" If I remember correctly, two weeks after working in the hotbath place , they send me here as a volunteer. I already knew that Mira Palmer was staying as a patient.
I knew that it won't be a breezy walk if I tried to meet her. But I never imagined it would be this difficult. Firstly there was no patient named Mira Palmer . There was no recording of even a twenty four years old patient here .
I thought that I had gotten the place wrong but I accidentally saw her in the garden oneday . She matched the picture. After asking around , I heard that she was Sasha , 21 years old patient with mobility disability and deafness and the temper of a dinosaur. Most of the volunteers avoided her , after she had injured a dozens of them , when they tried to clean her room.
Back then , her room was always covered in the curtains . Sasha used to hate sunlight . The only time , her room could be cleaned was when the nurses would forcefully sedate her .
Sasha often would refuse to eat meals until they put tubes in her and then she would try to damage the tubes too as soon as she would get concious. If anyone touched her painting tools , she would stab them or herself. It was so bad that the nursing home had special nurses just for Sasha .
I heard people talking that her family is paying a lot of funds ,and that's the only reason that she was still there .
Her family's only demand is that she should be kept alive ," Jasper took in the confusion in my eyes , " Ask ."
" Mira Palmer is supposed to be twenty five but Sasha is twenty one ?," I raised an eyebrow.
" Sasha used to live at states before with her mother but after the competition to get property started her mother realised that Sasha could not get much inheritance since she was so young , so she lied about her age and forged all documents showing her as someone four years older."
I rolled my eyes .These helicopter parents would do anything to get their children on the first place .
" It was hard for her ," Jasper sighed ," She often talks about it . Suddenly her mother started teaching her subjects that were for the older kids . Sasha had to skip grades but she was not as intelligent as her mother wanted . So her grades were dropping . It did not help that she was having a hard time in the classes that were designed for normal healthy kids. "
"After making her go through everything, now they abondoned her ," I was bitter just by looking at her back .
All that tantrum , anger - maybe they were the way Sasha was begging for attention and love .
" Sasha used to think that her mother will always come back for her ," Jasper said ," After the huge clash happened between Anderson family and Rupert Hunter, the business world started shifting .
Sasha's mother realised that her daughter can not hold a position in such a strong current. Then oneday she came to visit her with another woman.
Apparantly her mother made a deal to get sponsonds and financial backing so she could be the CEO of Summit and Co. The only sacrifice needed was Sasha's identify," he cleared his throat ," Sasha thinks that giving up her identity was the only thing she could do for her mother without disappointing her .
That's why she gladly gave it up , she also thought that it will earn her some sympathy from her parents but over the years , she had come to realise that she was abondoned ."
" Those butchers ," I hissed under my breath ...after spending my life under the shades of a monster like my father ,nothing should surprise me .
My heart ached as I looked at her .
What if Liam was not there with me ? What if I had no supportive sobling like Jasper.
" She used to be much more feisty at first. She would scream and throw things but she just looked scared ," Jasper spoke under his breath ," I know that I came to find her for some purpose but now , I can't really leave her alone ."
Sasha turned back and looked at us . I could see that she was curious .
" Ah , we were just talking about you ?," Jasper said , signing the words ," My sister here knows some people back at our country. Maybe she can take you back ."
For one second her eyes glittered with hope but then they became dull again.
She lifted her index and middle finger and motioned them down .
It certainly did not look like she was excited to go , anymore.
Jasper went to grab her hand again ," Sasha , you deserve to get back your right for your name . I know that you love your mother so much but what she showed is not love. "
Sasha's hand gestures were now agitated like she was frustrated that Jasper could not understand her .
" No , Jasper shook her head. You are scared that she will hate you more but had she ever cared for you?," Jasper signed ," How could she leave you here like this ?"
An animalistic cry came from her mouth . She picked up the canvas and threw it at Jasper . There were no words , just rage - pure rage burning her now .
Jasper had rubbed the salt on her wound .
Now she was showing the door with her hand . The message here was clear -
' LEAVE NOW!'
She could not be louder about that .
Defeated we got out of the room . Jasper closed the door behind him.
" I will stay here and talk to her when she calms down ," he told me ," Sasha is not stupid . She understands her situation."
" It's different thing to understand and accept it ," I said ," I will go back to our hotel for now."
" Will you fly out tomorrow?," he asked .
I realised that he was not coming back with me this time .
" Yeah ," I noded ," Liam had a shooting in the next state, I will see if I can meet him , before going back ."
" Let's walk around the tourist spots before your plane's schedule," he gave me a weak smile ," I wanted to show you so much around here ."
" There's no hurry on that ," I gave him a gentle pat on his back ," We have all the time in the world ."
