Chapter 216 - Chapter 216: Suicune VS Flabébé

Chapter 216: Suicune VS Flabébé

After lunch, the finals of the Ever Grande Tournament officially began. Ryan and Ash walked out of the player tunnel and stepped onto the arena.

"Ryan, the final match is between us again," Ash said earnestly. "This time, I've mastered that power too, and I won't lose again!"

"Then, I'll be watching," Ryan said.

The images of Ryan and Ash appeared on the big screen, then the wheel spun, and the arena for the first half of the match was confirmed as the Water Field.

With the referee's starting announcement, Ryan and Ash sent out their starting Pokémon. Flabébé and Suicune appeared on the Water Field. Ryan glanced at Ash: Is this some kind of telepathic connection?

In the stands, Sapphire covered her mouth and exclaimed, "The first match is Suicune versus Flabébé? That's too extreme!"

"No, you should say they both thought of the same thing," Lillie shook her head and said, "Suicune and Flabébé are both second-tier legendary Pokémon, far surpassing the strength of their other Pokémon. They both wanted to send them out first so they could quickly defeat one or two of their opponent's Pokémon and weaken them. But since they both thought of the same thing, it'll be a fierce battle from the start."

As Lillie spoke, the match officially began in the arena.

"Hydro Pump!" Ash shouted.

"Petal Blizzard Defense, then give it back!" Ryan said.

Suicune unleashed a huge Hydro Pump at Flabébé without hesitation, but Flabébé also created a tornado made of dark petals, directly blocking Suicune's Hydro Pump. The petal tornado absorbed a large amount of water, forming high-speed rotating water blades that rushed towards Suicune.

Suicune let out a loud cry, and endless cold air instantly froze the entire space, successfully defending against Flabébé's Petal Blizzard.

"Tsk, if only it were raining or snowing," Ash said, looking at the frozen arena and the unscathed Flabébé.

Although Suicune knew Rain Dance, Ash knew it was unwise in this battle. First, it was a wasted move, and second, he knew that Ryan's Pokémon moves had wide coverage. If Suicune used Rain Dance, it would be countered by Flabébé's Sunny Day, wasting a move and giving the opponent an opening.

Ryan looked thoughtfully at Suicune, who had just used Sheer Cold. Flabébé then unleashed Moonblast, firing a huge energy ball at Suicune. Suicune opened its mouth and sprayed Hydro Pump to block the energy ball. However, it clearly felt that its Hydro Pump was no match for the Moonblast and quickly dodged to the side. The energy ball slammed into the frozen platform, shattering it into pieces.

But Suicune, true to its reputation as the embodiment of the North Wind, dodged the energy ball, its crystal ornament instantly glowing as it used Calm Mind to enhance its stats. It then unleashed a Hydro Pump at Flabébé.

Flabébé, seizing the opportunity, absorbed sunlight, unleashing a Solar Beam that shattered the Hydro Pump and blasted Suicune away.

In terms of type advantage, Flabébé's Fairy-type attacks completely outclassed Suicune's Water-type moves, but Suicune's defenses made it incredibly durable. It withstood a Solar Beam and then stood up as if nothing had happened, charging back into the battle.

Ash shouted, "Suicune, ignore it! Keep using Calm Mind to enhance your stats!"

Suicune nodded, its crystal ornament glowing brightly, and stood motionless on the ice. Flabébé then brandished its Eternal Flower, showering Suicune with Moonblasts.

"Suicune, keep using Calm Mind! Hang in there!" Ash cried.

As Ash shouted, Suicune continued its Calm Mind, its Special Attack and Special Defense rapidly increasing, and the damage from Flabébé's Moonblast was diminishing. Ryan gritted his teeth and said, "Give it the final Moonblast at full power!"

Flabébé nodded, and its Eternal Flower began gathering a massive amount of energy, a thick beam of energy engulfing Suicune.

Having used the attack at full power, Flabébé was violently propelled backward by the recoil, exhausted. Just as Ryan thought it was over, a chilling aura locked onto Flabébé, striking it with lightning speed. Flabébé was instantly frozen by Sheer Cold, unable to battle.

Ryan frowned, looking at Suicune. Although Suicune was panting, it hadn't fallen. Ryan was frustrated: It's that protagonist's luck again!

Before Ash could even rejoice, a large portion of the ice surface destroyed by the powerful Moonblast vanished, and many ice blocks were blasted into the sky. Just as Ash thought he had won the first battle, a huge ice block fell, directly crushing Suicune and rendering it unable to battle.

"Suicune and Flabébé are both unable to battle! Please switch Pokémon!" the referee announced.

Ryan smiled slightly: "So that's Flabébé's Calamity Aura at work." The feeling of being instantly overjoyed and then brought back to square one was evident in Ash's grim expression.

Ryan and Ash recalled Flabébé and Suicune, ending the first battle in a draw. The second battle began, and both players simultaneously threw out Poké Balls, revealing Latias and Darkrai on the field.

The audience was ecstatic: "Finally! A legendary Pokémon battle!"

Of course, in their eyes, Flabébé wasn't recognized as a legendary Pokémon, just an unusual Pokémon. And the legendary Pokémon battle would begin in the second match!

Seeing Latias, Ryan already knew he was going to win the second match: "Darkrai, Dark Void!"

Darkrai instantly submerged into the shadows of the ice surface, then emerged from Latias's shadow, creating a ball of dark energy in its hand and throwing it at Latias.

Latias released a Mist Ball around its body, hiding its figure within the mist, directly dodging Darkrai's Dark Void.

"Mist Ball? Will it work? Use Ominous Wind to blow it away!" Ryan said.

Darkrai waved its arms, creating a ghostly gale, directly blowing away the mist created by Latias's Mist Ball. But the unconvinced Latias immediately unleashed a Dragon Pulse on Darkrai, sending it flying. However, Darkrai also blended into the shadows, and when it reappeared, it was back in Latias's shadow. This time, Dark Void truly hit Latias.

"Latias, wake up!" Ash called out.

Ryan was also wary of Ash's protagonist power. If Ash really woke up Latias, he'd be in real trouble! Darkrai didn't hesitate and immediately used Dream Eater, entering Latias's body. When it emerged, Latias was already unable to battle.

"Latias is unable to battle! Ash, please switch Pokémon!"
