HISD Chapter 100 Steppenwolf Descends?
A silver alien warship sped through the void of space.
"Approaching the Mother Box's signal coordinates."
"I see it."
The reply rumbled deep and strong from the captain's chair.
Steppenwolf, towering over two meters, rose with his massive metal battle-axe in one hand. Beneath his silver-scaled armor, his gray eyes narrowed, staring out the viewport at a beautiful blue planet reflected within them.
Just then—
The control console beeped again, as though receiving another message.
"Another emergency transmission from the Mother Box!" a Parademon screeched in its guttural tongue.
Steppenwolf's expression lit with joy, and he demanded eagerly, "What is it? A location? A report?"
"N-no…" the Parademon stammered in confusion. "It's a warning. It says we must retreat immediately. Do not approach the planet emitting the signal!"
"What?!" Steppenwolf froze, stunned by the absurdity.
The Parademon's voice rose in fear. "The Mother Box says this place is… extremely dangerous. No hope. Only destruction! It… it's coming for us!"
It? Who did the Mother Box mean? A Green Lantern? A Kryptonian? Some native being of the planet?
Before Steppenwolf could think further, his gray pupils contracted in alarm. Outside the viewport, a figure streaked closer from the distance.
A black-clad, bone-spiked monster.
Its body was sculpted with perfect Kryptonian musculature, clad in the black suit of Superman's emblem of hope. Bone spikes jutted from its limbs and back, lending a savage edge. Its face was like a pale skull mask, eyes blazing with burning red flames of destruction.
Hope and destruction. Majesty and monstrosity. This was a being of pure ruin.
And in its left hand—he held the Mother Box.
At that instant, the bone-spiked monster became a dark meteor, accelerating even faster toward the warship.
"Stop it!!" Steppenwolf roared, realizing the creature's intent too late.
Whoosh!
The silver warship's defenses activated, unleashing blazing energy cannons that could shatter small moons.
But Yi Meng, as Ancient Doomsday, only grinned. Lightning sparked over his dark suit, and he hurled himself straight into the beams without hesitation.
The cosmic blasts stalled him only a fraction before he burst through, transformed into a streak of golden-red radiance.
"No!!"
Steppenwolf charged forward with his axe, but he was powerless. The flaming figure of destruction crashed headlong into the warship.
In the silent darkness of space—
BOOM!
The monster pierced the entire vessel, from bow to stern, detonating wave after wave of lightning and fire. The warship split apart, exploding into a colossal bloom of light and wreckage.
The legion of Parademons was annihilated in an instant.
Only one figure, clutching his battle-axe, was flung from the explosion, plummeting along with burning debris toward the blue planet below.
Falling.
Through raging winds and heat, Steppenwolf tumbled into Earth's atmosphere. He twisted desperately, his armor scorched, his bloodshot eyes filled with fury.
How could he not rage?
That warship and its army had conquered countless worlds across the cosmos. And now, all gone—before even reaching their target.
Red-eyed, Steppenwolf gripped his thunder-axe, channeling every ounce of strength into one desperate strike as his foe closed in.
Lightning surged along the blade as he swung backward. The axe cleaved across the monster's neck.
But instead of flesh, the blade struck like against the hardest metal of Apokolips. The shock reverberated back, numbing his hand.
The lightning crawled harmlessly across the monster's armor and bone.
From the creature's throat came a low, disdainful sigh.
Enough.
Yi Meng, in his Doomsday form, still held the Mother Box in his left hand. With his right, he seized Steppenwolf by the neck and dragged him down in a plummet.
…
Australia.
The sky split. Mountains crumbled beneath their descent, collapsing into a massive crater. A storm of dust and heat swept outward, tearing the land apart.
At the center of the pit, golden lightning crackled.
Steppenwolf lay broken in the earth, his armor shattered at the throat where Yi Meng's clawed hand pressed him down.
Shocked and enraged, Steppenwolf roared, "I am of Apokolips—"
SMACK!
Yi Meng's massive hand backhanded him, almost tearing the helmet from his head and twisting his skull aside.
Apokolips?
Steppenwolf screamed, humiliated and in pain. "I am a New God—"
CRACK!
Yi Meng stomped down, crushing his chest. The ground quaked and sank further, the silver-scaled armor screeching like it mourned.
A New God?
Yi Meng's glowing red eyes narrowed. With one fist, he pounded Steppenwolf's head into the earth again and again, shattering his face, breaking a horn. Blood and dust sprayed with each blow.
Steppenwolf tried to resist, but under Yi Meng's weight, he was nothing more than prey.
Broken and beaten, he bellowed in despair, "The great Lord of Darkness… will avenge me!"
Yi Meng's eyes erupted in scarlet fire. Twin beams of heat vision slashed down, searing a gaping wound through Steppenwolf's chest and armor.
The Lord of Darkness?
Then Yi Meng would be the Lord of Destruction.
He seized Steppenwolf by the leg, lifting the towering warrior like a broken hammer, slamming him again and again into the earth until the mountain range collapsed into a canyon soaked in blood.
Dangling upside down, battered and bleeding, Steppenwolf finally understood.
The Mother Box had warned them for a reason.
This world—seemed to wear the emblem of hope, but its true essence was only annihilation.
"Kill me…" Steppenwolf croaked, limp and broken, begging for death. At least then, perhaps Darkseid could resurrect him one day.
But the monster that had slaughtered his army and humiliated him finally spoke.
"Want to die? No. You'll live."
Yi Meng's eyes burned brighter as his voice rumbled low and cruel.
"Until the day your so-called Lord arrives."
