"Get up, you moron! I know you're not dead," the second youngest shouted.
The second oldest didn't get up. After some time, the siblings began to believe Joren.
"That's absurd; there's no such thing as death in this world for us great people!"
"He must have only paralyzed him." Weakly did one titter.
Joren stared at them.
'So, this is how it is.'
He had seen a yellow aura around the siblings; it was more like a protective barrier. As you might have guessed, Joren broke the barrier as it shattered into hundreds of pieces.
At first, he thought the siblings might have noticed but it seems they were also unaware of this barrier. Furthermore, they seemed to be panicking, as if this was a new experience.
In the cacophony of voices, the oldest sibling snapped out of his fear and glanced at his dead brother.
The youngest launched the blade at Joren, which he instantly escaped and then struck him.
"Argh, damn you." Cursing, the youngest reeled back and fell on the ground.
The two charged but they also received several fatal blows and died. It was much quicker than Joren had anticipated.
The last one standing from the five siblings was the oldest, who tumbled as he tried cringing back.
"Spare me; I will give you everything I have." His face was pale.
"Information—give me everything you know about this world."
Since Joren was new to the world, the oldest had already guessed it, or else Joren would have known about his place.
Instead of panicking and pleading to be spared, he nodded.
As Joren squatted beside him, the oldest took it for his initiative to attack. Dumb it was; however, he still believed he had a chance against him when Joren's guard was down.
Little did he know Joren had already seen through him. It wasn't hard, given the fact that these creatures were terrible at concealing their real intentions.
With a swift move of his blade, the head of the creature went flying and his body lay flat on the ground.
Disappointed, Joren walked away. But he had his own questions in mind.
Clan… wealth, and power. This world is like a human's world, he had guessed but with supernatural powers or something similar.
Something clicked in Joren's mind: if these creatures came from nearby, there was a possibility that there would be a city or anything similar.
'At least a city is the hope.'
He began on an expedition in search of the city or a populated area with similar creatures as he had faced; however, before leaving, he wore their clothes.
'They are unexpectedly comfortable and snug.'
Instead of continuing to stretch the trench, Joren began to run through the forest. Eventually, reaching an area with fewer trees and bushes.
This was hope.
Not far from him, there was a city.
Joren approached the city and at the entrance was stopped by a guard.
"Your soul badge?" asked the guard in a gruff voice.
The guard gave him a scornful gaze. This gaze wasn't directed at Joren but rather at the identity he had taken.
'These guys think I'm one of those guys.'
They were not friendly at all. What relation did these guys have with those creatures? Not wholly foes but not friendly either.
Joren checked the pockets and found a gold, square badge.
As soon as the guards saw this, their faces hardened. Immediately they moved aside and allowed Joren to enter the city.
As Joren entered, he found the city not so impressive. The typical houses with ridges, made of bricks and stones with mud mixed in. The place was teeming with people.
Monsters, humans, lizards—there were so many of them.
Joren had seen these types of monsters in the movies. But seeing them in real life, they are far different in appearance than he had imagined them.
However, he wasn't disgusted or bewildered. Somehow, it was the first time, and the reaction was plain. No fuss with mouth agape, eyes blinking in disbelief. It wasn't like that at all.
'As if those movies were just practice for this day.'
Joren explored the place, moving from one street to another. People never minded him as if they were accustomed to seeing people like him, or perhaps creatures he had faced.
His exploration of the city came to a brief stop when he entered the valley because he had heard the cry for help.
"Not so fast, villain." Said a female human.
At the end of the valley was a wall; on top of it she sat, smirking. This was a trap.
She pulled out a dagger; it was sharp, and the blade glistened as the light fell on it. The girl tried to be more threatening with the dagger; aside, she wasn't alone. Three more people were watching from the other roof of the houses.
Joren didn't have his sword with him. The thing was, he could now summon his sword at his will, meaning there was no need to carry a burden when you can just make it disappear and make it appear when necessary.
The female human was an 18-year-old girl, while beside her were three other friends of hers.
They all had daggers in hand, and they had a horrid gaze at this newcomer.
"These cloths will be fine; you can take the badge and you—" The girl pointed at her other friend.
"Have the human; we can sell his limbs. Besides, they are immortals; they can regenerate their bodies."
The fourth girl was hesitant.
"Don't you think it's wrong? We might get in trouble. He's from a clan, I heard. If they found us, they—"
The girl shouted back at her friend.
"Don't give me that crap; I'm not afraid of them. Besides, money first." The girl spoke in a casual tone.
To her, the guy before her might be a weak clan member with no worth at all. He was alone and if a clan member is roaming a city all by himself, they must be either worth nothing or weak.
"You damn Clan leaders and world's lord; this is our world so F*** Off." The girl grunted.
Joren watched her speak in silence, knowing well these people are of no worth giving his time. Basically, to him, these people were thieves of this world.
However, he couldn't use his sword since he wasn't in the forest, in a place where things are absolutely going to go wrong.
'So, it's the fist I have to use.'
Joren was annoyed; all he wanted was a peaceful time. I guess life had something different for him.
