Chapter 5 - Chapter # 05

After I calmed my parents down. We headed down to the ground floor of our house to have lunch. The house wasn't too remarkable or anything. It was just a simple 2-story house, but I had good memories tied to it, which made it special.

On the food table, I was munching down food as my brain was processing the important event that would happen in the future. Mostly the ones involving the 6 Zodiac emblems.

I would need to get involved in them and would have to acquire the artifacts before anybody else. Now, there are a total of 6 of them and each is occupied in a different scenario. One is in a dungeon; one is in a safe etc.

But to acquire each of them, there was a necessary factor; strength. I need to get much much stronger than I was before. I would also need to form contacts with powerful people so that they can give me financial and political support.

But to start it all, I would need a Grimlock. A Grimlock is considered an entity of itself. It came from ancient times and allows people to access factions and their powers.

I took a bite from the sandwich in my hands and looked up at my father who was gobbling up a steak and some wine mother poured him so he would calm down. I asked him, "Dad, when will I get a Grimlock?"

My father chocked a bit when he heard those words. My mother looked at me with a questioning look and asked, "But sweetie, didn't you wanted to become a scholar?" I replied as innocently as I can, "I've changed my mind. Now I want to become a Grimwalker, just like my parents".

My dream of being a scholar, it formed in me due to my intensive thirst for knowledge, I also thought of becoming a professor and sharing that knowledge. However, now I don't have any time to think about those kinds of thing as the whole future of the world depends upon his actions.

I looked at my father who had a wide smile on his face. He then stood up from the chair and went in his room. And a moment later, he came back with a dull, greyed out book.

He said, "I was waiting for when you will ask for it. Here you go my son". He handed me the book and looked at mom who had a slight smile on her face. I looked at the book in my hands with a smile.

My father said, "Now son, do you know how to form a contract with the Grimlock?". I nodded and he replied, "Now son, I bought you a D-rank Grimlock, the most basic one you can find. And if you want an upgrade, you will have to work hard and get it for yourself".

This trait of my father, I liked it the most. He taught me from the beginning to work hard if you want to get something or achieve something. His training allowed me to survive till the very end.

I looked at the book and thought, "A D-rank huh, well better than nothing. It only effects the storage". Then I took a knife from the table and made a small cut on my finger.

Blood started to seep from the wound as a drop formed and it fell onto the book. The book reacted as my blood started to vanish from it and the book started to glow in a slight shade of black.

The book started to change as the cover changed from dull grey to jet black with red linings. My mother and father looked at with awe and amazement.

Finally, the light started to dim away signing the completion of the contract. Now the book was floating above my left hand.

My father commented, "My boy just formed a contract with the obsidian order! I always thought that the Grimwalkers from that faction were way cooler". I giggled at the childish behavior of my father as I took a sigh inwardly.

I waved my right hand over the Grimlock, flickering it open. Before me was a familiar yet different status window:

[Name]: Aiden

[Level]: 01

[Faction]: The Obsidian Order

[Class]: nil

[Attribute]: nil

[Stats]:

(STR):04

(DEX):04

(VIT):05

(PER):07

(INT):10

(LUK):05

I looked at my pitiful stats and sighed while closing the Grimlock back. Now I looked at my parents who were having a debate over which class will I choose my mother said, "He WILL become a mage, like me. He already loves knowledge. It's in his nature"

My father protested in response, "Well, I say we make him a fighter. He got the perfect build in his genes. Just let me train him a bit". I then again had to calm them down. Honestly, sometimes I wonder who is the parent in us.

The both turned to me for a response. My mother said, "Tell him sweetie, tell him that you want to become a mage". My father in turn said, "Tell her Aiden, tell her that you want to become a fighter".

I smiled mischievously and said, "I will become… both". They looked at me in confusion but I just told them I was kidding and will tell them later. I then acted of tiredness and I ran into my room. As there was one important thing I still needed to check on the Grimlock.
