As Richard reached his home, which was a pretty well established place, his house showed that Richard definitely wasn't poor, he parked his car, a kercedes in his garage and looked at the time.
8:00 PM
'Damn, mom is going to kill me for sure this time.' Thought Richard as he hurriedly exited the garage and tried to sneak in by the short cut door connecting the garage and the lobby, but it was locked, his mom wasn't that cunning to do something like this, so it was probably that cute damn sister of his.
Seeing no other choice, he went to see the main door, hoping for a miracle that could never happen, he tried to open the door wishing it opens, but well... it didn't come true, so he reluctantly rang the doorbell.
After a minute longer than necessary, the door opens, and from behind it, a figure of a long haired woman with the same hair and eye colour of Richard including similar beauty came into view, who looks to be in her early 50s wearing a white top and a black bottom with a red belt as a cherry on top.
"Look who showed up at last, the man, the myth and the legend himself." Said the woman in her early 50s or more like Richard's mom, with a glare that could probably bring catastrophe to the world if glares could actually do damage to the the surroundings.
"Sorry mom, Erwin kept me busy and wouldn't let me finish my business, he is very annoying." Said Richard, shamelessly.
"Don't give excuses, out of all the days in the month, you decide to come late today? At the date of your birthday? You know how worried I was? Your sister kept on giving me tension about what if someone murdered him? or what if he got kidnapped? I mean you should atleast have called and told me that you are going to be late Rick." Said his mom, anxiously.
'oh shit, I actually didn't even think of calling her, Goddamit.' Richard or as nicknamed Rick thought, as he started to formulate a way out of this predicament.
"My phone died a couple minutes after the call with Erwin when I had left the office already and was driving, I noticed it a little late and put it on charging in my car, but by the time it charged good enough, I already arrived home, that's why I wasn't able to tell you, but it's still my fault for not telling you as I had the chance to tell you sooner, I am really sorry mom but let's go inside, I won't do it again and I will be careful from now on to inform you if I really can't come home on time, I promise." Said Rick, creating a fake but a little believable story on the spot.
"Hmph, you better keep that promise young man and also take care of yourself more." Said his mom, afterwards they both went inside and Rick ran straight to the bathroom to take a shower.
After coming out of the shower, Rick changed into a more comfortable but stylish clothing mainly used for a special occasion, which in this case is his birthday.
He came out of his room and went to the living room, where a figure of a girl probably at the age of 16, with short black hair and black eyes and a vastly similar beauty to Rick and his mom, wearing pajamas and a white t-shirt that says Fuck the world, could be seen watching the tv and lazily laying on the sofa like the incarnation of sloth itself.
"What the fuck are you doing, Natasha?" Asked Rick.
"Being impressively productive, unlike you." Said Natasha, as if stating facts.
"Huh? The fuck? I have done much good for the world than you, and from which angle are you being impressively productive exactly? Cause the only thing I see you doing is overworking that ass of yours by always sitting and laying around the house, you lazy shit." Said Rick, annoyed.
"My presence itself surpasses any good work you have done, are doing or will ever do, not that you can ever do some good as even that job of yours where you fuck off to every now and then in the morning is fake, you even wear those fake glasses to look smart, you damn con artist." Said Natasha, in a tone of someone with a superiority complex.
"Hey! I do have the licence of being a therapist and a degree majoring in psychology as proof, you mutt." Said Rick, defyingly.
"Yeah, both of which are fake, you didn't even go to college, you moron." Said Natasha.
"I did my self study and I am a genius at it, as it made me good enough of a therapist, and at least I don't rat out my own blood, unlike a certain bitch." Rick retaliated.
"...?" Natasha gave a questioning look with a dumbfounded expression towards Rick.
"Oh don't act innocent, the locking off of the shortcut door to the garage and the main door just to get have fun watching me get scolded for 10 minutes straight, I mean you are a much bigger evil than I am, you damn devil." Rick blamed Natasha.
"Oh, yeah that waspretty fun haha, I was listening from here and the happiness it gave me to watch the world burn is truly fantastic." Said Natasha, mockingly.
"Ohh you little shi-" Rick grumbled with rage, but was cut off by another voice.
"Enough!" Said the voice.
"Oh c'mon! Do you really need to have such bad timing mom?" Said Rick.
"Shut up! Of all the days, why are you fighting with your sister today! It's your birthday, idiot! you are ruining your own special day, by yourself!" Said Rick's mom, angrily.
"But this prick is being an asshole!" Rebuked Rick.
"I said enough! Now go get the cake, it's time to cut it, and you too Natasha, stop lazing around and get ready." Said Rick's mom, tired of the siblings bickering.
"I didn't need your reminder, shasha!" Said Natasha, with a disrespectful tone.
"See, she is a bitch!" Said Rick, calling Natasha out.
"Oh my god you two, just get on with it!" Said Rick's mom or shasha.
"Ok fine~" Said Natasha, finally giving in.
"It wasn't my fault from the beginning, but alright." Rick on the other hand, still not fully giving in, but getting on with it to not waste his time.
After the back and forth, Rick went to take out the cake from the fridge, he puts it on the dining table, and sits on a chair to wait for others, after 5 minutes Natasha comes, who now isn't looking like garbage, and shasha too, comes right after, then she puts the candles on the cake.
Rick, then picks up the knife, and cuts the cake into 9 near equal pieces, as everyone else starts singing the classic song.
""Happy Birthday to you~"" sings both Natasha and shasha.
""Happy Birthday to you~"" They finish the song and clap as Rick cuts the last piece.
"Be forever happy, my dear." Wishes shasha, like a true mom.
"I don't believe in eternal happiness, having ups and downs is what makes life interesting, without suffering you can never taste the true feeling of victory, if you want to wish me good, then wish for me to be always victorious in any precarious situation in the end, with any means necessary, or you can just wish for me to win a lottery and get billions of dollars or some other things, whichever gets me a lot of money." Said Rick, smugly.
"Your gullibleness never goes away, does it? Hah... Ok, goodnight you two, I am fully exhausted." Said shasha, very tiredly, then goes to her room to sleep, and recharge herself from the exhaustion gotten by taking care of the two siblings.
"Congratulations! You are 23 this year, which means you are now 1 year more closer to your death, anyway... goodnight, Until we meet again tomorrow." Said Natasha, and went off to sleep in her room, then Rick too started going to his room to sleep.
Rick's room was on the second floor, and was a pretty big area with a full size bed in the top centre of the room, a smart tv right in front of the bed, an air conditioner above the bed, a wardrobe fixed in the right hand side wall of the bed, a large mirror beside the wardrobe, a desk with a chair right beside the bed and lastly, a big window on the left wall.
As Rick came to his room, he changes his clothes to a simple white t-shirt and black pajamas, then he switches off the lights, closes the curtains, starts the AC with a timer of 4 hours, and lays on his bed as he looks at the time one last time and gets ready to go to sleep.
10:00 PM
But.
The main plot finally kicks in.
