"Nunna… you've come at last."
Her chest tightened as if invisible chains had wrapped around her ribs. That voice—tender, yearning, unforgettable—was the same one that had once called her name beneath the starlight of another life.
Yet now, it seeped from the shadows.
The air grew colder, carrying the scent of damp earth and withered incense. From the crumbling walls of the temple, darkness stretched and coiled, shaping itself into a form half-familiar, half-unnatural. For a moment, the flicker of torchlight revealed eyes she had loved long ago—warm, gentle, and filled with sorrow.
Her lips trembled.
"…It can't be. You died. I saw your body with my own eyes."
The shadow's mouth curved into a faint, tragic smile.
"Death could not sever what we were, Nunna. My soul has waited… bound here, between realms. For you."
A shiver ran down her spine. Part of her wanted to reach out, to touch that silhouette, to believe this was a miracle of love defying death. But another part whispered a warning—love could not bring the dead back without a price.
The temple doors groaned as the wind howled, carrying voices not of the living. The shadows thickened, some reaching toward her like pleading hands. She staggered back, torn between terror and longing.
If this was truly him… then what had he become?
