Chapter 46 - Suppressants

Something was wrong.

The penthouse was freezing; the air conditioning blasted a dry wind that scraped his bare skin.

He blinked at the ceiling. Underneath the cold, something else was saturating the air. It was Noah's scent.

But this time, it smelled sour and burnt. And Levi could tell it was a scent of distress.

He sat up, the sheets sliding off his chest. The cold bit deeper, but the scent pulled at him harder.

He rolled out of bed and onto the marble floor, following the scent.

When he got to the study, he flung the door open but found the alpha on the floor with his back against the wall. One arm was flung out, and the other was curled over his stomach.

His chest rose and fell in shallow and uneven hitches. His shirt was damp with sweat that almost made it transparent.

Levi crouched beside him. He could feel the heat radiating off the alpha's body despite the freezing room.
