The four-room cottage was finally completed. Beds and dressers had been installed in each room, plain but sturdy. A fireplace kept the cottage warm and the smoke vented through a new stone chimney.
The dining space had a square table with stools. A small kitchen was placed at the back for cooking simple meals and boiling tea. At the back, a separate privy and bath had been built, not luxurious but far better than what most travelers found on the road.
There was a deep well for drinking and cooking. It was fitted with a grated cover and warded. Near completion, is the spring-fed cistern and rainwater catchment for washing, bathing, and cleaning.
In a letter sent ahead, Eira had been told that the cottage was ready. She would share it with Marla, Mira, and Therese. The rooms were small, but each had its own private space.
