Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Capricorne Black

Arthur Black's father, Capricorn Black, was not present in the original story.

It was as if he was a background character who existed specifically because of the protagonist's transmigration into this world.

Capricorn was Regulus Black's twin brother, born two and a half minutes after Regulus.

As the youngest of the three Black brothers, Capricorn was always doted upon by everyone.

Later, at the age of 16, Regulus joined the Death Eaters, initially driven by a desire to uphold Pure-blood supremacy and pursue power.

However, he gradually realized that Lord Voldemort had changed; he was no longer promoting Pure-blood ideology but instead using brutal methods to rule over others.

This applied to Pure-bloods, Half-bloods, and Muggle-born Wizards alike.

It was just that his tolerance for Pure-bloods was higher, and Pure-bloods held a more elevated status under him.

This was not the Pure-blood ideology that Regulus believed in, so he wanted to try and change things.

But failure would inevitably lead to Lord Voldemort's insane retaliation, a consequence he could not bear.

Additionally, Sirius, who at the time stood in opposition to Lord Voldemort, had already been disowned by the House of Black and frequently fought against the Death Eaters, risking his life at any moment.

Regulus feared that the House of Black would end with him, so he sent Capricorn to Europe to marry into a somewhat declining Pure-blood family there.

Europe had a large number of Gellert Grindelwald's remaining forces, and Lord Voldemort's reach did not extend to Europe.

This way, Capricorn might suffer some grievances, but at least his life would be safe.

Regulus found an excuse at a family gathering; at that time, Britain was already under Lord Voldemort's control, and he wanted to send Capricorn to Europe first to provide some support for a future invasion of Europe.

Lord Voldemort was at his peak during that period; even Dumbledore could only remain at Hogwarts, and within Hogwarts, most of the Slytherins were also Lord Voldemort's admirers.

After some discussion, the members of the House of Black sent Capricorn to Europe, where he married into a Pure-blood family.

Because Capricorn had been pampered since childhood, while he was happy, he had flaws in his strength and character.

After being sternly reprimanded by Regulus, he went to Europe.

He just didn't expect that would be the last time he saw Regulus.

In Europe, he and his spouse had a child, who was Arthur Black.

After that, events unfolded as in the original story.

Regulus resolutely chose to betray Lord Voldemort and died by being dragged into the water by Inferi.

Lord Voldemort, at his peak, was also defeated by a newborn baby.

Capricorn could not believe it when he learned of Regulus's death and Sirius's lifelong imprisonment in Azkaban.

After returning to Britain, he passed away from depression within a few years.

Not long after Capricorn's death, Arthur's mother, who had been sickly since childhood, also passed away.

Thus, Arthur, not surprisingly, became an orphan.

Although Arthur became an orphan, in the matter of developing the House of Black's industries, Arthur, who was not yet ten years old three years prior, did far better than his father, Capricorn.

In Britain, relying on the House of Black's accumulated wealth and the House of Malfoy's assistance, while some industries were still forced to be sold off cheaply, the two main pillar industries of the House of Black remained unaffected.

Herbal medicine and mining have always been the most important economic pillars of the House of Black.

Both of these benefited from the House of Black's ancient and wealthy history.

Ancient merely represented Pure-blood status and did not necessarily mean wealthy.

The key to the House of Black being both ancient and wealthy was land.

The House of Black was, in fact, the largest landowner in the entire British Wizarding world.

With vast amounts of land, the House of Black could cultivate herbal medicines and extract mineral resources from beneath the soil.

After Arthur gained control of the House of Black's industries, he greatly increased investment in herbal cultivation.

He also collaborated with his mother's family to smuggle herbal medicines into Europe.

Both parties were delighted.

Arthur was not happy about the high profits brought by smuggling, but rather the continuous growth of his mother's family.

He was, after all, limited by his age, and other Wizards could easily underestimate him.

Even with the House of Malfoy's help, the House of Black's industries were occasionally harassed by others.

But after Arthur's mother's family grew stronger, Arthur entrusted some of the House of Black's security work to his mother's family.

A group of foreign Wizards engaged in illegal trade serving as security personnel in their spare time provided a much stronger deterrent than the House of Malfoy or the young Arthur alone.

Since then, the number of people causing trouble for the House of Black has significantly decreased.

Lucius Malfoy also began to take Arthur more seriously and initiated some collaborations with him.

Collaboration in the Wizarding world is not just a verbal agreement.

This world has magic oaths.

While typical collaborations do not involve oaths like the Unbreakable Vow, which result in death upon breach.

Any oath, however, will incur a significant price if violated.

It was precisely because the House of Black had previously established oaths with many other families that Arthur, even as the sole legitimate heir of the House of Black, could not have held onto its vast industries.

He would have most likely lost his life as a result.

However, this is a world of magic.

Arthur has now, through cooperation with the House of Malfoy and his mother's family, increased the family's wealth even beyond what it was before he took control.

For this, he even specifically purchased two House-elves.

One is named Lucy and the other Baru, responsible for the House of Black's industries in Britain and Europe, respectively.

As for Kreacher, his talent lies in cooking.

There are differences among House-elves; some are skilled in combat, others in cooking.

Kreacher's talent was in cooking.

Arthur gave Kreacher Chinese recipes, and within just one week, Kreacher could prepare most Chinese dishes.

When Arthur bought Lucy and Baru, Kreacher was very angry.

He was angry with himself, believing that he wasn't working hard enough, which was why Arthur bought two more House-elves.

Arthur was powerless to change the mindset of House-elves.

His greatest effort was getting Kreacher to clean himself daily and wear a clean butler's uniform.

Previously, whenever he opposed something Kreacher said, Kreacher would invariably bang his head against the wall, often leaving himself bloody and bruised.

Arthur used the excuse that doing so would damage the furniture in the house.

After Arthur spoke, Kreacher stopped doing it immediately.

However, what he didn't expect was that Kreacher later found a perfectly sized, shaped, and hard pebble outside.

He would bang his head against the pebble whenever he encountered a problem.

Since then, Arthur gave up on trying to change the House-elves' mindset.

Good intentions don't always lead to good outcomes.

Instead, Arthur directly changed the punishment for House-elves; from then on, whenever Kreacher believed he had done something wrong and needed punishment.

He would go to the basement to chip away at ore, but without using magic.

Those ores were for Arthur's Alchemy practice, and it also served to give Kreacher some physical exercise.

The appearance of House-elves truly did not align with Arthur's aesthetic; they were too thin, like skin stretched over bones.

After three years of hard work in the basement, Kreacher had gained a lot of flesh; while still not very attractive, he looked much better than his previous emaciated state.

At the same time, it also accumulated a large amount of practice materials for Arthur.

Although if Kreacher were allowed to use magic, those materials could be prepared in just one day.
