Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 The Minimum You Could Do

Grace's POV

I stopped for a moment. My heart wasn't breaking because I still loved Charles, but because of how casually he spoke about it. He acted like betraying me was just another Tuesday, like I had no right to feel hurt.

What stung even more was how he tried to comfort me by saying I'd remain his "Official Wife."

Like that was supposed to make me feel better.

I didn't spin around to face him—I refused to let Charles witness how deeply his words cut me. Instead, I kept folding my clothes and stuffing them into my suitcase, staying quiet, pretending his disgusting words never reached my ears.

Charles made that annoying clicking sound with his tongue. "Why are you being so dramatic? You understand I'm not screwing Amara because I want to, right? This whole mess is on you—it's your fault because you're sterile and barely qualify as a woman! You couldn't do your job, so naturally I had to find someone else to give me a kid."
