Violet gathered as many fruits as she could find, carrying them in the folds of her skirt as she carefully held the hem up to keep them from falling. When she returned to the cave, she immediately noticed that the prince was still in the same position she had left him.
Something about seeing him like that made her feel responsible for his current state. Perhaps if she hadn't told him what had happened to his family, he would still be more enthusiastic, or at the very least, he would have carried the same air of arrogance he usually wore.
"Your Highness, I have gathered some fruits," she announced as she stepped into the cave.
Henry didn't move an inch.
Violet's lips pressed into a thin line as she watched him for a moment before walking over and sitting beside him. She picked up a cherry from her skirt and held it out to him.
"Would you care for some cherries, Your Highness?" she asked gently.
