Windsor's POV
I didn't waste a second leaving Apex Academy. No goodbyes to professors, no explanations to staff, not even a word to Pauline. With everything falling apart around us, staying felt like watching disaster unfold from inside a cage.
Why sit around when the people I cared about were facing real danger?
I grabbed my backpack and jacket, then bolted. Nothing else mattered.
The drive north blurred together in my memory. My wolf pushed me forward, paws hitting dirt and grass as branches scratched my skin raw. Blood probably traced my path, but physical pain meant nothing compared to the terror clawing at my chest. Every step carried the same desperate hope that I'd arrive before the worst happened.
The news footage had shown me exactly where to go. I recognized that mountainside, those rolling hills. The healing facility where Jelly lived. The one sanctuary in our fractured world where broken wolves could find peace.
It was the last place that deserved destruction.
