John returns to my cell a few minutes later. He steps in with a tray in hand. He sits down on my makeshift bed and places the tray between us.
I look down at the tray, sitting on the plate is a melted cheese sandwich.
'Is this your lunch John?' I ask skeptically.
'We're sharing my lunch so eat up' he chuckles.
I don't need any more confirmation. I grab the cheese sandwich and bring it up to my lips, then take a big bite. The cheese melts in my mouth. I can't help but moan in satisfaction.
'You've always liked grilled cheese sandwiches' John chuckles then takes a bite of his own sandwich. I hum in response because my mouth is full. We eat in comfortable silence until we're both finished.
When we're both finished John stands up from my makeshift bed and grabs the tray.
'Be good now, the others will be back at 6'o'clock' John informs me. I nod my head.
John walks out the door. Just before he closes the door I call out to him.
'John' I call. He pops his head around the door.
'Hmm, what's wrong' he asks.
'Nothing I just wanted to say thanks for lunch'
'It's not a problem now start revising, you have exams next week' I hum in response and watch as John closes the cell door.
The door locks then I hear the echo of John's footsteps.
Once he has left I stand from the bench and walk over to the desk and chair.
I sit down on the chair and start revising. I only have maths, English and science exams as they are the core subjects at Well Hole high.
I spend the next few hours revising until we're allowed out.
When John unlocks my door and pulls it open I'm so ready to get out of here. I climb off the bed quickly and walk over.
'Wait outside Mr Tiz's office' John says. I nod and make my way past Curtis. I follow along the corridor with John and Curtis trailing behind me.
When I get to Mr Tiz's office I take a seat outside. Everyone else is here so I sit next to max.
Max grabs my hand as I'm about to sit down then pulls me onto his lap. He wraps his arms around me and kisses my head. I turn to face him then gently kiss his lips. He deepens our kiss, sticking his tongue into my mouth.
'That's enough you two' Dave calls. I pull back and smile shyly up at max. I've missed him.
Mr Tiz steps out of his office and performs a head count. When his finished he speaks to us.
'You will be allowed out in a moment for dinner, go straight to your dorm blocks. We have shifted dinner to 8 o'clock so the other students can unpack which is why you're late out. During dinner your things will be moved for you so please bear with us'
'Come along' Dave calls then opens the heavy doors.
We all pile out of the hallway into the school then John opens the door for us so we can leave the school building. Max steps out first and yanks me out the door behind him.
Once we're outside we walk along the path.
When we get to the Y junction max wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me into his chest, he looks down at me as I look at up. Then we kiss. passionate and gentle. It's perfect.
'Come on Max it's time to go' Curtis shouts from the boys dorm doors. Max glances at Curtis over his shoulder then back at me. He pecks my lips gently then whispers quietly in my ear.
'I think I love you princess' then like magic, in my frozen state he's gone.
I don't know how long i stand there frozen for.
When a hand is placed on my shoulder I jolt out of my shock and whip around, coming face to face with John. He chuckles putting his hands up.
'Easy there tiger'
