A fluttering heart can be felt in miles by the ones you love.
The news woke her up from her slumbers. Mrs Landon who had been cooled up indoors ran to her room with every fiber of hope, storming at her door.
She broke the news. The news everyone was dying to hear. Lilian ran out from the room, heading downstairs with tears streaming down her eyes.
"Can it be?" She asked herself as the car drove them to the hospital. The whole hospital was waiting for her. The cheerful smile on their face tells that her efforts have paid off.
Her heart beat faster and her mind went everywhere. She couldn't hold herself. The tears of joy flooded out as she opened the door to his room.
His eyes met hers. Could it be a dream? Lilian wondered.
This was a dream right? Everything seemed different until she heard her name being called by him.
"Lilian."
"Lucas." She said with a tearful smile. His face lit up and that smile, she had hoped for, lit up on his face.
"Come here." He said softly, still recovering. She walked further into the room to see him so pale but much alive.
"You woke up. I thought I was going to be the one that you will see first." She exclaimed and went for a hug.
"I did. I saw you all the time." He confirmed and gestured for her to come over.
Her body colliding with his confirmed everything. His hot breath cascaded his body and the warmth was there. Lilian couldn't let go for fear of losing him again.
"But how?" She asked, breaking the hug and staring at those grey eyes she misses so greatly.
"I can hear you. I heard everything."He told her and her surprised face said it all. He must have heard all the silly things she must have said.
"Everything?" She cringed.
"Yes. Everything." He chuckled slightly.
"Are you okay now ? What did the doctor say?" She asked nervously.
"That I am recovering very well." Lucas replied to her and pulled for a hug. They both stared at each other. Many words to say but don't know where to start.
Their faces moved closer, with love in their eyes, glimmering with hope and a second chance to start again. Their lips moved and ached for the lost days between them.
They inched closer and the rest was history. They couldn't stop themselves. Tears dripped from her eyes as they kissed passionately.
Mrs Landon bumped into them and laughed heartily. They broke the embrace and Lilian frowned for her intrusion, slightly embarrassed.
Lucas smiled deeply and stretched out his hand for her to come. Mrs Landon stifled the tears building up in her eyes.
"I can't. Lucas." She mentioned painfully. Who wouldn't run into his embraces and tell him that he was missed dearly.
"Please." He begged.
"It is fine. I am glad that you are okay." She said hastily, seeing that he was fine.
Mrs Landon headed for the door but was thrown aback by what he said.
"Mother." She froze at the door. Mrs Landon turned to see him giving her a reassuring smile. A smile that tells that everything is fine.
"How did you know?" She asked breathlessly. The tears streamed down.
"I have always known. I was waiting for you to come to me. We are past that conflicted argument. All we need is a second chance to start again. Life is too short and I have come to realize that." He told her, his eyes glancing at the both of them.
Mrs Landon ran to him and hugged him, apologising in between. Lilian joined in the hug. It was a lovely reunion. A reunion filled with tears, joy and memories.
Things went well for them. Lucas returned to the mansion where he was received warmly. Through his days, he went for vacations with Lilian by his side. Their relationship blossomed until he proposed to her.
Martin king died one morning and a small burial was conducted for him. Nobody attended except Lucas who wanted to say his goodbye.
The news got to Fiona who was happy at his demise but was puzzled about the miraculous healing on her brother, Lucas which made her pissed but there was nothing she could do.
Their honeymoon was bliss as she laid by his side. Their bodies intertwined and hands folded together basking in their warmth, their eyes fondled with love and passion. They both looked at the stars from the sky, reminiscing in the old days.
"I was blessed the day we met." Lilian said, kissing his lip softly. He smiled and pulled her close to himself.
"No. The heaven blessed us when we met." He replied her and it was true. Fate has brought them together and they defined their odds.
"I love you, Lilian Quest." He said with glee.
"I love you too, Lucas King." She replied with a warm smile.
They pulled close and kissed deeply under the stars shining brightly over them.
