Chapter 217 - Chapter 217: Flying-Type Master

Chapter 217: Flying-Type Master

"Pikachu, I'm counting on you." Ash recalled Latias and decisively sent out Pikachu.

Pikachu confidently ran into the arena, not intimidated by Darkrai at all, and Ash immediately had Pikachu use its electric technique. Pikachu instantly unleashed a large amount of electric arcs, which rapidly spread around the arena. Darkrai immediately ducked into the shadows, dodging Pikachu's attack.

However, the electric arcs lingered in the air, and although Darkrai could hide in the shadows, it wouldn't stay there for long. Ash patiently waited for Darkrai to reappear.

Finally, Darkrai couldn't stay in the shadows any longer and reluctantly emerged from Pikachu's shadow. Without a word, Pikachu used Iron Tail to send Darkrai flying towards the electric arcs. Darkrai was paralyzed by the arcs, and what awaited it was a giant Electro Ball from Pikachu, blasting Darkrai away.

However, Darkrai was no pushover. A Dark Void hit Pikachu directly, putting it to sleep.

"Wake up, Pikachu!" Ash called out.

Darkrai, enduring the paralysis, was about to use Dream Eater to restore its health. But Pikachu snapped awake at Ash's shout. A Thunderbolt then struck the already weakened Darkrai, instantly rendering it unable to battle.

"Darkrai is unable to battle! Ryan, please switch Pokémon!"

Ryan recalled Darkrai, took out another Poké Ball, and said, "Meloetta, I'm counting on you."

Meloetta entered the battle, floating gracefully. It smiled at Pikachu, then beckoned to it, indicating it could attack first.

"In that case, Pikachu, Iron Tail!" Ash called out.

Pikachu's tail instantly gleamed with a metallic sheen. Pikachu dashed forward, leaping and striking at Meloetta with its tail. Meloetta, seeing the Iron Tail hurtling towards it, took a deep breath and unleashed a deafening Hyper Voice!

Waves of sound rapidly assaulted Pikachu, who was painfully thrown from the air, clutching its ears and struggling to withstand the powerful attack. But Meloetta's Aura was sound; with its sustained breath, the sound waves came one after another, leaving Pikachu powerless to resist.

When Meloetta's breath waned and the sound subsided, Pikachu collapsed weakly to the ground. Although it hadn't lost its ability to battle, it was completely exhausted from the sonic assault and couldn't stand up.

"Come back, Pikachu," Ash decisively recalled Pikachu, who was now forced to rest inside its Poké Ball.

But as soon as it was recalled, Pikachu instantly emerged from the Poké Ball, slumping weakly at Ash's feet.

"You did very well, Pikachu. Now let's see how the other partners perform. Go, Moltres," Ash said, sending out his Moltres.

"Moltres, Heat Wave!" Ash shouted.

Moltres fiercely fanned out scorching waves of wind towards Meloetta. But Ryan chuckled: his Charizard had used this move before!

Meloetta also took a deep breath, and another deafening Hyper Voice resounded. Waves of sound collided with the Heat Wave, tearing it to shreds. At the same time, they directly struck Moltres, inflicting significant damage.

"Don't be afraid, Moltres, unleash your most powerful Hurricane!" Ash shouted.

Moltres faced Meloetta and flapped its wings powerfully, creating a devastating Hurricane that attacked Meloetta. The violent storm directly dispersed Meloetta's sound waves, while also blowing it away, inflicting significant damage.

The storm stopped, and Meloetta landed weakly. In the storm, it couldn't produce sound at all. Ryan was surprised: Ash's Moltres didn't master the Fire-type Aura, but instead mastered the Flying-type Aura, directly interrupting Meloetta's voice. Was he developing into a Flying-type master?

Considering Ash's Pokémon, he always caught the regional bird in every region, plus the favor of Ho-Oh. This was definitely heading towards becoming a Flying-type master. Was he going to become the next Flying-type specialist?

But since Meloetta couldn't use sound attacks, then it would just have to use physical attacks!

Meloetta clapped her hands twice, performed Relic Song, and transformed. A melodic wave shot towards Moltres. Moltres stirred up a violent Hurricane again, dispersing the sound wave before striking Meloetta.

But Meloetta had already transformed into her Pirouette Forme using Relic Song, launching herself directly into the storm while swinging her slender arms. Despite appearing delicate, Meloetta possessed immense strength in this form.

The force of her Close Combat pierced through the storm, and she shot towards Moltres. Before Moltres could react, Meloetta punched it in the face, knocking it down instantly. Moltres, somewhat bewildered, plummeted towards the ground, but encouraged by Ash, it spread its wings and soared into the air again.

Moltres unleashed a Flamethrower at Meloetta, but Meloetta, now in Pirouette Forme, was far more agile, easily dodging the attack. After several aerial maneuvers, it closed in again, throwing another punch.

But Moltres wouldn't fall for that again, flapping its wings fiercely with Hurricane, sending Meloetta flying and inflicting considerable damage. Meloetta, however, used Psychic to control Moltres and charged straight at it, launching a Close Combat.

While Fighting-type attacks are super effective against Moltres's Rock typing from Ancient Power, they still caused Moltres to cry out in pain.

"Moltres, break free! Overheat!" Ash shouted.

"Close Combat!" Ryan yelled.

Moltres burst into flames; Overheat temporarily unleashes maximum Fire-type power, making it incredibly devastating. The fiercely burning Moltres, carrying a desperate momentum, made its final charge towards Meloetta!

Meloetta, disregarding everything else, charged directly at Moltres for a final attack!

The two collided, creating a violent explosion in mid-air. Both Pokémon were blasted away, crashing heavily onto the ice, shattering the entire ice layer. This demonstrated the intensity of the collision. Looking at Meloetta and Moltres trapped in the ice, both Pokémon were unable to battle!

"Meloetta and Moltres are both unable to battle! Since both sides have lost three Pokémon, there will be a five-minute halftime break!"

With the referee's announcement, the first half of the match ended.
