Chapter 3 - Scanning A Gateway!

Legion hummed excitedly as he strode out of his dorm, leaving the clone to battle with the dirty room.

The door squeaked slighly before sliding shut as he walked through the corridor of the first-year living quarters. He entered the Elevator and it seemlessly floated him to the buttom floor making Legion feel as though he was floating in air itself.

He had already gotten used to sleeping on air therefore he wasn't shocked by this.

As he walked out, he saw several students moving about like headless chickens, heading to their next lectures or training sessions.

Legion ignored them as he walked excitedly to his destination.

"Is that… the real Legion?" a girl with a high ponytail muttered to her friend as she glanced at Legion.

He had somewhat became popular amongst the first year as the genius who turned trash and of course even more so for his Clone.

"No way. Look, he's actually smiling. It's creepy," her friend replied as she glanced at him. "The clone always looked like a robot that's run out of batteries."

"He's probably finally cracked," another student chimed in, laughing. "Three months of hiding in his room after that disaster of an awakening? I'm surprised it took this long. He's probably heading to the cafeteria to finally eat real food instead of nutrient paste."

Legion heard them all but sneered coldly in his head. A month ago, their words might have some effect but now, their words couldn't affect him in the slightest.

Moreover, he was currently busy and his entire focus was to Scan a dimensional portal.

He ignored them as his speed increased.

The university was incredibly beautiful with massive buildings shooting to the skies. There were even several mountains in the distance with incredible buildings with astonishing designs built on them.

At the center of the academy was a Genetic Radiation Tower, that seemed like a pillar connecting the skies to the earth.

The Genetic radiation Tower generates constant streams of genetic energy that surged through the entire academy. Even an ordinary person could awaken if they stated here for a decade.

As new students, their dorm was at the corner of the University, far away from the Tower. The senior year students lived in quarters closer to the Genetic Tower, making them stronger.

While there were several training rooms filled with concentrated amount of genetic energy, they required incredible amounts of gene points to rent and that for a period of time.

As Legion walked past the streets, he saw two colossal statue of a six-winged Gryphon, their beak open in a silent scream as they stood at the entrance of the library.

He also saw another building where the stairs were made of the spine of a leviathan-class sea serpent.

As he walked, he saw fountains pouring water from the mouths of a multi-headed hydras.

They weren't there just for designs, they were placed there intentionally .

Each statue exuded a faint pressure of the creature when it was still alive.

The academy had placed them intentionally, so the student would get used to the terrifying aura of dimensional beasts.

Most first-years would subconsciously drift away from the statue or if they had no choice would walk with a slight hunch.

Legion, however, was too excited at this moment to feel anything.

He walked past a fifty-foot-tall statue of a Bloodfiend Ape and then arrived at his destination.

Before him stood a massive, building that was over fifty-meter-high. It was made of pure gamma-steel with no single windows in sight but a large entrance.

This was one of the gateway to the university's controlled dimensional zones, the Dimensional Gateway Administration.

Several senior students walked in and out of the hall.

On their chests were badges, two for second-years, three for third-years students.

They were all putting on a sleek, combat gear that resembled high-tech swimwear.

The compulsory Type 1 suits, like the ones they wore were compulsory for anyone who wishes to enter a dimensional zone.

They could absorb the kinetic energy of a blow and disperse it into the ground, drastically reducing the risk of broken bones and internal injuries.

Legion knew from his predecessor's memories that higher-level suits were practically legendary. A Type 2 could store absorbed shock and release it in a devastating counter-attack. Type 3 and 4 suits were even more rare and are capable of advanced functions like monster analysis, automated body-cleansing, and even camouflage.

A few of the seniors glanced at him. One of them, a broad-shouldered third-year, let out a chuckle as his senses swept over Legion. "A Level 1 Evolver? Must be a lost first-year," he said to his companion, who shook her head in amusement.

The faint genetic wave radiating from Legion was so weak that he almost looked like a normal human.

Legion glmaced at the students in awe as he felt the energy radiating off of them like the heat of a fire but more subtle.

He took in a deep breathe to calm his excitement and walked through the entrance.

The interior of the hall was incredibly massive but what attracted Legion's attention was the massive gate that stood 500 meters away.

Heavily armed guards in full combat armor stood beside the gate.

A long desk sat to the side, where students were presenting their identity cards and registering their purpose before being granted access.

Legion's plan was simple. He didn't have the qualifications, or the clearance to enter the dimensional zone. But he didn't need to. He just needed to get close.

He began to walk toward the gate, feigning the wide-eyed curiosity of a naive freshman.

"Wait!" a guard's voice suddenly spoke, stopping him from moving forward.

The man was massive and his face seemed to have been carved into a frown as though he was brin with it. "This area is restricted to registered students only, leave."

"Oh, I'm sorry, sir," Legion said, putting on his most innocent expression. "I was just admiring the gate. It's my first time seeing it up close."

"Admire it from the designated viewing line over there," the guard grunted, pointing a thumb towards a yellow line painted on the floor a good 500 meters away. "Any closer is a security violation."

Damn it. Legion's system scan had a range of 100 meters. He needed to get closer. He took a few hesitant steps forward, ignoring the guard's instruction. "It's just... the energy it gives off is incredible! I can almost feel it!"

"That's your final warning, kid," the guard's voice turned cold as he glanced at him sideways.

"Take another step and I'll remove you myself."

'Motherfucker!'

Legion cursed under his breath.

Out of hope he spoke.

"Activate Scan function!"

`[Ding! Scanning... Target must be within 100-meter range.]`

He took in a deep breathe and without hesitation, he dashed forwards in a sprint.

He was now approximately 95 meters from the gate. The guard suddenly vanished. In a blink, the massive man had appeared before him.

His huge hand clamping down on Legion's shoulder like a vice.

"I warned you."

The moment the guard's hand touched him, the system rang out in his mind.

`[Ding! Dimensional Gateway detected! Analyzing coordinates...]`

`[Ding! Zone identified: Greenwich Forest. Threat Level: Grade One. Primary Inhabitants: Steel-Snakes, Saber-Toothed Tigers, Gold-Eating Ants, Ironclaw Eagles, Bloodswarm Mosquitoes, Twin-Tailed Rabbits...]`

`[Creature Power Levels range from Level 5 Primitive (equivalent to Level 5 Evolver) to Level 9 Mutated (equivalent to Level 9 Genetic Soldier).]`

`[Ding! Dimensional Zone 'Greenwich Forest' has been successfully mapped and stored in the Archive. You may now Breach this dimension at any time.]`

Just as Legion was about to laugh out loud in excitement, the guard tossed Legion through the air like a doll with no strings.

"Thump!"

"Ouch!"

Legion immediately stood up, smiled and waved to the guard who immediately frowned in confusion and snored to ignore him.

Lehion laughed and instantly turned to leave , heading back to his dorm!

—————-

Back in the room, the clone, having arranged most of the room, looked up at him with a scowl on its face. It was obviously still mad.

"Hehe, I'm really very handsome." Legion chuckled as he looked at his clone with a strange expression.

"Good work," Legion smiled as he spoke as though he was speaking to himself.

He extended a hand, and with a command, the clone also extended its hand as their hands met.

Suddenly, their flesh, muscles and bones began to merge with each other as the original cell began to absorb the duplicated cell until Legion completely absorbed the entire clone back into his body.

He sat on his chair, closed his eyes, and accessed the system.

{Archive function: 1. [Greenwich Forest]}

"System, Breach the Greenwich Forest."

`[WARNING: User's Lifeform Level (Level 1 Evolver) is critically low for the selected destination. Probability of survival is less than 1%. Proceed?]`

Legion frowned. But then he remembered he couldn't die in that world he immed spoke.

"Enter!"

Suddenly, his consciousness blurred. A feeling of weightlessness overtook him and legion felt as though his consciousness was being stretched throughout several multiverses.

Then, just as suddenly as it began, the sensation stopped, and a new physical feeling enveloped him.

Suddenly, the scent of his messy room faded, replaced by the smell of damp earth and decaying leaves.
