Chapter 9 - Chapter 9-Cursed

AURORA'S POV

This is ridiculous. I may have been used to being bullied back in Velmoria, but I have never come across torment like Damion's.

I dragged the heavy bucket of meat as I walked to the back side of the castle. There was a huge pond, it almost looked like a river. It was scary.

Huge monstrous creatures came out of the water.

"These ain't crocodiles, these should be demons," I flinched, nearly dropping the bucket.

I walked closer to the water and threw the chunks of meat inside, nearly falling over.

"Careful, these creatures are deadly," a manly voice echoed from behind me. "Here let me help."

"Uuh! Sorry, I didn't see you there." I couldn't believe there were kind lycans here.

I looked to my sides to make sure Damion didn't pop out of nowhere and shred me to pieces about what I wanted to do.

"What's your name?" I batted my eyes. He chuckled slightly and took the blood-smeared bucket from my hands. My tiny hands felt a sense of relief.

"I am Lukas. I am one of the pack warriors," he simply answered. He avoided my gaze.

"Lukas, I want to ask you something. Can you keep a secret?" I strolled over to him and held his hand. I felt his hand tremble slightly.

Was he blushing?

"It depends on what you wish to ask," he said.

"Great, do you have any idea about the weird magical sphere in Damion's other room?" I asked. At this point, I was concerned about what that thing really was…a portal? A mirror to see other worlds? I had to find out.

I didn't give two shits about Velmoria Kingdom, but what I saw was bad. No one deserved to be tortured that way. Even if they treated me like that my whole life, Caleb's bullshit had to be stopped somehow.

"I am not allowed to disclose any information about that to you," he said. His voice was shaky and hoarse.

Lycans get scared? I thought they were the deadliest species on Earth.

"Oh, come on. If you're worried about Damion, he won't find out," I pleaded.

Yep, I was sounding like a desperate lunatic.

He stared into my eyes with a worried look. His eyes glowed with anxiety, or maybe that was just the moon reflecting.

The crocodile demons hissed and splashed water all over.

"Fine, but you never heard it from me," he groaned.

There, there, wolf boy.

"That sphere is the only mirror of the outside world that the Lycan King has. He cannot step foot outside the castle gate without the barrier stopping him from leaving. Only Lucien and a few others can pass the gate. The rest of us are bound by the curse," he narrated. His voice was deep, low, and dangerous.

This sounded like a big deal.

"Curse? What curse?!" I half-yelled.

"You mean, you have never heard about the Lycan King's blood moon curse? It's been going on for centuries." He looked at me like I was insane.

Clearly, I don't read the news from my little crows.

"LUKAS!" Damion's deep voice echoed from behind.

He startled both me and Lukas.

His heavy footsteps made a thunderous sound as he approached us.

Yep, I am so sure he will feed me to his crocodile demons.

"Your Highness, I was just showing Aurora how to feed the demons- I mean crocs." He bowed and kept his head low.

I couldn't help but look at him funny.

"I do not want to see you getting this close to my maid. She can figure out how to feed these things on her own," Damion growled.

"Are you jealous?" I asked.

I got you, Lycan King.

He shook his head in disbelief.

"Wait, what? Eww, no. Why would I be jealous of a colourless girl?! No hint of colour on you apart from your bloody red lips!" he groaned. "You can never be my type."

I don't know why his words hurt me so badly.

Lukas flinched beside me. He gave me a worrisome glance before taking his leave.

"Lukas, go train the other warriors. They're coming in numbers," Damion ordered.

My cold glance didn't drop from my face, but I had so many questions for him.

I wanted to know about the curse, who was coming, Velmoria Kingdom showing on his magical sphere, and somehow I wanted to know if he meant the words he just said.

I walked off to the castle, leaving him behind as he barked orders at other lycan warriors and ripped out someone's heart. Was this his way of sorting out things? How dreadful.

I reached the halls, and I heard small whispers.

"Maybe she can end the curse for us. I am sick of being stuck in this castle," a voice echoed silently.

"Are you insane? A maid prophesied to have some weird powers ending a curse that has lasted the test of time… Never!" Sera's voice echoed. It was audible.

I felt anger rush through my veins. Why did this bother me? The curse was none of my concern, Velmoria was none of my concern.

I turned my heel to leave the hall till a hand grabbed me hard.

"Where you spying on us?!" Sera twisted my arm tightly. I could feel the blood supply being cut.

That will definitely leave a mark.
