Andrew felt astonished when Vita brought up being 'interested.'
His pulse quickened instantly, and the urge to clarify hit him hard—he couldn't let this turn into a misunderstanding.
"No, I'm not interested in you, at least not how you're thinking," Andrew said quickly. "I just believe you'd work better with me than she would."
"Well, obviously! You're putting me up against Amara—that's practically an insult. Anyone would outperform her," Vita said, rolling her eyes. "I'm professional and efficient. Don't worry, I'll handle everything even if we're not sharing the same space."
"N—No, that's not what I meant, I—ugh!" Andrew's frustration mounted. Vita seemed to carry this constant edge of hostility toward him, despite his genuine intentions.
"Anyway, I'm taking half your documents to work on them in Mrs. Preston' office," Vita announced, gathering more than half the papers from his desk. "I'll swing by if there's anything important for you to sign."
