Letter from Shannon to Eira
Dear Eira,
Much has changed since the evening of the violin recital. What once seemed a quiet season has become a storm of duties, rumors, and roadwork.
I write to you now because the safehouse, which has served as your shelter, will soon no longer be ours. The High Crown has imposed heavier taxes upon holdings, and to keep our new ventures steady, we must sell the property. The sale will go through before the month ends.
It leaves me with a duty to you, Eira. I cannot leave you stranded. You have choices, each with its own weight. I trust you will consider them carefully:
You may transfer to Chordlight Cottage. You could continue your healing there. It is peaceful land, though Marla may soon be called to the waystation kitchens. If she goes, we will need someone steady to tend to the cottage's daily rhythm.
