Chapter 208 - True Warrior

"Damn it, why didn't you step up and stop him?" Waver asked furiously, glaring at the men who were busy dealing with the giant bull monster's corpse. Dr. Shan was being dragged away to change clothes, looking utterly unwilling.

"Firstly, Dr. Shan herself didn't resist very hard!" Conrad used a short knife to hack fiercely at the bull monster's front leg, struggling to cut through the hide.

"Secondly, do you really think we could have stopped him with that guy's methods if we had stood up to him?"

Conrad rubbed his aching tiger's mouth in frustration. Even cutting up the corpse of such a huge bull monster was exhausting, and the other guy had killed it with a mere wave of his hand.

He silently calculated. The disparity in power between their group and the other guy was like the current United States versus some African tribe - a world of difference. If they provoked him, besides the two women, the others probably wouldn't survive.

As a survival expert, Conrad understood the law of the jungle better than anyone. He didn't want to lose his life for some inexplicable reason.

"Cowards! You let Dr. Shan face that demon alone because you were afraid of him! You people are a disgrace!" Waver, not letting up, began to curse incessantly.

Currently, it's the rise of feminism. Waver, as a representative of the feminist anti-war faction, even has a large number of so-called supporters in New York. Whenever something involves so-called women's rights, she will always come forward as a vanguard.

Just now, someone, under the guise of changing clothes, pulled Dr. Shan into the bushes. Although everyone couldn't see what was going on over there, you could guess with your toes what was happening!

"They're both in the bushes over there, and judging by the swaying of the treetops, they haven't moved from that spot. If you're really angry, you should go over there and argue with them directly, instead of getting angry at us!" Conrad retorted indifferently.

It's true that he and the photographer had developed some good feelings for each other on the way here, but that doesn't mean he needs to be pointed at and scolded.

If you're really angry, go find that Oriental Man to vent! Why come to me?

"You think I don't dare?" Waver was furious. This man was truly a bully, afraid of the strong and bullying the weak. He didn't dare to resist that Oriental Man for women's rights, and now he was actually blaming her. He was simply a disgrace among men.

How did she ever get so blind as to think he was decent?

"What are you doing?" Seeing Waver's furious expression as she charged towards the bushes, Conrad quickly grabbed her.

"Go find that bastard and argue with him! What does he think women are?" Waver was righteous. As an anti-war feminist, she was never afraid of any enemy.

After all, she had the so-called political correctness halo on her, and everyone would automatically back off when she appeared in public.

"Are you crazy? This isn't New York, nor is it Washington. Do you think the other party won't kill people with their methods?" Conrad roared in a low voice. Was this woman's brain not working properly?

The guy's gaze just now was complete disregard. Conrad was sure that if their group showed any hint of resistance, the other party would not hesitate to kill them all!

After all, this mission had nothing to do with this group of people. If they didn't obstruct Li Qingyuan from completing the mission, he would naturally ignore them. But if these people were courting death, then he wouldn't be soft-hearted either.

Don't think that just because he looks like Loki and Ms. Marvel, he'll let them off. If you looked like Black Widow or Hill, maybe you'd be of some use. You look like Ms. Marvel, what use is that?

"Only cowards fear death! True warriors dare to face all kinds of dangers!" Waver spat disdainfully. Did she really think she was scared?

Did she not know how she got to be the leader of the anti-war feminist faction? She had suffered all kinds of threats and even slanders. Those politicians in Washington couldn't scare her, and this mere Oriental Man wanted to scare her? Simply ridiculous!

Seeing how stubborn the other person was, Conrad could only sigh helplessly. Why wouldn't this girl listen to reason!

Going over there to argue with them now would be like throwing meat buns to a dog – a complete waste of time.

He was torn. Seeing Waver like this, there was no way to dissuade her. If she actually went over there, the best-case scenario would be that she was made to change clothes with them, and the worst-case scenario... she might get herself killed!

Just as Conrad hesitated, Waver had already broken free of his grasp and charged towards the bushes. "Damn it!" Conrad cursed helplessly, running after Waver while shouting.

"Waver, stop, don't run!"

He shouted particularly loudly, just to alert the two people changing clothes in the woods that someone was coming.

After all, he didn't want to be silenced for seeing something he shouldn't, that would be too unjust!

Waver quickly advanced towards the bushes, determined to show the other party what she was made of.

Even if the other side might have some magical means, Waver believed that justice was on her side, and God would protect her.

Justice will prevail, right?

But before she had even gone halfway, Waver felt a sense of inexplicable trepidation.

"Get down!"

Conrad shouted at her from behind.

Waver didn't even think before dropping to her knees. Although she was a radical anti-war feminist, she had, after all, been on the battlefield for several years, so she still had the most basic survival experience.

A gust of wind, reeking of blood, swept over her, followed by a continuous burst of gunfire!

Milky-white blood drifted down from above, drenching Waver.

"Are you alright?" Conrad immediately ran over to Waver's side, pulled her up, and asked.

"I'm...fine!" Waver gritted her teeth to stop the trembling. Less than two meters from her, a monster the size of a rhinoceros was still struggling.

Conrad's bullets had all hit the monster's body. In the outside world, it would have killed any animal, but on this island, the power of firearms wasn't as great as one might think.

The monster on the ground was clearly not dead. It looked very much like a Velociraptor reconstructed by scientists, but its head was like a wolf's head.

The monster's spine was covered in sharp, pointed barbs that glistened in the sunlight.

If she had been just a little slower, she would have been torn to pieces by this monster!

"Hiss!"

But before she could celebrate, several more of these monsters sprang out of the grass.
