Chapter 9 - Monday again

Chapter Nine

Monday again?

Emily stretched her body and reluctantly stood up from the bed. She found her way to the shower.

Pouring water on her body feels like therapy to her at this moment.

If there is anything she needs to do now more than ever, she is to forget that she has a hot boss who made her extremely uncomfortable and unable to comprehend herself.

Emily was stuck meddling between her job and her awkward moment with her boss.

Her emotions ran wide as a huge smile blossomed and lightened up her face. She prided herself on always being on her toes in order to do her work diligently.

She checked her phone to be sure she wasn't behind time. She still had a few hours left.

Her eyes were swollen and puffy. She slept late last night but woke up early in the morning despite the long night. She proceeded downstairs to get herself a cup of juice.

"You are up already, when you didn't even have a proper sleep last night, you are overworking yourself Emily, I think you need a break it's been your eight month since you started working with Glams enterprises, you should talk to your boss, I am kinda certain he will grant you a proper leave". Rosie glanced at her, she noticed and ignored it.

"Rosie, I don't think you will understand since you handle the affair of your business yourself, look at you girl, you are boss of yourself, my case is different, I don't want to get replaced like the other lady who was working with Liam, you of all people should know how difficult it was for me getting this job, I have to maintain my position by all cause". She exhaled sharply, her tone a blend of concern.

"You seem desperate, you should be careful, you shouldn't allow yourself to feel the need to prove too much, and for the record you are doing well, I know in my heart of heart that if you lose this job you will always have something to do with your life". She responded.

"I hope your fear of losing your job is not going to cripple you from moving further in other areas of life". She exhaled.

"You don't seem to understand. I have to keep proving myself to Liam, I want him to know that I am a valuable asset in his company and make him know that he made the right choice eight months ago of hiring me," she gasped in shock.

" It's been eight months already, how time flies, indeed time waits for no one". Emily said, dropping the empty glass cup of juice on the table.

"I better hurry up. Liam wouldn't be happy if I turned out late, I don't want it to look like because of yesterday's incident, I am beginning to be nonchalant about my work".

She said and walked in the direction of her room.

She entered and began to dress in front of the rectangular mirror hung at the wall . She caught her reflection in the mirror and stared at the face that looked back at her in self-pity.

"I will be home today, I have no urgent work so far, I want to give in enough time to prepare for my next client order" Rosie remarked.

She admired Rosie, pulling it all together with family and business. She had never second-guessed her before. She gripped her elbow and squeezed. A simple gesture any friend would use in trying to get attention.

Rosie averted her gaze towards her.

"I am listening to Em."She responded, nodding occasionally to what she was saying.

"Talking about that, my boss is hosting an event, and he has been looking for an event planner".

Rosie smiled, grinning from ear to ear. Her blue eyes froze. She stared at her while blushing like puppies.

Emily fixed her gaze at her. "Trust me to recommend you to him any time". She declared her expression was exciting.

A knot formed in her stomach as Rosie flashed a quick smile. "I would really appreciate it dear, the money I had made hadn't rolled in by me sitting back. I had to work my ass off, throwing myself into work". Rosie said.

Emily turned and fixed her gaze on Rosie. "So the next time you think about talking down to me based on my work ethics, remember that you are a boss of your own, you have to think twice". She blew a frustrated breath and let out a contented sigh.

Rosie inhaled deeply. Why was Emily taking it personal? Was she only concerned? She furrowed her brows in concentration on the orders that were coming in from her phone.

"I would love it if I were allowed to be an adult for once. I want to make my own decisions and not to be treated like a kid".She swallowed hard.

"I have always supported you in whatever you planned to do, I make sure you are safe, and that doesn't count to you". Rosie remarked.

Why has Rosie been difficult lately? Has Rosie forgotten so soon how much she had prayed to get here?

Emily wasn't ready to let anyone get in the way, not even Rosie.

Rosie let out an audible sigh, engulfed with worries for Emily.

Emily paid deaf ears as she prepared to leave for work, taking in the sweep of her hair in a bun. She slipped into a loose black shirt and paired it with a matching red high-waisted skirt. A pair of heels completed the look showcased just how long those legs can be. It was comfortable and easy to move in.

She hates it when they fight. But Rosie has been a tough nut to crack. She wasn't going to get in her way, not this time. She breathed deeply. The only thing that mattered to her was this job, and she wasn't going to back down. The burn in her chest was still crippling. Her emotions welled up inside of her.

Rosie stared at her for a while. " You better hurry up then". She said as she pulled out of her room.

"I will". She said, running off for work.

What her friend said bothered her. But she couldn't afford such distraction, not at the expense of her job.
