Chapter 24 - Meeting of the seventh, ninth, fifth, and fourth mercenaries

"Okay, I see. You'll have to go in. I'll be there later," said a voice on the phone.

"Okay, understood, Mr. Seven," Julius said on the call.

"I just hope he's okay. He said to go find Isaac and that he and I should look for the others," Julius thought as he ran.

"It was lucky that I was able to give him some details and that the other guy was able to help thanks to the phone," Julius thought.

"The truth is that I had many suspicions about this mission, and I have a phone that only connects me to him even when there's no signal," Julius thought as he ran through the corridors.

Narrator: "If you're wondering, before the mission began, Sifon was always very suspicious of the council because they sent rookies on this mission," said the narrator, explaining.

"Before everyone took their positions, where they would each go in secret, Sifon secretly gave Julius a phone that would only connect to him and did not need a signal, since the signal only connected to Sifon's phone," said the narrator, continuing with the explanation.

"Sifon was suspicious from the beginning, and with what Julius told him, Sifon's suspicions were confirmed. They wanted one of the rookies to be cannon fodder. In other words, they wanted someone with the kōki to test how it works, use them as a test subject, and then kill them," said the narrator, finishing the explanation.

Julius cuts the call and enters the place on the orders of Seven, who is in the same place as before, observing with a telescope, but he sees something strange above, on the top floor, where there is a single guy with three others above him.

But he sees them placing bombs around the place, planning to destroy it, but he also sees a person approaching the door, Five, who has arrived there after running so much, and who sees the guys.

They see Five and watch him for a long time. Five draws his katana and stands guard, while the others, just one guy with albino hair, takes out a large metal spike while the other two stay behind.

The other two stay behind, and one of them, who is wearing a hat, just laughs expectantly. Seven watches as the guy with the mace lunges and attacks Five, who blocks the attack.

But this guy makes it difficult for him because even though he has a slim body, he is very strong and doesn't look like he's dead.

"Well, I think our friend has problems. What do you think, Four?" said Seven.

"Well, I think we should help as soon as possible. This has already worn me out with the problems that came after," said Four.

"Well, it's not hard for you to fight with your injuries, right?" said Seven.

"Yes, but I can still use a lot of skill," said Four, standing on the railing and activating his ability.

"Well, hold on tight. This won't be good if you let go," said Four, grabbing a railing with his ropes.

Seven grabbed Four and they launched themselves outside, swinging through the air and hugging each other, breaking the window and landing on the ground.

Five watches as the two make their dramatic entrance. Seven and Four fall to the ground, Seven landing on her feet with an acrobatic move, while Four falls face first, hitting the ground hard.

"Ah... I'm sorry, I forgot you're not well yet and I should have caught you," said Seven, looking at him.

"Don't worry, I'm fine, my injuries aren't that serious," said Four.

Narrator: "Just so you know, when Four defeated Amalia, she was injured by the explosion she herself caused, only later she encountered more enemies and had to jump out the window," said the narrator, explaining.

"When she jumped, she used what little strength she had left to use her ability and grab onto something with all her might, and so she swung and reached the fifth floor of a place that was a parking lot," said the narrator, continuing with the explanation.

"Luckily, lying there, she found someone who was Seven, who was also there keeping watch, and he helped her a little, even though she is better, her wounds have not healed, so she is still weak," said the narrator, finishing the explanation.

"Well, what are you guys doing here right now?" asked Seven.

"We saw you get here and start fighting with these guys, and we came because we saw you in trouble," replied Seven.

"I wasn't in that much trouble, but since you're here, you could help stop those guys who are planting the bombs right now," said Five.

"Hey, one question: how did you get to this floor without anyone seeing you before you arrived?" asked Seven.

"Did you even get ahead of everyone without us noticing?" asked Seven.

"It's as if you appeared out of nowhere, just like that. How is it possible to get here?" asked Seven one last time.

"Wait, I can't answer everything. The thing is, I came running down the stairs," said Five.

"I was running down each step, that's why they didn't see me. I thought the top floor would be where everything happened, but in the end, I see that it's not what I thought," replied Five.

"I see. Well, let's end this now," said Four, getting up.

"Wow, so you must be Seven, right? The seventh mercenary," said a voice.

"Who are you?" asked Seven, turning to the man in front of him.

"I don't think you know me, but your friend does. If I remember correctly, his name is Ten, right?" said the guy.

"Then you must be Safario. I'm not wrong, am I?" said another voice from behind the door.

"So this guy is the one who left Eight, Vell, and Ten in that state," said a young voice.

"Ah... Nine and Ikuren, what are you doing here? I thought you were still downstairs," said Seven, looking at who was coming through the door.

"Yes, I know, but I heard some noises from upstairs and came here, and I also ran into Ikuren on the way," said Nine.

Minutes before arriving upstairs, when Ikuren was interrogating the gravity guy with his gun.

"Hey, is he with you?" asked the guy.

"What are you talking about? No one is with me. I'm here alone," replied Ikuren.

Just then, someone peeks over his shoulder. In the distance, gunshots can be heard, and blood can be seen spilled on the ground, along with the dead guy.

Ikuren had been moved slightly, and a hand touched his face, moving his head. The man behind him had pulled out a gun and killed the guy with the gravity ability.

"You always trust in surprise attacks, kid. Never give your opponent a chance. You have to immobilize them no matter what," said the man.

"Nine, when did you get here?" said Ikuren, surprised.

"Well, I was about to go up a few floors, but then I heard something around here," said Nine.

"I see. Hey, just in case, did Seven tell you to do anything?" said Ikuren.

"I always wonder why the hell you ask everyone that," said Nine.

"Well, that's a no, then," said Ikuren.

Suddenly, they hear noises of people fighting. Nine and Ikuren hear the noise coming from the top floor.

"I see, they could be up there," said Nine.

"Well, I know where I'm going. Hey, Ikuren, are you coming with me?" said Nine.

"Of course I will. Otherwise, I'll be stuck here with a dead body," said Nine.

They climbed all the way to the top floor, and then Nine heard the sound of glass breaking and headed in that direction.

Right now, Nine and Ikuren interrupt the scene. Seven, Five, and Four see them and put their hands on their heads.

"I see, so that's what happened," said Seven.

"So what you heard first were the sounds of the fight I had with that guy Alvino," said Five, pointing.

"Wow, that surprises me, and how do you know my name?" said Safario, applauding.

"A wounded hitman told me your name," said Nine.

"I see, it was the one I left alive. Did you hear that, Lubao? Don't you think it's interesting?" said Safario, laughing.

"Yes, I heard you," said Lubao.

"Hey, Gaku, don't you think this situation is good? Now you have something to entertain yourself with, right?" said Safario.

"Yes, and I thank you for that, Safario," said Gaku.

"Stop fooling around. We don't have time now. The others must be down in the basement," said Lubao.

Suddenly, a loud noise was heard from below, as if the building were about to collapse, and it was coming from downstairs.

"It looks like Sukako is facing people with the imperial artifact. Well, at least it will serve as practice," said Lubao.

"Well, I think he'll be fine," said Gaku.

"I'll finish them off right now," said Gaku.

"There's no time, Gaku. We have to leave now," said Lubao.

"I see. All right," said Gaku reluctantly.

"Hey, Alvino, where do you think you're going? This isn't over yet," said Five.

"I'm sorry, but we'll have to postpone this fight," said Gaku.

But Seven moves quickly with a hidden dagger and aims for his neck, but Seven had to block an attack.

That attack was Lubao, who reacted in time. Then Ikuren activated his ability and fired, but suddenly someone deflected his arm upward.

That was Safario, who then took Lubao's side. They were surrounded by the others and ready to fight.
