Windsor's POV
The escape went smoother than either of us had dared to hope. Zion and I slipped through the council building's corridors while Officials flooded the hallways after their meeting concluded.
Following Scarlett's guidance, we reached Zion's vehicle positioned mere steps from the main entrance.
I dove into the passenger seat before scrambling into the concealed compartment behind it. The confined space felt cramped yet secure enough for our purposes.
Zion maintained his usual composure, offering respectful nods to the security personnel as though this were any ordinary day. The guards gestured him forward without hesitation, and the heavy metal barriers groaned apart.
Freedom stretched before us.
Once we put sufficient distance between ourselves and the building, every muscle in my body seemed to uncoil at once. I pushed the compartment open and climbed into the front seat, collapsing against the cold leather with an exhausted breath. Zion's eyes found mine.
