Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Roselle's Diary

The party was still going on.

Someone else spoke up, "I have some Rosell's Diary to sell. Is anyone interested?"

Rosell's Diary? From that Transmigrator, and he was even a Transmigrator suspected to be from Huaxia.

Luo En suddenly became interested and sat up straight, waiting for the person to continue.

"I have three pages here, only 5 su le. I can guarantee these are real."

5 su le... Luo En calculated the price in his mind.

"Ha, you bring something that no one can understand. Why are the people at today's party so uncultured?"

"These are left behind by Emperor Rosell. They are genuine treasures!" The person retorted.

"If no one can understand it, no matter how precious it is, it's useless." A hoarse female voice sounded.

"I can buy it," Luo En said amidst the mockery, "but I want to see one page first."

At this moment, the old gentleman from the Eye of Wisdom on the side spoke, "Emperor Rosell's diary is said to have been written by Emperor Rosell himself using a secret script or symbols he invented, but even after hundreds of years, no one has found the correct way to decipher it."

Is he telling me not to waste this money? Luo En understood the meaning.

"I want to give it a try." Luo En rejected the Eye of Wisdom's kind offer and turned to the person, "Do you agree?"

"Yes." The person, seeing a sucker, quickly agreed to the transaction.

Before long, a waiter brought over a page of Emperor Rosell's diary.

Luo En took the paper and saw a large area of crooked text, but upon closer inspection, he could distinguish that it was Chinese, and simplified Chinese at that.

He just didn't know if the crooked appearance was the fault of the transcriber or if Rosell's own handwriting was bad.

Looking at these scribbles, Luo En read on with a stiff upper lip.

"January 1, 1184, a grand New Year's Eve party. Mrs. Flornal is truly a stunner."

Upon seeing the first sentence, Luo En's brows furrowed. This Transmigrator was indeed unreliable.

"January 2, my gentlemen of the Diplomatic Committee are all donkeys!"

"January 3, the choice back then was too hasty. Now it seems that whether it's Apprentice, Seer, or Marauder, they are all better. Unfortunately, there's no way to go back."

Is this a diary? Luo En looked at the long string of dates above.

"How is it? Have you confirmed it?" Seeing Luo En silent, the person became a bit impatient.

"Okay, I agree to the transaction."

"By the way, do you really not understand it?"

Luo En asked abruptly.

"I don't understand it anyway. Do you understand it?"

"Of course not, I'm just a little curious." Luo En quickly denied.

"Does no one really understand it?" Luo En whispered again.

Luo En looked around and only saw bewildered gazes.

Ah! You don't understand? He doesn't understand either? Everyone doesn't understand? Ah~ Then I...

A thought suddenly flashed through Luo En's mind.

Since Emperor Rosell's diary is so valuable, could he forge some?

Anyway, no one understands it. If this business gets started, it's a no-capital business.

Thinking of this, Luo En couldn't help but get excited, and his resentment towards Rosell lessened. It seemed this senior Transmigrator had left a way out for his juniors.

Just as Luo En finished his transaction, another lady said, "I want to sell a weapon. It's a dagger with extreme sharpness, capable of easily cutting through iron sheets. Carrying it on one's person can temporarily enhance physical fitness, reduce pain, and allow for instant mastery of various cold weapons and light hot weapons."

"What are the negative effects? What do you want to exchange it for?" Someone was moved and asked.

"Carrying it on one's person for a long time will gradually make the user cold-blooded. Over time, it will cause the user to lose normal human emotions."

"But as long as it's not carried for more than a day, those problems will recover on their own and will not cause any serious impact."

"My price is 500 su le or the sequence 8 Barbarian formula."

So expensive! Luo En sighed in his heart.

Although Luo En was also somewhat interested in this weapon, considering that he didn't have much su le left, he could only smile helplessly.

But this lady's words also gave Luo En a rough idea of the price of a sequence 8 Beyonder Potion formula, which, with possible premium, would be at least 400 su le or more.

At this price, he was still very far from advancing.

While Luo En was calculating the price, the dagger had already been bought by a gentleman.

Subsequently, others proposed transactions, some successful, some failed.

After some more time, the living room became quiet, and no one spoke again.

Then the old gentleman from the Eye of Wisdom stood up and announced, "This gathering is now over."

He then began to arrange for people to leave. Luo En noticed that there were several exits here, and everyone left at different times, trying to stagger their departures.

'To prevent anyone from having ill intentions,' Luo En guessed.

After everyone else had left, the old gentleman from the Eye of Wisdom looked at Luo En and said, "You wanted information about Assassin. I can tell you now."

"Hmm," Luo En nodded.

"Assassin is the name of a Sequence 9 Beyonder Potion. They all possess extremely strong physical qualities. Like the name Assassin suggests, Beyonders of this Pathway have extremely high assassination skills and strong tracking abilities."

"Their eyesight is very strong, allowing them to see targets in Darkness, and they also possess the ability to unleash all their power in a single strike."

He looked Luo En up and down and continued, "As far as I know, most Assassins are psychologically abnormal. If you provoke an Assassin, don't think about confronting him head-on. Run as fast as you can."

"Although Assassins also track and perform divination, with the current speed of steam trains, as long as you run far enough, an Assassin may not be able to find you."

'Uh, he saw through me.'

Luo En's mouth twitched. He hadn't expected this gentleman's deduction ability to be so strong.

He didn't say anything, just took out money from his pocket and handed it to the other party.

The Eye of Wisdom took the money and said to Luo En, "You must have just entered the field of mysticism, right? Would you like to consider buying some knowledge from me?"

"Knowledge?" Luo En was a little confused.

"That's right, knowledge."

The old gentleman from the Eye of Wisdom nodded and said, "As a newcomer like you, if you don't have enough knowledge, you will definitely go astray. There is a lot of true and false knowledge in mysticism, and newcomers often can't distinguish it."

"If you want it, I can sell you some basic knowledge about the Beyonder domain for only 10 su le.

Believe me, it's absolutely worth it."

Why does it feel like I'm being treated as illiterate? Luo En felt speechless under the Eye of Wisdom's gaze.

Although he didn't like the other party's gaze, it was undeniable that in the field of mysticism, he was indeed half-illiterate.

The old gentleman from the Eye of Wisdom also seemed like a good person, and being able to obtain reliable mystical knowledge from him was indeed a good opportunity.

It was just the price, 10 su le, which, based on purchasing power, was already around eight or nine thousand.

'Forget it, you can't catch a wolf without sacrificing a cub.'

Luo En gritted his teeth and pulled out another 10 su le.

"A smart choice."

The old gentleman from the Eye of Wisdom took the banknotes and led Luo En to the study. He took out a stack of documents from the desk drawer and handed them to Luo En.

"This is definitely more detailed and reliable than any information you search for yourself."

"Thank you." Luo En took the documents and then left under the guidance of a waiter.

He first returned to the Grizzly Bar, retrieved his luggage from Wine Bottle, and then rushed non-stop towards the Backlund train station.

Upon hearing the description of Assassin, Luo En knew that he definitely couldn't win in a head-on fight, and the silver-haired woman who gave him the Beyonder Potion was most likely a Beyonder of the Assassin Pathway, and her Sequence level was definitely not low.

"This is simply not something I can handle. I need to leave quickly." Luo En decided to follow the old gentleman from the Eye of Wisdom's advice and hide in another city.

To reach the train station earlier, Luo En even spent a lot of money to take a horse-drawn carriage.

About half an hour later, Luo En arrived at the Backlund train station. Luo En didn't admire the Victorian-style building but went straight to the ticket counter and said to the ticket seller, "I want to go out of town. Are there any immediate departures?"

"Ah~ yawn, sir, you don't even look at the time. It's almost midnight. How could there be a steam train!" The ticket seller, who was sleeping on the floor in the ticket station, answered somewhat speechlessly.

"What!" Luo En realized he had made a common sense Error. In this era without electric lights, passenger steam trains almost never operated at night.

"Then I want the earliest train tomorrow."

"Wait a moment, let me check." The ticket seller took the timetable and flipped through it.

"Anywhere is fine?"

"Yes, anywhere, as long as it's out of town." Luo En's tone was a bit anxious.

The ticket seller looked up at Luo En and said, "Uh, then there's only one destination."

"That's the one, give me the ticket." Luo En urged directly without waiting for the ticket seller to finish.

"Okay, there are only second-class seats left, 10 su le."

Luo En took out a 10 su le banknote and handed it to the ticket seller.

Then the ticket seller handed Luo En a second-class train ticket. Taking the ticket, Luo En didn't stop and walked directly towards the platform.

Watching Luo En's hurried back, the ticket seller muttered.

"What a strange person."

...

Sitting on the platform steps, Luo En absentmindedly teased a cat. Having arrived at the train station, he didn't plan to go back to Rose Street or find a small hotel. A few hours weren't worth it.

So Luo En just waited at the train station.

"Just consider it saving money."

"But it's so hard to endure!"

After enduring several hours in the night, Luo En saw the Sun slowly rising and heard the distant whistle.

Accompanied by a roar, the steam train entered the station.

"Finally here." Luo En put the cat back in his bag and then carried his luggage towards the train.

Before boarding, Luo En glanced at the train ticket. Only then did he realize that the train's final destination was — Tingen.
