Sometimes can't we just decide our own fate? Nothing attached or predestined.
It's been a year since the whole scandal happened. Things have taken a huge turn in the city. The King's Group was being run by professional management but it wasn't great as it was especially when the whole truth was out before the public.
Fiona King was sentenced to life imprisonment due to her crimes from murder to embezzlement. She was a maniac sent to spend her remaining days rotting there. Due to investigations, they found out that she killed one of her father's mistresses in a scuffle.
Dean on the hand was sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labour. He was convicted for his crimes for sexual molestations, involving rape and illegal use of drugs. Deep investigations were carried out and found out that he was into blackmailing. The testimonies from Jane and Elsa increased his sentences.
Martin King had a heart attack when he lost his company which led to paralysis. He was dumped at a nursing home by the management.
Mrs Landon, on the other hand , still lived in the mansion, nursing her loss. She seems lost and apprehensive. Her frail nature couldn't take the huge loss she was facing. The truth hurt so deeply like a knife sent to her heart.
The truth came to her when she least expected it. She couldn't believe that her family didn't just die in that accident but was orchestrated by Mrs Leorata King. The wife of Martin king.
It was obvious that evil runs in the family. Leorata was arrested by the police from one of her vacation houses. Mrs Landon couldn't forgive herself and just wallow in regret.
Lilian got her money unexpectedly. The money that brought her into this family. She was surprised when Timothy gave her the deed to the house and other entitlements in her name. Lucas had made the plans beforehand.
Tears welled up in her eyes and she couldn't accept it. Lilian was heartbroken. All she wanted was Lucas and he was gone. No money could justify anything or bring him back.
Bianca, her best friend, stood by her and helped to comfort her. Lilian wasn't having it, she was inconsolable and that void he had managed to close in her broke out into pieces, nothing to fix ,nothing to break.
Just then, something happened that gave them a glimpse of hope. The doctor ran to them with a marvelled look.
Lilian's eyes lit up when he saw him. Maybe , just maybe there is hope. Even if it was tiny.
"Doctor?"
"Well. We were able to stabilize him but we can't assure you that he will ever wake up. He is in a deep coma which leads to brain death. He is just barely holding on with life support." He tried to explain with a sad look.
"What are you saying?" Lilian asked in a hoarse voice, due to the heavy crying.
"We are asking for your permission to do the needful. Mr Lucas king needs all the moments he has with his family to say the final goodbyes. I am afraid that this might be his last days." He told them with his head down.
Lilian scoffed in disbelief, fighting not to believe his words. Her wit grew, not in fear but courage. She looked at the doctor with a firm stern that made him puzzled.
"Lucas is a fighter! Just leave him alone."
"But.. we are.." the doctor tried to explain.
"Mr King is strong. He has survived this before and he will!" Timothy added, feeling strengthened by her courage.
"I know but this is different. Let's face the reality. Don't waste your precious moment you have left with him."The doctor advised and was baffled by their ignorance.
"Has anyone survived this? Any chances that he will make it?" Lilian asked him boldly, startling him by the questions.
"Mrs King, you are acting irrational. I understand…" He tried to calm her down but her tone sent him speechless.
"Have you, Doctor Williams?" Lilian snapped.
"None." He admitted.
"Then he will be the first. Do your best and leave the rest for the heavens." She ordered and sat like a woman with power and authority.
"But.."
"Do what she said!" Bianca spoke harshly and the doctor obliged and walked away, still pondering on her statement. It was only the heavens that could save him. A miracle perhaps.
And yes, she was right. It has been a year since that incident. Though he hasn't woken up. Lucas was still very much alive.
Lilian devoted her time taking care of him. All pleas to help her take a break seem abortive until she comes across a letter meant for her in his room. Lilian was puzzled and read through it.
The letter told her to move on with her life, explore the world and be whatever she wants to be. It encouraged her and an idea popped up.
Lilian invested in her bag business and in no time, it flourished. Her bag had a line called ' Quest.' This made her become one of the richest women in the city. Her story inspired the people and helped them to find their path. She opened a foundation called ' Lucas Foundation for the sick' where people couldn't afford medical treatments. It was solely sponsored by the organisations.
With all these accomplishments, Lilian still filled that void. The void that only him can fill. Sometimes, she wondered if he was going to wake up or remain that way but her hope didn't waver.
Lilian still spends most of her time with him. Telling him about her adventures, accomplishments and how much she misses him. Hoping that one day, Fate might be good for them. Just once.
