Chapter 228: The Possibility of Phione's Evolution
A few days later, Ryan and his group returned to the Hoenn region. Over the past few days, Manaphy had truly come to regard Lillie as her mother. Lillie, after all, was developing into a trainer, but she was completely natural with newborn Pokémon like these, taking very good care of Manaphy.
Accompanying Ryan and Lillie was a man named Jack Walker, a Pokémon Ranger. Pokémon Rangers are trainers who capture Pokémon using a Capture Styler and have them cooperate with them.
Jack Walker brought Ryan and Lillie back to Hoenn because to find the Sea Crown, they needed to go to the Sea Temple of Samiya. To get to Samiya, they first needed Manaphy to guide them, and secondly, they needed the token of the People of the Water.
Jack Walker had brought Ryan and Lillie to the Hoenn region to find the People of the Water in order to obtain this token.
"Hey, Jack Walker, we're going to find the People of the Water, where are they?" Ryan asked.
"Um, at a small Marina Circus. The people there are the People of the Water, and they still have their tokens," Jack Walker said.
"A small Marina Circus? I heard Sapphire mention it; it's a famous underwater circus show," Lillie said, holding Manaphy.
"Wait, Sapphire? That glutton would even notice a circus performance?" Ryan asked doubtfully.
"Achoo." Sapphire sneezed and rubbed her nose.
Ruby turned to look at Sapphire and asked, "Got a cold?"
"No. Someone must be talking about me behind my back," Sapphire said.
The two were sitting on a ferry, preparing to head to a small island. Ruby gripped the Heart Dew in his hand; he was ready to take on the challenge and definitely catch a legendary Pokémon!
The scene shifts to Ryan, where Lillie rolls her eyes at him, saying, "Sapphire is also interested in various things. But she didn't expect the people from the Marina Circus to be People of the Water."
However, the Marina Circus is always on tour, their whereabouts unpredictable, and Ryan and his group only found them three days later.
They also met Hiromi, a descendant of the People of the Water, who immediately offered to help them travel to Samiya.
"By the way, where exactly is Samiya?" Ryan asked. Too much time had passed, and his memories of the movie were already somewhat hazy.
"We don't know either," Hiromi said. "That's why we need the power of Manaphy. Manaphy, no matter where they are born, will always return to their homeland."
"They?" Ryan seized on this point. "So, there isn't just one Manaphy. There are other Manaphy, right?"
"That's right. What is born from a Manaphy isn't actually a Manaphy, but another kind of Pokémon called Phione. But Manaphy is passed down from generation to generation, and each generation has only one Manaphy," Hiromi said.
"Or rather, only a Manaphy can inherit the title of the Prince of the Sea and its power. Phione cannot inherit this power, or rather, if a Phione inherits this power, it will transform or evolve into a Manaphy." As Ryan spoke, his eyes lit up.
Hiromi was completely bewildered, but she nodded nonetheless and said, "It's possible. It's just that Manaphy's power is passed down through generations, and I've never seen a Phione evolve."
Ryan smiled slightly: That's definitely a possibility!
Ryan's understanding of Aura is deepening, and he can see that Manaphy possesses an Aura from birth. Although he hasn't seen a Phione yet, with the example of Flabébé, Ryan feels there's an 80% chance his guess is correct.
Flabébé in its Eternal Flower form cannot evolve into Florges. Or rather, unable to refine its own Aura into a Domain, it would have perished from the Calamity. But Ryan's Flabébé, under his protection, advancing to a Domain is only a matter of time. Once Flabébé's Domain is formed, it will evolve.
Conversely, Phione cannot evolve into Manaphy simply because it cannot comprehend its Aura. Or rather, Manaphy's own Aura is special, preventing other Pokémon from comprehending it, which also prevents Phione from evolving into Manaphy. As a family mythical Pokémon, Manaphy instinctively passes on its inherent power to the next generation. However, if other Pokémon cannot comprehend this power, it limits Phione's growth and prevents it from evolving.
Ryan had the system scan Manaphy, and the results confirmed his thoughts. Manaphy's inherent Aura is: Ocean Leadership.
Only one dominant Pokémon is needed; if multiple Pokémon can comprehend this power, it would obviously create chaos. As for Kyogre, its inherent Aura is Ocean Creation, which is fundamentally different from Manaphy's power, but in terms of strength, it could easily defeat multiple Manaphy.
Having understood this, Ryan considered having the guild members capture a few Phione for experiments. Lillie expressed her support; after all, Manaphy was a lonely Pokémon, which she felt was very sad. If there were more Manaphy, they would be happier.
Lillie sent out the task via her laptop, unsure when it would be completed.
However, they were now on a small cruise ship, led by Manaphy, heading towards the depths of the ocean.
According to Hiromi, Samiya was actually hidden on the seabed, drifting with the ocean currents. Saying it was hidden was a bit inaccurate; rather, the energy barrier enveloping Samiya was the color of the seawater, making it undetectable. Only Manaphy's natural ability to find its way home could locate this sea temple that had been wandering in the ocean for an unknown amount of time.
Manaphy swam intermittently, and after a week, it floated on the surface, waving its little hands and calling out, "Lillie, Lillie."
Indeed, Lillie's care had taught Manaphy to speak. Well, it should be said that it was calling her by name.
Seeing Manaphy, Lillie said, "Manaphy found Samiya! It should be underwater!"
"Then let's get in the submarine and enter Samiya from underwater," Hiromi said.
Immediately afterward, Ryan and the others boarded the submarine and followed Manaphy into a protected space. Jack Walker emerged from the submarine, gazing at the magnificent structure before him, and exclaimed, "Is this Samiya? Is this really underwater? The wisdom of the ancient People of the Water is truly awe-inspiring!"
