"Open fire!" one of Eckus's men roared, panic bleeding into his command.
The mall erupted again with gunfire. BANG! BANG! BANG! Dozens of bullets screamed toward me from every direction.
But none reached their mark.
The projectiles froze inches away, hanging in the air like a deadly halo. The crowd shrieked, some dropping to their knees, others running for their lives. The sound of ricochets never came—only silence and disbelief.
I clenched my fist. The suspended bullets shattered into sparks of light before dissolving into nothing. Gasps filled the hall.
Eckus's body trembled as he floated higher, his face purple under the crushing grip of my unseen force. His men faltered, their courage crumbling.
"I did nothing to you," I hissed, my voice reverberating across the glass walls, heavy with grief and wrath. My eyes locked on Eckus as tears streaked my face.
"You killed my friend… my family in this city."
The lights flickered. A deep vibration rattled through the marble floor.
"A life for a life," I declared, my words slicing through the terrorized silence. "Blood will erase your clan from this world."
The final sound was the sickening crack of bone as Eckus's scream ended forever.
