Chapter 70 - Ch.70

Luo Guang knew. The gap in power between the God of the Bible and the chief gods of other mythological factions could be described as a chasm.

For example, the peak powers of this world were none other than the Red Dragon God Emperor and the Infinite Dragon God. Just below them was the Beast of the Apocalypse, 666. Before the Great War, the God of the Bible had painstakingly and secretly sealed the Beast 666 while other factions were completely unaware. Afterward, while still severely wounded, he waged war on both the Underworld and the Fallen Angels. He played a major role in dealing with the two Heavenly Dragons and, before his own demise, killed the Four Great Demon Kings of the Underworld. A large number of Fallen Angel executives were also killed by the God of the Bible. Kokabiel was just one of those Fallen Angel executives who had luckily survived.

Luo Guang's words had directly struck Kokabiel's greatest weakness. At this moment, Kokabiel could only be consumed by impotent rage.

But as his life force ebbed away, Kokabiel calmed down and began to laugh maniacally. Rias and Sona's group were bewildered. How could he still laugh when he was on the verge of death? Had Luo Guang beaten his brain to a pulp? Luo Guang, seeing this, already guessed what he would say next. He didn't try to stop him; he simply watched in silence.

Kokabiel coughed up blood, his crimson eyes fixed on Luo Guang.

"After the God of the Bible's death, it seems even the human reincarnation system has a malfunction!"

"You can use a Sacred Gear, and you can also use a devil's magic. I even sense the aura of holy power on you. These three completely different powers are coexisting within your body, and yet they haven't blown you to pieces!"

Those who didn't understand just thought he was speaking nonsense in his final moments. But one key phrase caught everyone's attention.

"What is he saying?" Rias asked, a little confused.

"He said... the God of the Bible is dead?"

"It's just a dying lie. The God of the Bible, the ruler of Heaven, how could he possibly die?" Sona pushed up her glasses. Although her heart skipped a beat at first, she quickly regained her composure.

Hearing her words, Kokabiel opened his bloodied mouth and laughed wildly.

"Hahahaha! I never thought I'd come across something so interesting just before I die! So you people don't know yet!"

"As expected, none of the higher-ups would dare let their subordinates know the truth. Since that's the case, you devils and followers of God, listen up! During that Great War, in addition to the Four Great Demon Kings, the God of the Bible also died!"

"That's impossible! God is the embodiment of rules, the ruler of all legions, the one and only God at the pinnacle of all pantheons!" The severely wounded Xenovia found a burst of strength and stood up to refute him. She was like a devout fan of a celebrity. Any words and rumors slandering God were unforgivable!

"Nothing is impossible. Even a god can die. Haven't you all noticed? Humans, who we once saw as trash, have now become objects of contention for you in the Underworld and Heaven. Have the vengeful spirits on the earth been increasing? That's because after God died, the world's rules completely went haywire, so much so that devils and angels alike couldn't even manage their own affairs."

"Impossible... absolutely impossible..." Xenovia murmured, trembling. Her usually heroic face was now filled with panic and disbelief. She was a devout believer, and her faith in God was second to none.

"Hahaha, then you'll just live in lies forever!" Kokabiel laughed. While laughing maniacally, he looked at Luo Guang, hoping to see panic and anxiety in his eyes.

But what stunned Kokabiel was that Luo Guang's expression hadn't changed at all from the beginning. It was as if the news of the God of the Bible's death meant nothing to him.

For Luo Guang, it didn't matter whether the God of the Bible was dead or not. In fact, because of the God of the Bible's death, the world's managing "system" was malfunctioning, which benefited him. After all, if God were still alive, he would have surely created a rule that Sacred Gears could not be forcibly stolen. All Sacred Gears were his creations. Changing that rule would have been a simple task for him.

"Aren't you surprised?" Kokabiel asked in disbelief. If he could see Luo Guang fall into the same panic and faith-shattering despair as the others before he died, Kokabiel could die in peace. But things didn't go as he wanted.

Luo Guang didn't answer. He just walked up to Kokabiel. "It's time to go."

"Wait..."

Without giving him a chance to speak, a stream of vermilion magic surged from Luo Guang's palm, incinerating Kokabiel's body into ash. But it wasn't over. After Kokabiel's body was burned, a ball of dark golden, intangible substance floated out of the ashes.

"I can't just let you reincarnate so easily." Luo Guang smiled faintly. He used his life essence to activate a binding Immortal Arts technique, attempting to confine Kokabiel's soul, which was about to dissipate.

The soul was as slippery as a fish in a pond, and it was being pulled by the earth, about to return to the underworld. In the past, even if Luo Guang had perfected his Immortal Arts, he would never have been able to bind the soul of a Fallen Angel executive. But after the God of the Bible's death, the system had long been malfunctioning, only able to maintain the most basic faith and prayers. Even holy light capable of healing devils, like Asia's, could appear, hinting that the situation was already on the verge of collapse.

With these circumstances combined, Luo Guang successfully bound Kokabiel's soul. After all, it would be a huge waste of such a good material if he didn't use it to feed the Banner of a Myriad Souls. Luo Guang discreetly put away Kokabiel's soul, intending to retrieve the Banner of a Myriad Souls from Yayoibaori and use his soul as a sacrifice.

After finishing everything, Luo Guang turned to look at the others. All the girls were still frozen in place, their expressions all different, clearly still reeling from the shock of God's death. Even for devils like Rias, Sona, and their parents, they had grown up with "ghost stories" like "if you're not good, the God of the Bible will come get you" or "if you don't eat your food, you'll see the God of the Bible."

But being devils, Sona and Rias, along with their peerage, temporarily recovered when Luo Guang approached. However, the state of Xenovia and Irina Shidō was much worse. These two women were warriors of pure faith. With God dead, their faith died along with him. Xenovia's face was filled with pain, and Irina's eyes were vacant, a clearly broken expression.

Luo Guang couldn't help but sigh inwardly. "A 'cult' is truly harmful."
