cart that had been growing for weeks.

My name is Tanaka Hiroto, twenty-six, single, an overworked salaryman. My life had two constants: coffee in the morning, and scrolling endlessly through OSA—Online Shopping App, my one escape from the monotony of spreadsheets and overtime.

I had everything in that cart—cheap Bluetooth headphones, a novelty mug shaped like a dragon, even a "replica sword for decorative use only." I always told myself I'd buy them next paycheck.

But just as my thumb brushed the screen, my vision swirled white. My chest tightened. I never even realized I had collapsed until the futon disappeared and everything went black.

When my eyes opened again, I wasn't staring at my cracked ceiling or the blinking router light.

I was staring at a sky so clear and blue it hurt to look at.

"…Huh?"

I sat up, my head spinning. I was on soft grass, surrounded by towering trees that looked straight out of a fantasy RPG. In the distance, mountains rose like jagged teeth, and the sound of rushing water carried on the wind.

Just as I started to panic, a glowing blue window appeared in front of me.

[Welcome, Hiroto. You have been reincarnated in the world of Altheria.][As compensation for your untimely death, you have been granted a unique cheat ability.][Special Privilege: OSA – Online Shopping App.]

"…You've got to be kidding me."

Out of all the cheats—sword master, magic prodigy, dragon tamer—I got… my shopping app?

I hesitated, then willed the app open. The familiar black-and-white interface slid into view, perfectly identical to the one on my phone. Categories were neatly listed: Weapons, Armor, Potions, Food, Miscellaneous. Even the search bar was there.

"…This is insane."

I tapped on Weapons. A list appeared.

Wooden Sword – 100 Gold

Iron Sword (Beginner) – 500 Gold

Steel Sword – 1,200 Gold

[Limited Stock!] Flaming Shortsword – 5,000 Gold

I scrolled down, half-expecting it to glitch, but everything looked normal. Out of curiosity, I opened the cart. Sure enough—there they were: my Bluetooth headphones, the dragon mug, the decorative sword.

And at the top corner of the screen:

Balance: 10,000 Gold (New User Bonus!)

"…Oh crap. This is real."

My heart raced. I could actually buy things. Weapons. Food. Potions. Anything.

I hesitated only a second before clicking Iron Sword (Beginner).

[Purchase Successful. 500 Gold deducted.]

The air shimmered, and with a soft clink, a sheathed sword materialized at my feet. I picked it up with trembling hands. It was solid. Heavy. Real.

I laughed nervously. "This… this is insane. I really got isekai'd with my shopping cart app."

A rustling sound behind me cut my excitement short.

I turned just in time to see a horned rabbit—its red eyes locked onto me, saliva dripping from its sharp fangs.

"Wait, rabbits aren't supposed to look like that—!"

It crouched low, ready to pounce. My body froze, but my hands gripped the hilt of my new sword.

This was it. No tutorial. No gentle introduction. Just me, my shopping app, and a monster about to turn me into lunch.

"Alright…" I swallowed hard, forcing my shaking legs to move. "Let's see if express delivery comes with combat insurance!"

And thus, my second life began—not with a legendary blessing, not with a holy sword from the heavens, but with an app that offered next-day delivery.
