I wake up groggily, the light above me is blinding so I cover my eyes for a moment so my eyes can adjust to my surroundings.
When I pull my hand away I can see I'm in medical. John must have moved me while I was asleep, I remember falling asleep on the sofa, snuggled into John after the shit show I performed in front of most of the security officers.
The security officer sitting at the nurse's desk is watching me closely, like a hawk, His already noticed I'm awake. I try to ignore his staring by watching the clock tick by. When the clock hits 6 the nurse strolls in.
I watch as she talks with the officer then goes and puts her stuff away. When she comes back in she walks straight over to me, she smiles softly
'Good morning hope, how are you feeling?' She asks, I nod my head so she smiles at me again.
'I'm glad you're feeling better, I'm going to call Mr Tiz now, he wants to speak with you'. I force a smile at her before she walks over to her desk.
I watch the nurse pick up the phone, she starts talking quietly before she puts the phone down.
It's not long before I hear Mr Tiz walking down the hallway, His footsteps echoing.
Mr Tiz steps through the doorway then walks straight over to me. He smiles reassuringly
'Hope I hear your feeling better in yourself' he says smiling, I nod my head in response.
'Come along then, I believe we need a little chat' he says so I climb out of the bed, he starts walking so I follow behind him quietly.
When we get to his office he takes a seat and gestures for me to do the same. I do.
'John will be here momentarily, but for now we can start' he says. 'Okay' I murmur back, not really wanting this 'talk' but I'm here now and it's not like I get a choice in the matter.
'Great, well id like to apologise on behalf of myself and the school for the last few weeks, we have failed to care for you properly'.
There's a knock at the door so Mr Tiz stops talking to me. 'Come in' he calls. John steps in and shuts the door behind him, taking the seat beside me. I shoot a small smile at him.
'Morning John, uh, thanks for yesterday' I say quietly looking down at my hands.
'I'm sorry you got to the point you did yesterday Hope, it was heartbreaking seeing you have a meltdown like that' John says before he chuckles to himself before saying
'I remember your first one at the station' he points to his nose and says 'it's never sat right since, you've always had a hard punch' I can't help but chuckle along, i remember that day like it was yesterday, that was the first and the last time I've ever hit John.
Mr Tiz clears his throat before saying
'As I was saying before, we have failed you so far, now though, I'll be amending your care, for starters John will be in your dorm block in the mornings and evenings as he is now in charge of the station, he doesn't need to be there so often, his planning to leave the force in the near future so he will only be called in for emergencies'
'john will also be close by during school hours, if you kick off there's a care plan we follow, last of all I will be in the hall in the mornings to give you your medication' I'm shocked they've come up with this in less than 24 hours, 'thank you sir' I mumble quietly.
Mr Tiz now stands up, so does John so I stand up too.
Mr Tiz leads us out then takes us to the girls dorm block. He swipes his fob then yanks the door open, holding it while we step through.
'John can you take hope up to her room' Mr Tiz asks. John nods curtly then takes me up to my dorm room. He uses his fob to unlock my door then I step in, he leaves me in my room, shutting and locking the door behind him.
April is still asleep. Her alarm is going off so I can tell she's currently sleeping through it.
I walk over to April and shake her. Personally I've never seen anyone jump out of bed as quick as April does right now, Her body reacts before her mind though as she tries to throw a punch but misses me.Thankfully.
I knock her arm out of the way and grab onto her shoulders and shake her body more forcefully.
'It's me April, wake up you fool' April blinks a few times, realising it's me.
'Where the hell have you been? I know you went to secure but Mr Tiz said you were only there for two days! Why didn't you come back! I was so worried' she's ranting while climbing out of her bed. She sounds like my mum! It's freaky.
'Not far, I spent two days in medical then I was allowed out yesterday but max happened in my first class' I inform her reassuringly. April now places her hands firmly on her hips, screaming
'That lockdown was because of you! What the hell! And what's max got to do with any of this?' I shrug my shoulders finding the words to explain,
'In a way it was my fault but it wasn't because I kicked off, max stood up to Mr Pierce as he was manhandling me, he attacked him, then he took off with me to the roof, we were up there for ages until we were found' I hurriedly tell her then add
'We ran and jumped off, falling to the gym roof. Then we played hide and seek with Mr Tiz and most of the security officers, we ran, we had a chase through the school, which caused the lockdown, then I kicked off, it wasn't intentional though' I explain quickly, speaking a mile a minute. April sits down in what I assume is shock.
She's silent for a while then she says hesitantly
'Wow' she falls back on her bed then asks
'How wasn't it intentional though, we were in a lockdown, because of you two! We've never had one before until yesterday' I nod my head guiltily
'I have ADHD April, it really wasn't intentional, the school hadn't given me my meds since I got here, I've been wild and unpredictable, I totally understand if you don't want to be friends with me now' I say quietly looking down at the floor.
April lays on her bed quietly and doesn't answer so I grab my things and get in the shower. I was hoping she would understand but no answer is an answer in itself.
