Meanwhile…
In the center of the camp, Josh and Nolan were fighting off some orcs. Josh swung his sword, slashing his sword at the monster's body. He ripped his skin but was unable to kill him.
'Put forth 2500 value. Bet that I can kill this monster in my next attack.'
He activated his attribute, saying strange words and phrases. He swung at the beasts again, cutting it in half. A grin formed on his mouth as his strength suddenly, increased. Nolan got a boost too as he cut down several goblins with ease. He glanced to the side, seeing Matthew's dead body split in half by an explosion the ground.
He gagged, trying to not puke. Then, he gritted his teeth and moved forward.
'Survive…'
But their hopes of survival would soon be diminished to dust A white robed – bald headed figure slowly approached them. Both enforcers' pupils dilated as the man approached. His lips parted as he said in a mused tone.
"Interesting…you have quite the unique attribute…to be able to increase by betting…"
Nolan stood in front of Josh.
"Let me take of him. I can take him on with my attribute."
Josh nodded and gripped Nolan's shoulder.
'Transfer 25 shares to executive Nolan for thirty minutes.'
His attribute worked and yet again, he spoke strange words. Nolan felt a surge of power flow throughout his entire being. His body – his mind – his soul felt refreshened and boosted. He smirked and activated his attribute. The demons raised a brow, feeling weakened. Then, he glanced at Nolan whose power was off the roof. It smiled – intrigued.
"Very interesting…increasing your own power while decreasing your enemy's…"
Nolan didn't respond to the demon's words and threw a fist at him. The demon dodged calmly and looked behind him. The fist broke the sound barrier easily and the aftershock tore through the forest, knocking down several trees. Nolan's expression turned to utter shock as he realized the extent of the demon's power.
'He's…this powerful?!'
The demon smirked. "You have a good attribute but it has one fatal flaw…"
Nolan landed on the ground, locking eyes with the demon. "And what would that be?"
Instantly, a spear pierced through his heart, blood pouring out of his mouth. He looked down seeing the stone spear and then, turned around to see a long-haired, naked figure. The white-robed demon then, stated with a cold voice.
"What if there's a second enemy…?"
Nolan gritted his teeth as blood continued to pour out of his mouth. Then, as his vision faded to back, he could only focus of Josh who looked at with a horrified face. Nolan's cold body fell to the ground, the scent of blood lighting up the battle field. The naked demon sung his spear and cleaned the blood off with his hands.
"Good job." The other demon said.
"No problem." The naked one replied, disappearing from his sight.
Then, the white-robed demon turned around, locking onto Josh. Josh flinched, frightened by the demon's dark aura. His stomach lurched so violently he almost vomited.
'I need to increase my strength by twentyfold if I want to beat this guy…time to gamble…'
Josh narrowed his eyes as the demon approached. He blitz him, trying to strike in the stomach with his palm. Josh's pupils dilated, shocked by his speed. He rotated his body, trying to roll his attack off.
'Put forth 4000 value that I can survive this…!'
He dodged the attack and suddenly, his strength increase fivefold. He felt s surge of energy probably stronger than Nolan's. He smirked and turned around, seeing the demon in the same position. The demon stood straight and locked eyes with him. Josh tried to move but right then…a sting of pain shot throughout his being.
He gasped and looked towards the part where the pain was coming from. His face turned from pain to horror as he saw that a chunk of his side had been blown off.
'From just touching me…?!'
His jaw dropped as he felt an indescribable fear overcome him. The demon approached and halted near the enforcers. Then, it stabbed Josh through the stomach with a quick jab. Blood burst from Josh's mouth. He fell to the ground, slowly bleeding to his demise. The demon glanced at him again and then…left. He rapidly lost strength as his vision faded to black. The last thing he saw was the battlefield covered in smoke, explosions, monsters and blood. Mercy was far from this place.
***
The well-dressed demon, flew above the chaos of the massacre. He was bored – utterly so. He adjusted his coat and sighed.
'Every damn time thee humans come to explore the continent and we have to clean them up…why can't they contain their curiosity…? They keep sending more people only for us to kill them…it's become routine at this point…'
Then, he landed on the ground. The goblins and orcs rushed past him and began attacking Nyx. Nyx was easily defeating them all while protecting the super-laptop. The noble demon clicked his tongue while seeing her power.
'Is she weakened? Because this doesn't seem like power on par with an eminence…'
He looked away, trying to find prey. Right then, he found three enforcers – Major, Jasper and Frank, heavily wounded while fighting off goblins. The demon smirked and strolled towards them. Major noticed him first, informing his teammates.
"A demon's coming."
Frank and Jasper instantly got into battle position. The demon raised his hand and the trio flinched. Instantly, a small barrier covered them.
'What is he trying to be…?' Major frowned.
Right then, the demon disappeared from sight. Major gritted his teeth, his heart beating rapidly as he looked around for the demon. The noble appeared again with Jasper and Frank beside. He put his hands on their shoulder. Major raised a brow as he noticed their faces were filled with horror.
"M-Major…?" Jasper pointed his hand.
Major lowered his head and froze. His entire arm was on the ground, blood pouring out of what was left. He fell to the ground his shock – an indescribable fear took hold of him. The demon chuckled and told Jasper in a sadistic voice.
"Kill him. If you want to live that is…"
Time froze for a moment. Jasper processed what the demon told him then, locked eyes with his captain. Major was also in utter shock, looking at him with a face of fear. The silence stretched for long, one was waiting for the other to say something. Jasper clenched his katana, choking on his words.
"I-I won't kill him…"
The demon sighed. "Very well…."
As tears streamed down Jasper's face, the demon placed his palm on his head. Then, he began pulling, making sure Jasper felt every bit of pain. Jasper screamed in pain as his head was ripped off with his spine. Frank and Major's brain looked on in utter and undeniable shock as blood burst from jasper's body. The demon threw Jasper's head coldly as his body fell to the ground.
"Your turn." He put his arm of frank and whistled.
Seeing what had happened to Jasper, Frank locked eyes with his captain. Major locked with Frank, eyes wide – tears forming. Tears poured down his face as he said in a hollow voice.
"I'm sorry…"
Major shook his head. "No…"
Frank approached, slowly as Major continued to protest. He pushed himself back with his legs, waving at Frank to stop.
"Frank! Don't do this! Please, I want to live!"
"So, do I…" Frank whispered.
He stabbed his very own captain in the heart. Major looked at Frank — not with anger, but with shock. Then the light left his eyes. His body fell slowly, like it didn't want to leave. His heart stopped, organs halted and finally…death. Frank stared at Major's body — the man who led him — now gone. His hands shook so violently he almost dropped his sword.
"Good job." The noble clapped.
Frank smiled with regret. "Can I…live?"
"No – of course, not." The demon neared him.
"What?" Frank asked, confused.
But before he could speak another word, a sense of dread overwhelmed him his vision He saw his life flash before his eyes - he saw his Team, smiling happily amongst themselves. Frank's cold, headless body fell to the ground as the demon threw his head away. It dusted off it's bloody hands and looked at his victims with a disgusted expression.
"I didn't like this one…"
