Nevaeh didn't pay much attention to Cassius's attitude.
To both of them, they were strangers.
She imagined what it would be like if she were the one lying in bed, waking up to suddenly find out she was married.
It would be hard to accept.
With her head down, she sat on the sofa, thinking about the return visit in three days.
Hussein noticed her expression and, assuming she was upset, quickly reassured her, "Don't worry, ma'am. The young master isn't a bad person; he just has a cold temperament. It's not really his fault… In time, you'll understand."
Nevaeh wasn't worried at all.
She didn't care what kind of person Cassius was; her only concern was her grandmother's situation.
Understanding that Hussein meant well, she nodded, "I know. I won't mind."
Hussein felt relieved and continued, "The old master really likes you. If it weren't for you, the young master wouldn't have woken up. You're a benefactor to the Bennett family, ma'am. We will all support you. I believe the young master will soon see your worth and truly accept you."
Nevaeh smiled faintly, not bothering to argue.
She had saved Cassius, but she didn't want any recognition for it, nor did she wish to be seen as a benefactor.
She did it simply out of her instinct as a healer.
In Cassius's room, the old man's expression turned cold.
"What did you just say?" The old man was furious.
"You can't forget your gratitude. Nevaeh saved you, and you two are already married. She is your wife."
"If superstition could save people, why would we need doctors?" Cassius insisted firmly. "I'm going to get a divorce!"
"You dare!" The old man was seething with anger. "Unless I'm dead, you will not get a divorce."
"Grandpa, I've listened to you my whole life, but I can't on this matter." Cassius's voice was clear, yet it carried an undeniable decisiveness.
"Are you trying to give me a heart attack?" The old man was infuriated.
Although Cassius had always been stubborn, he had never openly defied him like this before. This level of insistence was a first.
The old man knew exactly what the issue was.
"Are you still thinking about that girl named Naya? You wasted three years searching for her. The Bennett family will never accept her, so just give up on that idea."
"Grandpa, my Mrs. Bennett can only be her. If it's not her, I'd rather not marry at all!" Cassius raised his voice sharply, leaving no room for argument.
"You!" The old man stormed out in anger.
As he reached the door, he encountered Nevaeh, and his expression softened slightly.
"Nevaeh, go on in. No matter what that brat says, don't take it to heart. Grandpa will always stand by you."
Nevaeh forced a smile. "Don't worry, Grandpa. I won't let it bother me."
She only needed to maintain a fake marriage with him for three days.
Once she got the information from her grandmother after returning home, she would leave.
What he said wouldn't matter to her at all.
"Good girl, I'm sorry for putting you in this position. Here, take this as a little something from me," the old man said, handing her a card.
Nevaeh quickly shook her head. "No, I can't accept this."
She felt embarrassed to take gifts like a card or a bracelet for just being a stand-in for three days.
"Take it! When you have children in the future, this whole family will be yours." The old man insisted, shoving the card into Nevaeh's pocket before turning to leave.
Nevaeh looked at the card in her hand, feeling a bit helpless.
Well, since Grandpa was so determined to give it to her, she could just pack the bracelet and the card together on the day she left and quietly place them in his room.
With that thought in mind, Nevaeh felt a lot less pressure and pushed the door open to step inside.
However, as soon as she stepped into the room, she felt an intense drop in pressure, as if the air itself had been frozen, creating an eerily chilling atmosphere.
Nevaeh looked up and saw Cassius sitting up in bed, leaning against the headboard.
His face seemed calm, but his eyes were sharp and cold, like poison. Just looking at him gave her chills.
His eyes landed on her face, then slowly drifted down to the black card in her hand.
The look on his face changed instantly.
Realizing what he was looking at, Nevaeh quickly said, "This card isn't mine. It belongs to grandfather…"
Before she could finish, Cassius cut her off coldly, "Is that your goal?"
That black card had at least one hundred million on it. She was already asking his grandfather for money?
This woman was really shameless.
No wonder she agreed to a marriage like this, it was all for the money.
Nevaeh's heart sank. He misunderstood.
She had planned to return the card to his grandfather later, but now that he said that, she might as well give it to him directly.
She stepped forward, placed the card on the bedside table, and said calmly, "Here. It's yours."
"Playing hard to get now?" Cassius's tone turned freezing. "A woman I don't want to marry will regret ever being born."
Nevaeh clutched the hem of her shirt, suddenly feeling uneasy.
She didn't expect Cassius to wake up and be this furious. His cold stare was so intense that she couldn't look him in the eyes.
He was a powerful figure in the business world, and she was just an ordinary girl. They were from completely different worlds.
Avoiding his stare, Nevaeh said, "Grandfather was the one who asked me to help with all this. As for these things, I didn't ask for them."
She paused for a second before continuing, "They were gifts from him. I didn't want to hurt his feelings, so I planned to return them later."
"Stop using grandfather as an excuse," Cassius snapped, throwing a document at her. "Sign it."
Nevaeh picked it up and was stunned. "You want a divorce right now?"
"I don't want to see you for another minute," Cassius said coldly.
As soon as he woke up and found out he was married, he'd ordered his assistant to get the divorce papers ready.
He didn't care if his grandfather was against it, he wasn't going to give in. That title, Mrs. Bennett, could only belong to her.
No one else deserved it.
Nevaeh stared at the big bold letters on the divorce agreement but didn't sign it. Instead, she looked up at Cassius.
"I can't sign it right now."
She needed time.
She had to keep pretending like this marriage was real so that Maria Thompson would be willing to share her grandmother's whereabouts with her.
"You want money?" Cassius asked, his voice low and cold.
His handsome face looked even darker now. "Besides my grandfather's card, I can give you another hundred million."
Even though two hundred million was a lot, this wasn't about money.
"I can't sign it," Nevaeh said again. "Let's wait a few more days until you feel better, then we'll talk about it."
She couldn't say she'd sign after she saw her grandmother, so she just made up an excuse.
"A delay tactic?" Cassius's eyes narrowed.
The cold, dangerous vibe around him got stronger, like he was a king looking down on her. "Fine. I'll have someone make you sign."
"Frank."
Cassius called out, and a good-looking guy wearing black-rimmed glasses stepped forward.
He walked over to Nevaeh and gave a polite bow. "Ms. Nevaeh, I'm sorry."
Then he clapped his hands.
Two tall, muscular men stepped out from behind him and walked straight toward Nevaeh.
Instinctively, she stepped back. "Cassius Bennett!"
But Cassius ignored her. His voice was firm and heavy. "Hold her down. Make her sign."
Nevaeh panicked as the two men grabbed her. She was so mad, her whole body trembled.
"Cassius Bennett, let me go! You can't do this! I saved your life!"
