Synopsis for Veil Between: Chapter One

Following an unexplained departure from their previous life, Elara and her mother arrive at a long-abandoned, foreboding Victorian house that has been in their family for generations. Elara, who hasn't been there since she was seven, immediately senses that the house is not empty but is instead waiting.

Her unease is confirmed when she sees a fleeting shadow in the attic window—a sight she instinctively distrusts. Upon entering, the house is filled with an eerie stillness and the distinct, cold scent of something supernatural. The hallways are lined with numerous mirrors, a peculiarity her grandmother had insisted upon for "protection" against spirits.

Elara's fear intensifies when her reflection in one of the old mirrors momentarily distorts, wearing a knowing, sinister smirk. As she turns to leave, a soft, whispery voice speaks to her directly from the mirror, saying, "You've come back..."

Though the reflection returns to normal, Elara is left chilled and certain of two things: the malevolent presence in the house is real, and it has been expecting her.
