Item #: SCP-002
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
Due to the intangible nature of SCP-002, full containment has proven unfeasible. Research efforts are focused on monitoring and cataloging individuals affected by SCP-002 phenomena (hereafter referred to as "Subjects").
Foundation-operated front organizations embedded within global healthcare and educational systems are tasked with identifying recurring reports of "unfamiliar memories," "foreign handwriting," or "residual dream recall" that align with SCP-002 activity.
Subjects confirmed to exhibit SCP-002 symptoms are to be placed under discreet surveillance. Direct interference is restricted unless there is evidence of information leakage or cross-regional anomalies with potential to breach Veil Protocol.
Description:
SCP-002 is a recurring oneiric phenomenon in which two (2) or more human individuals enter a shared dream state and exchange physical perspectives. During these events, Subjects report inhabiting the body of the counterpart individual for a variable duration (typically ranging from several hours to multiple days).
Notable characteristics of SCP-002 include:
Memory Retention: Upon waking, Subjects often recall fragmented sensory data, motor memory, and interpersonal interactions not their own.
Physical Residue: Temporary handwriting, posture changes, and dietary habits of the counterpart may persist in the Subject for up to 72 hours after separation.
Displacement Frequency: Incidents appear sporadic, with some Subjects reporting near-daily exchanges while others experience gaps of months or years.
Geographic Incongruence: Documented cases involve Subjects separated by extreme distances, including cross-continental pairings.
At present, the underlying mechanism of SCP-002 remains unknown. No consistent demographic, geographic, or genetic commonality has been established among affected Subjects.
Addendum 002-A: Interview Excerpt
Interviewer: Dr. ████Subject: SCP-002-A (15-year-old female, residing in rural prefecture, ██-██-████)
Dr. ████: Describe the dreams you've been having.
SCP-002-A: They don't feel like dreams. It's like… I wake up, but I'm not me anymore. Different room, different hands. Sometimes the sun sets the wrong way.
Dr. ████: How do you know it's not imagination?
SCP-002-A: [Pauses.] Because when I come back, my notebook is full of writing I don't remember doing. It's his handwriting. And he says the same thing happens to him.
Addendum 002-B: Incident Report
On ██/██/20██, Subjects SCP-002-A and SCP-002-B (urban male, aged 17) simultaneously reported "incomplete transitions." Both experienced full sensory awareness of an environment undergoing large-scale structural collapse inconsistent with their known residences.
Subjects later claimed this event was chronologically inconsistent with local records, suggesting SCP-002 may not be limited to spatial displacement, but potentially temporal displacement as well.
Investigation is ongoing.
