I smile at the blonde in front of me, and she smiles back. She's the most fertile of the pack, the one most likely to give me healthy pups, the perfect woman for someone like me. That's why I agreed to take her without hesitation, so that everything could be done as quickly as possible. I don't want to waste time on ridiculous things like courtship or the honeymoon.
"What do you think, Alpha Moonstone?" Mr. River asks me. "She's the most beautiful of my daughters."
"Yes, definitely, I nod, looking at her again.
But it's not perfect. It doesn't smell the way I'd like, but all the tests came back clear, so there shouldn't be any problems conceiving my heir.
"When are you planning the wedding?" he asks me, restless and anxious. "Remember we agreed
"The day after tomorrow," I reply. "First thing tomorrow morning, my fiancee and I will leave."

"What?" Mr. River frowns. "Wait, but it's too soon. Isn't the wedding coming first and...?"
-The wedding will be held at my residence, but it won't be a social event. Due to the current situation, we can't afford to have crowds.
My words leave them both silent, one that doesn't bother me, to tell the truth.
My future wife seems disappointed. From what I heard, she was already making plans for a lavish wedding, with the best dress and bookings at the best beauty salons in town.
"Yes, I understand, Alpha," Mr. River says with resignation. "What can you do?"
"You don't have to worry about anything," I assure them. "Silvana will have.
"My name is Susan, Silvana is my younger sister," my fiancee clarifies, trying not to sound angry, although she can't hide it.
"Susan, I corrected her without looking at her, "you won't go without and you'll have everything you want. It's just that now I must assume my new responsibilities."
"Responsibilities you already handled. Mr. River smiles. "Not to belittle Alpha Solar, may he rest in peace, but he didn't command the same respect you did."
1 give him a modest smile, one that hides the pleasure his words give me. The veneration of the people is a glorious thing, something I wrested from Alpha Solar before helping him leave the earthly world. While I recognize the absurdity of pursuing power, I don't care. As long as everything is in its place and I can control it as I please, I am capable of anything.
After all, it's the only happiness I can allow myself in life.
"I've always thought about what's best for our community," I shrug, "and that will continue to be the case. That's why we can't have a grand ceremony."
-I understand perfectly.
Her daughter doesn't. She remains in an uncomfortable, silent position, because she expects a severe reprimand if she tries to protest.
-Okay, then we're all in agreement.
I stand up from my seat and extend my hand toward my future father-in-law, who awkwardly rises to reciprocate the gesture. Noticing the creaking of the bones in his hands. I regain mv strength.

"I'm going to rest, I tell her, glancing at my fiancée, who is still lost in her thoughts.
"He's only worried about the wedding, I think mockingly.
The two of them say goodbye to me, and I retreat to my room, where a sweet gift from the River family awaits me. I know it's not her, that she's just a simple servant, but I see
her.
I don't know why, and I don't regain consciousness until the next morning, when I find myself with what little remains. No one blames me or mentions the matter, but I do question myself.
Why can't I control myself when I see her, instead of just imagining her? I guess I'll just have to accept it.
Our departure takes place after breakfast. Susan is already more animated after | mentioned the large wardrobe that awaits her.
As we leave, hand in hand, the employees applaud us and pay their respects. I find the whole mess appalling, and I'll put an end to it as soon as I can, but for now, I'm willing to
Put up with it.
There are more important matters to attend to, like going back and seeing with my own eyes that everything is okay.
I need to know that Raisa is still in her place so I can stay in mine.
