(The phone rings: "Ring, ring, ring")
Mintra: "Hello, you little rascal! Calling Mom means it must be something urgent, right?"
Noona: "Yes, Mom... I was wondering if you could make some Green Curry with rice noodles and some 'Gaeng Aom'. A friend from my university days is coming to visit me in Bangkok."
Mintra: (Sounding delighted) "Really? That's great! You go pick up your friend, and Mom will have the food ready for you here."
Noona: "Thank you, Mom. I'll go get her now."
Mintra: "Okay... drive safe, dear."
(Noona hangs up, smiling to herself.)
Flashback to 15 Years Ago
Fifteen years ago, Mintra was a frail child. She was often sick and had to change schools frequently. Reading books gave her severe headaches that made her feel like her brain would explode. Her parents decided to move her to a small village in the mountains for the fresh air.
There, she met Noona, a girl from a poor family who was nonetheless an exceptional student. Noona understood Mintra's struggles. She not only helped her but also found new ways for her to learn that didn't require memorization or complex formulas, allowing Mintra to study without pain.
With Noona's help, Mintra miraculously managed to graduate with a bachelor's degree. But soon after, Noona had to leave suddenly following the death of her grandmother, Yai Plaew. The two lost contact for many years.
Until yesterday, when fate brought them back together through Facebook. They chatted for a long time, and finally, their old friendship was renewed with a plan to meet at Mintra's house.
