The morning sun hung over Backlund.Meanwhile, in Christin's office, he was reviewing a document — Viscount Corniferous's file.
Viscount Corniferous was a man in his forties, with brown hair and blue eyes. He lived in Empress Borough, Unit 183. Though not a Beyonder himself, he is protected by three Beyonders: two at Sequence 7 and one at Sequence 6.
After reading through the information, Christin sighed.I guess killing him won't be easy, he thought.
Still, he had already decided — Corniferous had to die. If that man wanted revenge for his dead son, there was no telling how far he would go to achieve it.
After a moment of silence, Christin stood up and left the office.
Meanwhile, in Empress Borough, Unit 183 inside a spacious room four people sat together: three women and one middle-aged man.
"How did it go?" the man asked.
A woman with long brown hair and green eyes answered calmly,"Yes, it went very well. He was sound asleep and shouldn't have noticed the fire. Though… I should have killed that annoying dog."
A smile spread across the man's face."Good job, Juliana. I knew you were perfect for this task."
Juliana frowned slightly before speaking again."What about the Machinery Hivemind? He was one of their captains. There's no way they won't investigate his death."
Corniferous's smile grew wider."Don't worry. I have connections. It'll look like he died in a house fire — nothing more."
Juliana shrugged. "If you're so sure, Corniferous, then I'll go with the flow."
At that moment, Christin stood near the house, watching silently. Then he took out a small box. When he opened it, there was a simple-looking necklace inside — a sealed artifact: 2-254, Necklace of Strength.
When worn, this necklace granted the physical strength of a Guardian. However, the longer one wore it, the more they would begin to despise those weaker than themselves.
Christin put it on.
Then, without hesitation, he walked up to the house and knocked.
A few seconds later, the door opened. A man stood there and asked coldly,"What do you want?"
Christin didn't answer. He punched the man in the face, sending him flying several meters away and knocking him unconscious. Calmly, Christin stepped inside and closed the door behind him.
As soon as he entered, the floor beneath him turned to ice, freezing his legs in place.
A brown-haired woman walked out of a nearby room, wielding a sword wreathed in black flames.
Christin stared at her and said, "Why are you even following this man?"
Juliana's expression remained blank. "It's none of your business."
Without another word, she dashed toward him.
Christin flexed his legs slightly, shattering the ice around them with ease — the sudden display of strength caught Juliana off guard. Before she could react, he punched her in the stomach, then immediately followed with another blow to her face, sending her stumbling back and coughing up blood.
Sensing danger, Christin moved aside just as a long ice spike shot past, piercing the spot where he had been standing a second ago.
He turned toward the source, broke the spike in half, and hurled it back toward Juliana at fast speed.
Juliana managed to block the projectile with her flaming sword, eyes wide in shock."When did you get so strong!?" she gasped.
"Why should a dead person care?" Christin replied coldly before charging at her again.
Then sticky, spider-like silk shot out, wrapping around him and slowing his advance — but he easily tore through it. Juliana responded by forming an ice spear and hurling it at him. Christin caught it midair and threw it back. She barely dodged.
Juliana started to summon several ice peaks, but Christin was already in front of her. His fist smashed into her face, turning it into a bloody mess. He continued to strike again and again, each blow heavier than the last, until she collapsed unconscious.
Exhaling slowly, Christin straightened up but before he could move, two sharp ice spikes shot into his arms. He turned to see two women standing there, both visibly shaken.
"H-how did you beat Juliana so easily?" one of them stammered.
"Why should you care?" Christin replied coldly.
He snapped the spikes off, yanked them from his arms, and threw them back at the women. They dodged, but Christin was already charging.
Each of the women conjured a black fireball and threw it at him. Christin dodged effortlessly, closing the distance in an instant. He punched both of them, sending them sprawling, then grabbed the two by their necks and slammed them together — knocking them unconscious.
"H-how… how did you beat them?" Corniferous stuttered from the corner, trembling violently.
Christin turned his gaze toward him."You really thought two Sequence 7s and one Sequence 6 could stop me?"
Corniferous's voice shook. "W-wait, I can explain—"
But before he could finish, Christin's fist smashed into his face.
"That's for my house," Christin growled. Another blow landed. "That's for almost killing my dog."
He continued punching, over and over
After several minutes, Christin finally stood up, breathing heavily. There was barely anything left of Corniferous's head.
