Chapter 21 – The War of Heaven and Heart

The Sky That Bled Light

The rift widened.

One by one, divine figures descended—each draped in light, crowned in authority, their eyes burning with judgment.

The Pantheon had arrived.

The heavens rippled as seven gods stood above the earth, their mere presence bending air and time.

They were beauty and terror made flesh—each a fragment of creation itself.

At their center was Serath, the High Radiant, who once called Eryndor "brother."

He gazed down, voice calm but cold.

> "Balance was meant to die. You were warned, Eryndor."

Eryndor's wings unfurled—vast, shimmering between gold and black. "And yet, here I stand. Not as your Balance, not as your slave—but as what you forced me to become."

---

The First Strike

Without warning, lightning carved the horizon.

Valanir, God of Judgment, hurled his spear of pure light toward Eryndor. It struck with enough force to erase a mountain—yet the blast was caught midair, frozen in time.

Eryndor's hand trembled, the world itself obeying his will.

"I told you," he said softly. "I didn't want war."

He redirected the spear skyward, where it exploded into a thousand burning stars.

The gods hesitated—some out of shock, others… out of fear.

---

The Whisper Within

Then came the whisper.

Faint, soft, and achingly human.

> "Eryndor… remember who you were."

Seliora's voice. Still inside him, faint as wind through broken glass.

He staggered, the divine flames around him dimming for a heartbeat.

"I remember," he whispered. "The boy… not the god."

Serath's eyes narrowed. "That weakness will be your undoing."

"Or my salvation," Eryndor answered.

---

The Clash of Realms

The gods attacked as one.

Fire, light, void, storm—four elements collided at once, forming a storm that ripped through dimensions. The mortal world began to fracture beneath their war.

Eryndor rose through it, glowing brighter with every strike he endured. His mortal heart fueled his defiance.

For every god that struck, he answered not with vengeance—but with reflection, bending their power back, forcing them to face the chaos they created.

> "You call yourselves divine," he said, voice echoing through eternity, "but you have forgotten mercy."

---

The Choice

At the height of the battle, Serath's blade pierced his chest.

Golden light burst out—but Eryndor didn't fall. Instead, he caught the sword's hilt, pulling Serath close.

"Brother," he whispered, eyes glowing with both pain and compassion, "what is Balance without forgiveness?"

And with that, he shattered the blade in his heart—not to destroy, but to restore.

The world trembled as divine light spread outward, dissolving the rage and madness that had poisoned the heavens.

Seliora's voice echoed one last time, peaceful now:

> "You've found it… Balance at last."
