Chapter 16: Interlude III: Prelude before the Finale (Finishing Up)

The two of them, along with Hana, represented one of what Bam believed to be the most important trait of all, the hope that could endure even in centuries of melancholic life, the hope that shone through and allowed even the oldest and most hardened of people to seek and succeed in finding the light that they needed to move forward and find happiness after centuries.

And, well... Bam had long since realized being a beacon of hope was what he specialized very much in. More than being the top contender for the strongest human in the Tower, the fact that he could embody the light and hope in others was proof that he might earn a happy ending after all.

After 3 months of further training, Enryu asked Urek and Bam to engage in a serious spar for an hour. Urek was quite willing to agree, stating he had hoped to be able to fight with Bam once he was strong enough. Bam agreed, as he knew he had to beat Urek if he was going to be able to beat Jahad.

The result was satisfying enough too as Bam was able to drive Urek back and clearly had the edge over the Wolhaiksong Vice-Captain at the end of their fight. Urek's aggressive, fast-paced combat style was countered by Bam's fighting style at it's truest glory, that which emphasized immense power wielded with great versatility and fluidity. Urek would be better when it came to physical combat, but Bam exceeded him when it came to shinsu control and accuracy, along with being somewhat more used, at certain points even straight-up more proficient, at switching and using various kinds of fighting skills to compliment his overall efficiency.

Bam got pushed back by Urek's hand-to-hand prowess after defending himself for 10 minutes against Urek's incredulously swift and strong onslaught of hand-to-hand attacks and managing to avoid taking any hits as he focused mostly on defense and even managed to take a few opportunities to launch a few attacks that were easily parried by Urek, seeing it as a good practice of his defensive skills, before he then drew the Bright Moon and tried to fight Urek with just a single blade.

Much to Bam and Urek's impression, they prove fairly matched as Bam was able to land a couple of strikes against Urek and force him on the defensive some times, but Urek also managed to land a few blows that hurt even more than Yurin, actually making him bleed by the mouth a bit, and he eventually started to take the upper hand as he was able to block Bam's sword by coating his hands with shinsu strong enough that even Bam infusing shinsu into the blade could only cut it a little bit.

They both moved so fast they couldn't even be seen in the slightest by those on Jinsung's level, and the impact of their clashes unleashed huge booms that resonated through the field they were using and leaving behind craters just through blocking or launching themselves forward.

After another 10 minutes, Bam drew his bow and began to fire both arrows and spears, launching 100 per 2 seconds all while he also rained down needles and swords at Urek. Urek started out being able to easily block and dodge most of the barrage of projectiles, and he even responded by casually forming a bow of his own and aiming both types of Spear Bearer with decent skill, stating they could take this as much of a serious exercise as it was meant to be "fun".

With Urek's terrifying speed, agility, and completely mastered relentless precision, it was actually a bit hard for Bam to remain unscathed, as Urek was able to casually weave through most of the projectiles and even managed to throw his own assaults, forcing Bam at certain occasions to defend. He was actually even slightly better than Lady Yurin in terms of accuracy, and Bam had only grown slightly stronger since his previous victory over Hon, which was partially why Enryu had him really take on Urek, to ignite a spark to help him grow more steadily as he was reaching the truest extent of his full potential.

Still, being trained as a Spear Bearer by Enryu eventually allowed Bam to land just a single spear at Urek, and he didn't stop there as he programmed the spear to just briefly paralyze Urek before teleporting near him and unleashing the ultimate evolution of his Zero Piercing Technique, ranking fourth amongst his Piercing Techniques, Twenty-Fifth Bam Style Lethal Move: Zero - Abyss of Genesis, performing the "state of Zero" and using Bam's black shinsu, which had abyssal-like qualities, to compliment it's effects to the max.

The attack tore through the entire mountain of the replicated field of the 77th Floor as Urek was thrown back quite harshly, but Urek only took a few injuries as he chuckled and gave Bam the thumbs up, stating to be honest, he had been looking forward to the idea of fighting Bam seriously as an equal. Bam acknowledged Urek's desire with a sincere bow and stating he hoped this fight would be satisfying for Urek, and it would pay back all the help Urek gave him. Urek merely waved his hand, telling him he wasn't sore about losing Garam to Bam and he saw Bam as a little brother he never had.

With 10 minutes left, Urek then proceeded to telekinetically compress dozens of stones into debris with tons of shinsu before throwing them at speeds beyond even the usual light-speed shinsu attacks he was known for using, but Bam was ready for this now. He precisely called upon the power of Red Thryssa and gave each finger of his arm red claws, performing Full Transformation with complete accuracy and mastery as he casually sliced at each rock before they could even come fifty foot of a radius of him.

When Urek jumped in to unleash the Supreme King's Scorching Fist of Death, Bam calmly manifested the strongest of his Blue Thryssa Transformation, Adamantium's Shield of Poseidon, a massive blue hand-held barrier that blocked Urek's attack and only pushed Bam back a few feet. It was one of his strongest defensive moves that tanked even attacks used by the Family Heads.

Of course, with Urek's level of power, the shield was still shattered, but the barrier had nulified any damage, leaving Bam unharmed aside from a few burns and he quickly returned with a focused baang of Shinwonryu that forced Urek back and even dealt a few scratches on his chest.

Bam gave a small, respectful bow towards Urek, who grinned as he bowed back. Without any further ado, Bam fired thousands upon thousands of baangs at Urek with the speed of light, able to massacre entire 10 Great Families without their Family Leaders using just those baangs without any techniques. Urek had no trouble defending himself from such an onslaught, of course, as he manifested a white Dansul barrier that was able to protect him completely all while he charged at Bam, closing in the distance within 30 seconds.

Bam responded by creating 12 Shinsu Loops simultaneously and unleashed Twenty-Fifth Bam Style Shinsu Loop Lethal Move: Piercing Ocean Pillars, dropping large columns of water that managed to finally overcome Urek's shield, but Urek merely dodged the coming columns using the pillar's slowing speed and reduced velocity to his advantage, casually dispersing the shield as it began to be cracked with the exceptional quick-thinking that one could expect from the second greatest fast-paced combatant in the entire Tower.

However, Bam pushed Urek back using a particularly powerful technique of the Shinsu Loop, combining wind with the pure water shinsu inside, one of the techniques he developed with Gustang's help. Transcendental Technique: Sickle of Reaping unleashed a huge water-wind sickle that both forced Urek back and also cut his arm, leaving a noticeable slash wound.

With 20 minutes left before the simulation ended, Bam started seamlessly shifting between close to mid range combat, finally showing some relavity over Urek.

He started by warping near Urek and using dual-knives to attack him. While Urek expertly parried Bam's attacks, even laughingly commenting on Bam choosing such a way to warm up, Bam managed to actually scratch him quite a bit in the cheek with a well-placed kick to throw the knife through Urek's hand and straight through his cheek using a decent amount of shinsu boost before Urek kicked him in the jaw hard enough to knock a teeth out of him.

It was the first time Bam ever lost a teeth, to be honest, and Urek immediately scratched his head as he apologized to Bam, but Bam decided he didn't care. Losing a teeth was nothing compared to what would happen if he lost a fight with Jahad, and he wanted to get more serious. With that in mind, when Urek launched thousands of high-powered baangs, Bam conjured a Shinwonryu Orb that not only blocked Urek's baangs, but sucked all the shinsu of the attack into the Orb.

Bam didn't waste any time as he created 5 cyclones of pure Shinwonryu homing on Urek, with Urek also getting serious as he unleashed his own Shinwonryu in the form of consecutive massive beams at the cyclones, but the cyclones almost reached Urek until it exploded.

Bam next made use of the Opera Repellista had recently given him, stating she was giving him her treasure as proof of how much she wanted him to win the fight with Jahad. She didn't need it anymore, anyway, as Gustang and Masceth had been able to make just another replica of the Opera, and Repellista preferred having just one than taking any chances.

It was honestly his first time using it seriously, since Repellista had given him the Opera only shortly after she got to have her second time with him, even teasing that she did it to reward him for being such a "good fuck" before she got serious and admitted the real reasons. Anyway, Bam had practiced with it, trying to emulate some of Tperie's skills, and he supposed he managed to get a decent grip on it.

Bam performed the Magnus Core he developed on the Opera: Tperie didn't create the technique, but he was such a good Light Bearer that every skill he used could rival some of Bam's best outputs with his self-created technique. Bam gathered intense amounts of shinsu into performing the reversal of Lighthouse Reverse Flow Control into Flow Control, unleashing massive bolts of shinsu that Urek blocked without much effort, but he grinned as he told Bam to give it his all for the rest of the 7 minutes they had.

Bam made several Lighthouse Compressions that Urek pierced through with his reinforced fists easily, even as Bam sent 10 spears at Urek's way that Urek crushed into dust using shinsu telekinesis. He tested how long he could trap Urek with the Opera, and at least he managed to hold him for a decent 55 seconds, but it was still an imperfect form as Urek could still use shinsu through his eyes to throw the baangs Bam fired at him straight back at Bam and even stopped the spears with what shinsu he could muster from his hands.

Bam was successful in reflecting Urek's shinsu attacks back with greater power, though, and the fortresses Bam could create using the Opera made Urek actually exert a bit of effort in defending himself against the onslaught of shinsu lasers, baangs, and streams. Still, Bam knew he had to take this chance, and so Bam drew both the Bright Moon and the Thorn-shaped Lance of the Mystic, which made Urek smile as he realized Bam was worthy of "it". Imagine Bam's surprise when he calmly manifested what Bam recognized to be an axe from some of Gustang's teachings about the Outside.

For the rest of 15 minutes, Bam, using both a sword and a shield, was admittedly pushed back as he had to admit he now realized exactly why, despite seemingly not being good with weapons of the Fisherman, he was still considered the second strongest Fisherman of them all under only Jahad himself. Urek's physical prowess even exceeded that of Lady Yurin, his fighting style was just as brutal as he was exceedingly good at fighting with his fists and legs, and there was the axe that Urek manifested, but kept a secret and only unveiled when training or fighting against Hon and now Bam.

Urek swung that battle axe he made of pure shinsu with nothing but the utmost of precision and grace to back up his overwhelming brutish strength. His technique was nothing simplistic as he relied on skillful feints that mixed defense and offense simultaneously, luring Bam into attacking him and then almost disarming him at one point to land the axe on Bam's shoulder, and manipulated the handle dexterously to successfully, or almost, strike Bam even when he missed. He also used the junction of the axe head and the shaft as a surprisingly efficient Hook that penetrated Bam's shield at times and struck him.

It was an entirely unique form of combat that Bam had never experienced before. Still, he had no plans to surrender, and used all the years of relentless fighting, intensive training, and the experience that came with it to fight back. He was backed into a corner due to how the axe also complimented Urek's physical strength more, making it a truly fitting weapon for someone like him, but it was Bam's mastery of both his strengths and weaknesses that won this round.

Realizing he couldn't physically compete with Urek, Bam shifted from fighting him up-close to launching baangs and shinsu attacks on the axe, slowly but surely wearing it down. Since the Tower didn't have an actual axe, Urek could only fight with one using shinsu to shape the weapon he was best with.

Of course, Urek's shinsu was so strong Bam's initial attacks showed no signs of affecting it until 3 minutes, tanking 2000 baangs and even deflecting more than half of it back at him with Urek expertly swinging his axe with such force, blocking a few bursts of his Floral Butterly Piercing Technique and Zero. It was even sturdier than the shinsu weapons created by Edahn and Hon, and it was only when Bam hit it with a fully-charged Shinwonryu where it finally started to fizzle out.

Seeing the opportunity, Bam charged forward at Urek, focusing all his strength and flowing intense amounts of Shinwonryu into the Bright Moon, clashing with Urek one last time. Urek almost overpowered Bam with his superior strength, but then his weapon gave out as Bam managed to cut through it and slice Urek's chest quite deeply before holding his blade on Urek's throat. While they didn't get to go all-out, it was obvious Bam won.

And the spar ended as Urek gracefully admitted Bam had surpassed him and could now reliably be able to fight and beat Jahad/Enryu in the near future. He even had Wolhaiksong's resources spread records of the fight, with Repellista eagerly helping out, to the whole Tower. Bam's Ranking continued to rise as he beat/killed Family Head after Family Head, and now he was at Rank 3, pushing Urek back to the fourth spot after he previously occupied the third due to Jahad and Enryu tying with each other after the fight on the Floor of Death.

Shockwaves of his victory made him congratulated by all of his friends and lovers, all of them holding a feast to celebrate Bam truly now at the top and close to finally ending everything. Bam thanked everyone for their support of him, promising to live up to all their expectations and hopes, and they celebrated more than ever.

It was a good night that had Aguero and Albeda pretty much recounting the memory Bam provided to allow them to see how the fight between him, Edahn, and Hon went, praising every good performance Bam showed while defeating them and giving a few toasts to the fact that Bam won and helped change things in their Families for the better. Aguero even pulled out what he described as half of the wine collection in the Khun Family to celebrate, and he seemed happier and more optimistic than ever, Bam had to admit.

Garam, in particular, congratulated Bam for "finally socking that foolish perverted ass", making up a few poems praising Bam for being a magnificent man, mocking Urek by drinking in honor of Bam winning over him, and as she got drunker, even started to tease him about how Bam was even more of a man than he ever was, much to Urek's comedic shame and chagrin.

Enne had to reign her in when she started wondering if she should show Urek the memory of Bam giving her a better time than anything Urek could ever hope, as Bam was sure she could easily show the intimate times with how she hinted it. While Enne had nothing against Urek, Tiara was nowhere near as nice, however. She was admittedly in a bad mood since Enne didn't include her when Bam hooked up with Blossom alongside Enne and Garam, and Urek's relationship with Gustang was among the most turbulent ones.

As such, Tiara decided to get some payback by giving quite the vivid description of her and Enne's time with Bam to Urek, much to Enne's embarassment and Urek's slight dismay. She also took the liberty to reveal certain details about Blossom and Gustang's relationship that actually managed to tick Blossom off! Gustang, who had attended the party, if only for Enne and Tiara, admitted it was true to get under Blossom's skin. Needless to say, the details covered Blossom's behavior in bed around him, and he made sure to describe it as though Blossom was still a kid. Blossom almost started a fight with him over that, the shinsu thickening enough to make even Enne wary around them.

Needless to say, Bam had to step in to stop Gustang and Blossom from coming to blows. They still could quickly get angry and start arguing with each other, even with Bam now Blossom's lover. Enne, on the other hand, had to promise Tiara she would make it up by including her when the "honeymoon" came, along with Blossom and Irure, before she would relent.

Yuri at least tried to soften things up with Urek by telling him he put up a good show and there were other girls who might just like him, giving the idea of him going back and finding girls to hang around with until he met his match, which Urek thanked her for. Baek Ryun just gave him brotherly pats, though that didn't stop him from still admitting Urek had it coming after all the hard stuff he put Garam through.

Miseng, ever the sweet "little sister" of the group, tried to cheer him up by giving him a book she bought about how to work out a relationship. Yihwa made a few fireflies as decorations for the celebration, even performing a few shows that had Hana cheering at her, while Aria somehow got in the mood to sing a few decent songs that praised Bam in various ways which left him blushing.

Wangnan and Shibisu also shared a few sympathetic drinks with Urek as they could empathize with the fact that they were all still single, although Endorsi and Anaak used that to tease them further by stating they really needed to work on their "manly charm", much to their dismay. Bam could only laugh a bit anxiously, especially as Aguero proceeded to toast to Bam for being the only men in the group to have romantic relationships.

Oh well, Urek was still in a good mood by the end of it, and so was all his friends. The girls drank enough wine that they started to provoke him into getting on the bed, some of them even stripping and trying to seduce him! Yurin and Blossom, however, showcased their most mature side, gently dragged them off him and told Bam to rest, as he had earned it, although they also made it a point to tease him that he was going to be in quite the night when Jahad was defeated, causing Bam to feel shivers all over his body. Hana, who had only gave a shaky laugh as she didn't help stop the girls, surprisingly stepped in as she gleefully promised the same, only making Bam tremble more.

And so Bam slept with more confidence and hope than before that he could do this. He could win. The love and support of those who he cherished and who cherished him in return drove him further into the final fight with Jahad.

Anyway, I'll just say that the thing here in this fic with Bam is that what really wins him the jackpots of Hana and now those two is that he's a nice, thoughtful, and considerate person who doesn't boast about the fact he is so charming, is firm with anyone he is in a relationship with but doesn't ask for anything except for them to respect his boundaries and support him when he needed them, and does everything he could to make them happy.

By the way, just because I didn't show Bam using Transformation, doesn't mean I have forgotten he HAS that power. If any of you think I should implement it more on the previous chapters, then I can update it a bit if that's what you want!

Urek fighting with an axe, ha ha. I just thought it would be cool, like Kratos from God of War with Leviathan. So Bam now has beaten both Yurin AND Urek, although it was more in a spar than an actual duel, but the point is, Bam IS ready to fight Jahad now.
