Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 : Aftermath [1]

The sun's light glimmered through the starry coloured curtains on the balcony doors. Everett—the viscount's son— sat widespread on his luxurious bed , he was contemplating the events that had happened in the elmhaven grove.

A week had passed since his transmigration , a week since meeting his predecessor and a week of doing nothing. Being the supposed 'shut-in' of the Forestria family , he had no need to keep up appearance so he had spent the time he had studying the differences between Axis On Silver and the world he was in . And they were many .

Although the things he had read about followed the initial timeline of Volume 1 , the story had been rushed and subtle differences had crept their way in and he took notice of them.

He covered his face with the back of his forearm , it was then that he finally noticed ; a strange pattern bore on his right arm . It looked chevronic but it's lines were not zig-zagged , they drew from where his elbow began slowly moving from there to the centre of his palm. Those lines were like veins , but not the normal blue you saw when you pressed your hand , instead they were pure white , like a defiant white light that would never refute if tamed.

They moved closer to his wrist , a searing pain with them , at first he flinched at feeling but after a while it subsided , he was used to pain ; well not Everett—but Kumire , who had lived in the shadows of a boastful society knew of all the different types pain there was. Whether it was emotional or sometimes the pain of injury , he was used to it .

He had lived in the shadows for so long as a kid that now he had no problem living life as an extra without a worry . That was as long he had the resources to do so ; but he knew that it was impossible , considering the luck he had , well he knew that somehow he was either going to accidentally trigger an event or the protagonist who he was going to be classmates with was going to do that for him.

He let out a sigh , and kept observing the path of the lines of white light , they kept moving at the same slow pace that they had before but the difference now was they were halfway across his palm. It's brightness only increased as time flew and soon the entire room despite it's enourmous size was completely covered in that bright white light.

The brilliant light started to dissipate , only a miniscule amount of time had passed since it enveloping the room . It receded gracefull , the shadows creeping in to balance out the contrast , Everett who had covered his eyes with a silver piece of cloth , glanced at his for arm ; the flow of perculiar energy had stopped leaving only the marks he had , and at the center of his palm was a runic symbol very similar to the ones that had been carved on the silver coin in his possession.

It was a strange shape , he couldn't describe it , it was a square , it was a circle ,it was also a triangle ; it was truly the embodiment of shapeless. Symbols like that were mentioned countless times in the novel , mostly to add some world building. The world which relied on the energy of the Nexus was a broken world , ever since the emergence of the echo of night , chaos spread .

It was a bother , he took a breath and a seat at the same time .Raising his hand to meet his chin ,"The formless rune , I can't believe I was right." , he took a closer look at the irregular shaped symbol , he had spent so much time learning all the languages the author invented for each race and rare artifact even picking up some runic linguistics along the way .

Everett leaned to the other side of the bed , he took a mirror which he then used to magnify for better perspective , 'Intresting...' , although some of what his predecessor Merlin had told him was true however the other half was a complete lie.

He had some potential for illusionary arcana , that much he could tell after the birthday party of the Renon girl ; the other part was curious , how could he—a mere extra—be a resonant who could weild dual-nexana , from his point of view it was impossible , even if he were the main character he wouldn't have been that lucky . To possess a fragment , a thread and the ability to cast illusions wasn't a reality even in a world that exceeded the impossible.

"Haaa..." , he let out another sigh . So much was on his plate and with so little time , he had only months till the main event would be triggered and he needed to be prepared because no matter how much his existence had disrupted the plot that event was unavoidable . So much so that during his time as a devoted reader of Axis On Silver he would try to figure out a way the mc could have avoided the entire scenario , and even then only one thing he had found , there were no loopholes ; that bastard author had made it so .

He remembered all those times he had rushed to the comment section to complain about the difficulty of survival for Frian and all the times the author had completely ignored him making it even more difficult as the story progressed.

And now Everett was the one who was paying for it.

Suddenly a slight shiiing entered his ears with a strong wind following that. Immediately he turned around , someone had entered his room : he jumped from the bed scurrying to the balcony , it was still closed. He wasn't about to escape then and there , not because he was brave but the opposite , he knew if he tried to run then whoever or whatever was in this room with him would certainly catch up to him , meaning his immediate doom.

He eyes darted across the big room , there were many places where it could be hiding , his thoughts were a mess ; the bright light prior had blurred his vision , allowing young Everett no choice but to rely on his intuitive senses. From the sound to the taste of the air , he had located his predator , he rushed to the area behind his desk but sadly it was empty.

"Hello there , Everett Forestria. Mhm.... or should I call you Lord Sirius."
