Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Kira’s Team-Up Invitation

Galuna Island, also known as Demon Island, was home to a population descended from ancient demons. They weren't exactly powerhouse creatures—no magic, no superhuman strength or smarts, and their tech was stuck in the dark ages. Their one trick? Shapeshifting into humans. That little quirk kept them off the Magic Council's radar, leaving them to quietly thrive on their remote island.

In the original Fairy Tail story, Galuna Island was just a short arc. Gray's senior apprentice, Lyon, dragged the demon Deliora—sealed by their master, Ur—to the island. Lyon's plan was to use the "Moon Drip" ritual to break Ur's Absolute Freeze and defeat Deliora, proving he'd surpassed his master.

Problem was, the Moon Drip's magic array created a purple barrier over the island, messing with the residents' memories. They thought the "curse" of the purple moon was what turned them into demons, so they put out a job request to the magic guilds to break it.

Out of all this, the only thing that really caught Kira's eye was the Moon Drip—a legendary magic that harnessed moonlight to negate any spell. Pretty sweet.

As for the rest? Well, it was Demon Island. Probably crawling with demon-related stuff that could make for some killer materials. Maybe he could craft some top-tier magic gear out of it.

Kira usually stuck to beast-slaying missions. They were brainless, and he could snag materials for his shop on the side. But this time, he wanted to mix things up.

In the original story, the golden key from this arc ended up with Lucy, who was basically destined to collect Celestial Spirit keys.

Kira could already picture it: Lucy, starry-eyed, begging to buy that golden key from him. Heh heh heh…

Ahem. No use getting carried away.

"If I get my hands on that golden key, I can name my price!"

"The perks of knowing the plot, baby!"

There's nothing better than having a cheat code. Except maybe always having a cheat code.

As the saying goes: Hacking's fun for a moment, but hack forever… and you might get banned.

Still, who could resist the thrill?

Kira grabbed the mission poster and marched down to the guild's first-floor registration desk. He slammed the paper onto the counter, grinning at Mirajane. "Mira, Mira, I'm taking this job. Register it for me, will ya?"

Sometimes, Kira couldn't help but wonder about Fairy Tail. It was such a massive guild, yet Mirajane seemed to handle everything—mission registrations, newbie onboarding, even serving drinks.

No wonder she never looked strapped for cash despite rarely taking missions. She used to be S-Class, after all. Probably had a fat savings account. Total rich, gorgeous, big-sister vibe—perfect waifu material. No surprise she was a fan-favorite in all those doujins.

But Kira? He wasn't swayed.

Weaker than me, not as smart as me, not as popular as me, and probably not as rich as me. Think you can win me over with looks alone? Am I that shallow?

I'm Kira!

The weight of that name? If you know, you know. If you don't, good luck figuring it out. No point googling it either—most of the info's been scrubbed. Let's just say it's complicated, and the water's deep. If you really want to know, check the comments below:

Truth is, Mirajane didn't do all the guild's work alone. Kira just never noticed the other staff—they were basically background NPCs to him.

"Wow, you taking a mission? That's rare," Mirajane said, glancing at the poster with curiosity. "What's got your interest? The golden key?"

Everyone in the guild knew Kira ran a magic shop, so it made sense he'd be after rare items like a Celestial Spirit key.

Kira nodded. "Kinda. Plus, an island full of demons? Sounds like a goldmine for rare materials. You never know what I might find."

"Fair enough, but are you sure you want to go solo? This mission doesn't look easy," Mirajane said, her tone tinged with concern. Words like "demons" and "curse" didn't exactly scream "safe."

"No worries, I'm plenty strong," Kira said, puffing out his chest confidently.

Still… Mirajane had a point. Maybe he should bring some backup.

Galuna Island could mean running into Lyon or Ultear. Kira figured bringing Gray along might be a good call—not to "fix" the plot or anything, but to give the senior and junior apprentices a chance to bury the hatchet.

Man, I'm basically an angel. Doing good deeds without expecting a thing in return. Where do you find a teammate as trustworthy as me? Fairy Tail's lucky to have me.

With that, Kira strode over to the liveliest table in the guild.

Smack!

He slapped the mission poster down in front of the group mid-drink, holding up three fingers. "Alright, listen up! I'm taking an S-Class mission. I've got room for three of you to tag along. Catch is, you each get one percent of the reward."

"One percent? Who'd sign up for that?!" someone scoffed.

"Wait, did he just say S-Class mission? Am I hearing this right?"

"S-Class? For real?"

"If it's S-Class, even one percent's probably a ton of cash, right?"

"No way, you're actually taking a mission? That's new."

"But doesn't that break guild rules?"

Kira waved off the concern. "Relax. If anything goes down, I've got your backs. The master's always saying those rules are just hot air. If anyone asks, I'll say I took the mission, and you guys are just along for a little sightseeing."

"…You're something else," someone muttered.

The group exchanged glances, suddenly intrigued. They crowded around the poster, eyes locking onto the reward: "What the—?! Seven million Jewel?!"

"S-Class missions pay that much more than ours?"

"So one percent is, what, 70,000 Jewel? That's about what we make on a regular job!"

The half-drunk group snapped to attention, some even spitting out their drinks in shock.

Gray glanced up at the second floor, his heart racing. An S-Class mission's reward was nearly a hundred times what he made on a single job. I've gotta beat Natsu to S-Class. Then I'll rub it in his face!

This could be his shot. Sure, it was only one percent, but 70,000 Jewel was close to his usual payout—minus the deductions for all the stuff he accidentally broke.

Yeah, I'm in.
