What was once a weekly adventure to the city soon became daily, as Meditat traveled to the city every evening with the intention of spending the speed putting an end to any assault he could intervene on, and save as many innocents as he could find in danger.
Meditat would glide out of the campus with relative ease due to the height of his dorm room, which became his launching point. A combination of his stabilizers and thrusts made it easy for him to reach the roads outside the college gates, where there was an abundance of pods already driving, with many of them having their destination being the city.
He'd pull himself towards pod after pod, throwing himself forwards before pushing himself with his boots. Following the flow leading to the city, he'd pull himself to the highest lanes of the traffic, staying above the pods to maneuver with more space.
Meditat would swing down the highway, using both hands to pull himself towards pods far in front of him, easily flying past the already fast vehicles below him. The city would grow closer as he'd approach, the skyscrapers beginning to light up as the day drew to night.
He'd eventually arrive at the city, finally being able to swing from the city's vast supply of buildings and skyscrapers. He'd reach greater heights and begin scouting the city, no longer requiring the Zprints Enterprise building to jump off of, as he already would've built impressive momentum by the time of passing the city borders.
Meditat's blue eyes would survey the city as he'd continue pulling himself through the city, waiting for a target to take on.
First and foremost, Meditat would locate active crimes simply by taking paths around the city and trying to listen or look for signs of abnormal activity, which he'd then investigate for the chances of it being caused by an Exhuman.
It wasn't a perfect method, as he'd sometimes find himself rushing to what he'd initially think was a crime in progress, but only find children chasing each other by the townhouses in games of tag, or people putting on holographic light shows that he'd mistake as explosions.
However, he'd eventually come across a true attack, with one instance being when he noticed a deafening scream come from a few blocks away, which he speedily investigated for the source of the unusual sound, finding it to originate from a bar called the 'Castin Bar.'
It was easy for him to confirm that it was the location, as there was a flood of people sprinting out, screaming for their lives as if they had just experienced terror.
While everyone from the bar ran out, Meditat walked in, his fists closed as he focused on the task at hand. He walked through the open door, only to find a wrecked bar, with tables and seats thrown everywhere. Shards of glass were littered all over the floor, and there were still people inside, hiding behind tables and walls, hoping that somehow they'd survive being trapped.
Meditat first surveys the room with his eyes until coming across a woman who stands in front of the bar, staring angrily at the wall that once held expensive bottles. He then looks to see a scared bartender on the other side of the bar, sitting down and shutting his ears, fearing for his life.
Meditat turns his attention back to the woman, who appears to be wearing an unzipped short jacket with a crop top underneath.
He breathes heavily for a few moments, trying to analyze the chaos before taking his first step.
Meditat speaks out loud, his voice altered to disguise his own, and give it a more intimidating mature voice while he was at it: "Who are you, and what are you doing?"
The woman turns to notice Meditat, who seems to be breathing heavily, her hair in a complete mess. Her eyebrow raises as she is confused at who she was looking at, and asks instead: "Who are you with your universe ranger costume?"
Meditat sighs, and he aims his hand up at her, ready to blast her backwards if need be. However, he first answers, "It's a power suit, and the name is Meditat. Why are you destroying this innocent establishment?"
The woman groans as if annoyed, and she complains, "Well, 'Meditat,' these people here wouldn't let me go in front of the line and get my wine for free, instead they forced me to wait in the back of the line. See, these people don't know how to treat an Exhuman, nor a woman. So I gave them a piece of my mind. Continue bothering me, and I'll do the same to you!"
Meditat's eyes glow brighter for a moment, and he argues, "You have no higher privilege over others just because of your fancy abilities. You're very much human, let me show you."
The woman's eyes contract to a glare, and she growls in anger. She then opens her mouth, and screams at the top of her lungs, which somehow blasts Meditat backwards from the sheer intensity, causing him to slam into the wall.
Meditat groans as he tries to stand back up, feeling hot liquid from his ears, as he realizes he is bleeding. He takes a deep breath, and stands up straight, not backing down as easily.
Orial speaks to Meditat through his Connect, "I believe the microphone damaged, couldn't register sound just now."
Meditat sighs, and he responds, "Well, let's hope it's not broken. Pick up what you can, I'll end this fight quickly."
He then leaps for the left, causing the woman to scream in that direction, however before she can catch him, he pulls himself towards the bar table, evading the blast of the attack.
While he did manage to escape from the blast, he still feels his ears pain even more, as it seems the damage didn't require a direct hit. He had to end the fight soon before the rest of the civilians would become permanently deaf.
Meditat lands on the bar table, and he then leaps at the woman, who then turns his way, which concerns him, as he was once more in her line of sight.
The woman screams again, and all Meditat could do is bring his arms in front of his face, hoping for the best. His body then shoots backwards, and slams straight into the wall, where the rack that once held the bottles were.
Meditat groans in pain, and he slides to the floor, his back aching. He stands on his feet again, trying to not back down, however his whole body hurts.
He looks back at the woman, and starts climbing over the bar, ready to take her on again.
The woman's eyes widens, and she tries to yell again, however she immediately stops and puts her hand on her throat, as if it hurts. She groans, and then says "Dammit, I can't keep going. I'm getting out of here before you can catch me, not like you could if you wanted to. I'm leaving a one star review at this place, the management is horrible!"
She then turns around and runs off, leaving the bar, as she was done with her attack.
Meditat finishes climbing over the bar table, only to find that she has escaped, and he groans tiredly.
He turns back to the bartender, who is still hiding behind the table, and says, "Well, at least she's gone now. Sorry that I wasn't able to stop her, I hope your ears aren't too damaged."
He waits patiently for a response, but after a long ten seconds, the only response he gets from the other side of the table is a confused "What?"
Meditat sighs, as he was unable to bring down the Exhuman, with the most he did being chasing her off. His suit was unable to withstand the blasts, and according to Orial, even his Connect was damaged during the battle, something he had actually owned that wasn't his own creation, which was worrisome.
While he could always deal with damages to his suit, he couldn't let valuable products such as his Connect be destroyed in battle, as that would greatly affect his life as a whole, not just his time in the city.
He couldn't afford to bring the Connect into battle if it would be so vulnerable, however he needed it for Orial to follow him, something he couldn't give up. He had to find a way to bring Orial along with him without bringing the device that housed him, and he also had to work on his suit's resistance to such attacks, as he was thrown around with ease.
Meditat groans again as his back ached again, reminding him also to add more protection to his back, which he hardly had thought of.
He runs for the door, exclaiming "The assault is over, you're clear to evacuate," hoping that the civilians would actually hear him. He then runs out of the bar, and pulls himself up towards a building, flying back up into the sky to continue fighting, as he couldn't let his loss stop him completely.
