"Wait—wait! Where the hell are you going?!" Sho shouted, or at least he thought he did. In reality, no sound came out. He didn't even realize he was completely mute.
> Telepathy synchronizing: Host is dying. System is… byeing 👋 👋.
"...What the hell?! You bastard, you're abandoning me right after showing up? If you'd have come a little earlier, maybe I could've survived!"
> System is not at fault. System requires time to fully activate. Host was too careless and is now dying. Therefore, System bids farewell.
"Wait!....Okay, fine—it's my fault! But at least save me, damn it! Give me a chance to get revenge!"
> System apologizes. System cannot intervene directly. Rewards can only be given after missions are completed. System cannot withdraw rewards on its own.
"Come on, dude! You're supposed to be the strongest being in the entire universe—no, in the whole damn multiverse! What are people gonna think when they hear that your host died without even getting one reward? Think about your reputation, man!"
> ...System agrees. System will suffer humiliation, System will be bullied by other system, I will be called loser.
"Ye..yes..that's what i am talking about"
> System Overdrive… Failed.
> System Overdrive… Failed.
> System Overdrive… Success.
A sudden burst of bright blue light surrounded the area, swallowing Sho's crumbling body. In the next moment, he was gone.
He appeared in a place that looked like the inside of a spaceship—small lights blinking everywhere, buttons covering the panels, and a giant screen dominating the front. Sho glanced down, only to realize he wasn't even in a human form anymore. He looked like… a glowing light bulb. Or maybe a floating ball of light.
Right in front of him, the system screen hovered. And oddly enough, it was staring at another screen, like a screen looking at a screen.
Sho confused at what the system was doing.
He asked "Uh… what are you doing?"
> "System is searching for a compatible body in which the host can be transferred to."
"Ohhh! Then pick a good one," Sho said with a hint of amusement.
> "Compatible body found. Name: Megan Pox. Age: forty. Female. Currently in a coma and will expire soon. Transferring host."
Sho froze. "Wait… WHAT?!"
The glowing ball practically vibrated in panic. "A forty-year-old woman?! Dude, no! I want a man's body! A body with a dick!"
> "Host is being too choosy. At this rate, host may perish."
"Too choosy?! There are billions of people out there and you're giving me a forty-year-old woman?"
> "System cannot pick freely. Protocols must be followed. Transfer can only occur where fate allows."
Sho groaned. "Fine, fine! At least find a male body. Please. Please…"
> "Searching…"
Hearing that, Sho calmed a little. Then he noticed something to his left: a massive countdown ticking down.
45… 44… 43…
"…Uh, what's the countdown for?" Sho asked carefully.
> "If a suitable body is not found before time runs out, host will permanently cease to exist."
If Sho had a mouth, he would've choked on his own saliva.
Time was slipping away fast. Every second that ticked by made Sho panic even more. He kept asking the system if it had found a body yet, but all he heard back was the same damn word over and over: Searching...
There were only 15 seconds left now. Sho could feel his heart pounding in his chest… except he didn't even have one anymore.
> Compatible body found: Sho Yamato. Age 17. Gender: Male. Currently dying. Transferring host...
"Sho Yamato??? does DxD have a version of me in this world?"
Before he could process that, his eyes suddenly shot open. The first thing he saw was a night sky full of stars.
He tried to sit up but it felt like something massive was pressing down on him, like he was benching 100kg without warm-up.
He pushed hard with both hands until he finally managed to sit up.
Huff… huff…
"This time… no mistakes like last time," Sho muttered, forcing himself to calm down. He shut his eyes again, trying to feel out the memories of this new body. It came naturally this time, unlike the last where they hit him while he was literally falling apart.
The name was Sho Yamato. Just like his previous life. Unlike the usual cliché, this guy had both parents alive—no tragic orphan backstory. A normal family: mom, dad, and a little sister two years younger than him. His mom and dad both are Japanese, His dad a dentist by profession.
As for his personal life… in short, he was fat. Not chubby. Fat. Sumo-level fat. And because of that, he got bullied a lot. Things got even worse when he transferred to a new school. A few days ago, he begged his parents to let him change schools, and they agreed. Yesterday, he officially became a second-year student at Kuoh Academy. Currently, it's spring break, and classes will start in around 3 week and also his first day.
The real shock came when he learned that Kuoh Academy was originally a girl's school and had only recently gone co-ed. That meant the majority of its students were girls. And he was fat. Which meant more bullying and way more embarrassment. His brain practically short-circuited on the spot.
Nervous as hell, he went out for a walk to cool down, ended up in a park… and then a monster with way too many teeth attacked him probably some kind of stray devil.
It killed him easily, tried to eat him, but then suddenly stopped, muttering in disgust that he was too oily to eat.
"This body is really too fat…" Sho muttered, opening his eyes again as he touched his belly. The thick folds of fat overlapped each other beneath his fingers.
Trying to stand up felt like squatting with 200 lbs on his back, but he managed to get to his feet somehow.
"System, are you there?" Sho called out.
> Yes, Host. I am here.
A blue screen appeared in front of him.
"What kind of system are you? How do you give rewards?" Sho asked curiously.
> The system provides gacha rolls based on the number of tickets the Host has. Tickets can be obtained by completing randomly assigned missions. Rewards are divided into Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary categories. Legendary rewards are further divided into S, S+, SS, SS+, and SSS tiers.
"Hmm… I see. Do you have drop rate percentages for the legendary rewards?"
> Common: 85%
Rare: 10%
Epic: 4%
Legendary: 1%
"Wtf… I expected the legendary drop rate to be low, but 1%? That could take months… no, maybe years!" Sho muttered in disbelief.
> Host is overthinking. With good luck, you might draw Legendary rewards continuously.
"Do you want to bet on that?" Sho asked narrowing his eyes.
> I don't like betting.
Furthermore, the Host has been penalized.
"Penalized?!"
> Yes. For assisting the Host without a mission, the system has placed penalties on the first twenty Legendary rewards you obtain. After the twentieth, all Legendary rewards will be normal.
"Penalties… on Legendary rewards?! What kind of penalties?"
> It could be of any kind, depending on the reward.
Sho was clearly not pleased. Bluntly speaking, the system was straight-up nerfing him.
'Don't tell me this was all planned by the system… first let me almost die, then save me, and now throw me into Kuoh? The exact place where the original plot starts… No way this is coincidence. This damn system planned it all!'
Sho clenched his fists. His name being the same as in his previous life, ending up in the town where the main character Issei existed… there was no way this wasn't scripted. Everything screamed "It was all part of my plan."
But then, he smirked.
'It doesn't matter… if this plot was written by the system or anybody else. I'll conquer it. I'll come out on top'
'If system is using me then i will allow him to use me since i will get rewards '
"Oink… oinkk… oinkk…"
The sound slipped out of his mouth as he laughed.
Sho froze. His eyes widened. What the hell was that sound?
"Hey! Seems like a pig's roaming the park! Someone get it out before it dirties the place!" a random voice shouted in the distance.
A random voice shouted in the distance.
Sho froze. His entire body trembled. Then his face twisted in rage.
"...These bastards…"
Before he even realized, he started running. He didn't know why, but his body moved on its own. Maybe instinct? Maybe anger? He didn't care.
> Host, your neck contains a large amount of fat blocking the airway. When you laugh with your mouth wide open, the sound you produce is similar to a pig.
"I didn't ask you!" Sho snapped, voice cracking with frustration. He already knew what they were implying, and hearing the system explain it like some medical fact only pissed him off more.
"Look! The pig is running on two legs now!"
Sho whipped his head toward the sound, his eyes burning with rage. Two legs? That wasn't a mistake. That was deliberate. They were mocking him, bluntly calling him a pig.
This wasn't just an insult. This was bullying.
> Host, due to the surrounding atmosphere and low visibility, you currently resemble a pig in the dark. Anyone passing by would definitely mistake you for one.
"THIS… FUCKING… BASTARD!!!"
Sho's rage exploded. He skidded to a stop around the corner, chest heaving as if he'd just run a marathon—when in reality, he'd barely covered ten meters. His heart pounded in his ears, his legs burned, and on top of that, the system was out here roasting him for no reason, throwing useless explanations like salt on his wound.
> Mission for Host:
Objective: Run and reach your home.
Reward: Three gacha tickets.
Sho's face lit up instantly. "Finally! Something good came out of your mouth!" he exclaimed, a grin breaking through the frustration.
He took off running—or at least, what he considered running. To anyone else, it would've looked like a sluggish power walk. His house was about ten to fifteen minutes away for a normal person, but for him…? It was closer to an hour. By the time he stumbled onto his street, he'd taken twenty breaks and was drenched in sweat. His T-shirt was gone entirely, thrown away halfway after being soaked in blood from earlier.
"Phew… finally…" he panted, staring up at the building in front of him. A typical Japanese-style house with modernity mixed, fairly big and neatly built.
A nervous laugh escaped his lips. "Why the hell am I nervous? It's my house…"
He slapped his cheeks lightly and muttered to himself, "Alright Sho, don't be nervous, don't be nervous… just go in."
Taking a deep breath, he stepped up to the door and pressed the bell.
Ding dong…
The door opened with a soft click, revealing a woman with brown hair and gentle, ordinary features. She looked to be around thirty-five. This was Ayaka Fujimoto—Sho Yamato's mother.
"Sho! Where have you been? And what happened to your clothes? You're sweating so much—are you okay?" Ayaka's voice was full of worry as she immediately reached out, pulling a small cloth from her apron to wipe his forehead.
"I-I was just… taking a little jog to lose some weight," Sho said nervously, forcing a smile.
"Jogging?!" Ayaka's eyes widened in shock.
For a second, she just stared, then her lips curled into a soft smile she couldn't hide. "Okay, son… go and take a bath quickly. You smell really bad."
Her words sounded harsh, but the warmth in her tone was unmistakable. She was happy. Happy that her shut-in son had gone outside for a excercise first time in so long.
Sho didn't wait around. He slipped past her, heart pounding, and hurried up to the second floor. His room was there.
> Mission completed
As he opened the door, the faint smell of cleaning detergent hit his nose. The room was fairly clean, far cleaner than what his memories told him. In his memories, this room was always a mess—instant noodle packets stacked in the corner, trash littered around. His mother would come in every day to clean after him.
Sho stood there for a moment, looking around in silence. From the scene alone, it was clear: this was a loving mom… and a son who had drowned himself in bad habits.
A determined spark lit in his eyes.
'But that changes now. I… Sho Yamato from another world, will turn this Sho Yamato into the perfect son or maybe at least won't create unnecessary trouble'
Some minutes later, Sho stood completely naked in front of the bathroom mirror after his bath. He stared at the reflection in silence his looks round fat ball like head with black hair and eyes.
Yep. It was ugly. No sugarcoating it, no fake motivational line like "you're good as you are." Nope. This body was not good.
His gaze drifted lower… and his heart broke a second time.
"…It's so small…" he whispered. It was so tiny he couldn't even wrap his palm around it—only his fingers.
Sho clenched his fists and tilted his head back dramatically. "I miss… the Destroyer…" he wept, paying silent respect to his fallen soldier from his previous body.
After giving one last mental salute, he sighed and got dressed and sat on bed, his eyes landing on the floating system screen. Three gacha tickets shimmered at the corner.
"How do I use these?" Sho asked.
> Just say: It's gacha time.
Sho raised his hand like a hero about to unleash his ultimate move and repeated, "It's gacha time!"
With a loud CLUNK, a massive gacha machine materialized in front of him, complete with a shiny handle and a glass chamber.
> Host can select whether he wants to use all three tickets at once or one by one.
Sho didn't even hesitate. "All at once." Everyone knew single pulls were trash. If you wanted luck, you went all-in.
He grabbed the small handle and yanked it down. The machine roared to life, spinning violently before spitting out three glowing golden balls. With a soft ding, the machine vanished, leaving the balls hovering in the air.
> The rewards are inside the balls.
Sho picked one up. The shell cracked easily under his fingers, and with a flash of light, three items materialized on the floor before him.
> Congratulations, Host! You have won:
– Neighbor's Aunt's Panty (Common)
Use: Can be used to sniff.
– Lighter (Common)
Use: Can be used to create a fire.
– Iron Sword (Common)
Use: Cut your enemies.
Sho stared at the items. Then at the system screen. Then back at the items.
His jaw dropped. His brain froze.
"…What…the actual…fuck?"
Sho held up the pink panty between his fingers, staring at it with a deadpan expression. "For the record… I'm not a pervert," he muttered. "This is purely for investigation purposes."
He brought it closer and took a cautious sniff.
Sniffffff…
"…Smells like… oranges?" he said blankly before tossing the panty straight into the dustbin without a second thought. The lighter and the iron sword were placed carefully in the corner of the room.
"Wow. These rewards are really the worst. I guess I'll just save up at least ten tickets before drawing again. Maybe then I'll actually get something good…" Sho muttered under his breath, clearly unimpressed but powerless to do anything about it.
"By the way, System, don't I have something like an inventory to store my rewards?"
> Host can obtain an inventory as a reward… if he's lucky.
Sho let out a long sigh. "Figures…"
"Sho! Come down, dinner is ready!"
Hearing his mother's voice, Sho dragged himself downstairs. At the dining table sat a tall man with black hair and sharp black eyes behind a pair of spectacles—his father ENDO YAMATO. He looked to be around 5'11, giving off a calm but strict aura.
Beside him sat a girl who resembled their mother, her soft brown hair falling just above her shoulders. She was about 5'5, slightly shorter than Sho's current 5'7 frame. His little sister Mio Yamato.
Dinner passed quietly. Sho kept stealing glances, taking in the scene. A normal family dinner… something he hadn't experienced in his previous life.
After finishing his meal, he returned to his room, changed, and began stretching. "Alright… time for a minimum home workout before sleep."
> Daily Mission Assigned:
– 100 Push-ups
– 100 Pull-ups
– 100 Squats
– 5 km Running
Reward for daily completion: 2 Gacha Tickets.
Sho's eyes widened. "Whoa… that's good! Wait… only two tickets? Seriously?" He frowned, remembering how he'd gotten three tickets just for running home earlier.
"…Whatever." He shook his head and brushed it off, dropping down to start his first set of push-ups.
