Chapter 62
"Broooo!"
A soft, high-pitched voice spilled out from the phone Kairen lifted to his face level — half excited, half screaming, half surprised.
He was on a video call with his sister, and there was no way he could contain the joy brimming in him alone. He had to share it — had to let someone see what he saw, feel what he felt. And the people he called were the only ones that ever made him feel grounded: his sister and his mother.
His mom was resting on the hospital bed, looking fragile but cheerful, while his sister held the phone steady, both of them sharing the same screen — one heart split into two faces.
Kairen lifted a shopping bag into view, and immediately that earned him a gasp of disbelief from his sister. "Ooh! Brooo! That's a Lady Dior!" she squealed, voice peaking in delight.
